BACKYARD GARDENS ILLEGAL?
I couldn't believe what I heard yesterday. I mean it. In the state of Georgia, it has become illegal to have a backyard garden. They passed the law to comply with a federal law that was initiated by Obama and had this effect, whether he meant it or not. He put a law into effect that allows the federal government to tell a farmer what he can and cannot plant. It has been seen by our nit picky legislators to also mean that anyone with a garden is technically a *farmer* of sorts and is not allowed to grow anything without the approval of the Federal government. Can you believe that crap? And they say Georgia is just the first of many states that is going to start prosecuting anyone with a backyard garden.
I believe that may be because so many people have an excess that they sell and it affects the sale of produce at the grocery stores. It's just my guess but anything that affects the sale of federally-allowed produce (and even meat products) is just not in the best interest of any state or the plan of the government to control food prices and sales. But a backyard garden? And I will bet you that they start using Google maps to check and make sure no such things are going on in anyone's backyard. That's how they've caught pools that were installed without permits and other such items that have been done to improve a home and property. Google aerial maps. I kid you not. So beware. You may end up with a fine or even in jail just for having a garden to help supplement your household food supply.
Love you all.

ReplyDeleteSandy, this is Bill.
ReplyDeleteSweetheart, you ***really*** should never ever EVER watch Fox News. Not even if its the only channel available to you. People who watch Fox News are the most ill-informed people in America.
Friends don't let friends watch Fox!!!
Fox News is Mega-Rich People paying Rich People to Tell Middle-Class People to Blame Poor People for all their woes.
I am absolutely 100% serious when I say it has been PROVEN that people who watch that channel are the most misinformed of all Americans.
It amounts to GOP TV. It's pure propaganda designed to help the Republican Party.
Or as I like to refer to it: An ABOMINATION.
There is a great deal of FEAR-MONGERING there. They are big on opinion and really really short on anything remotely resembling factual reality.
I have no idea where you are getting this nonsense but considering how blatantly false it is, I *assume* you are getting it from Fox News.
Just use your common sense... 1) Our President can't pass ANY laws without both branches of Congress signing on... and one branch of Congress is controlled by Republicans (and the completely loathsome Tea Party.) 2) If it was a FEDERAL law, it wouldn't affect just Georgia but would, instead, affect the entire nation. That's just the common sense aspect of this issue.
Here's the Verifiable Truth: A House bill proposes to split the Food & Drug Administration, creating a separate entity to oversee food safety. It’s aimed at food sold in supermarkets and doesn’t say anything about organic gardening, pesticides, farmers’ markets or that tomato plant in your backyard.
Read that again... a HOUSE bill proposes this... and the House is controlled by Republicans.
If you want to be informed about the truth about gardens anywhere/everywhere in the United States... if you want to rise above this hysteria, I suggest you go here...

Even if the Beast watches Fox (or listens to Rush Limbaugh or Glen Beck), do your intellect a HUGE favor and TUNE IT OUT.
God Bless You.
