Prayer Request.....

This is something I haven't really done unlike Bratfink who has a huge group of friends that often send in prayer requests to her and she passes that information along to them.   My bff, Carol, has a son, Randy, that lives with Hep C (which is bad enough!) but I was told that two weeks ago he was rushed to the hospital in afib.  That's atrial fibulation (sp) and it's serious as hell.  People can have afib without actually having a bad heart valve.  My girlfriend, Marilyn's husband has it and no bad heart.  It's very bad to have, however.  It has taken them two weeks to finally get his heart back into a normal rhythm.  Can you imagine how a mother feels when she watches her child suffer constantly?  Besides that, she has had to run the flower shop every day since that is the source of Randy's income.  So tonight, please say a little prayer for him.  His name is Randy.  God will know who you are praying for and I believe in the power of prayer.  Even from strangers.

My day was awesome!  Cee and I made it to the Grand Opening.  Aldi's paid for the cart rental (it's a quarter that you get back when you return the cart) but it meant no digging in your purse for the quarter.  The employees were all friendly and helpful.  I hope that part lasts because they were more helpful than the one's at my sister-in-law's Aldi up North.  Aldi's gave everyone a free shopping bag.  It's nice.  Made of fabric and has a supported bottom.  It's actually larger than most shopping bags (the paper ones) so it's great for storing and bringing home the things you buy there.  Cee had brought three bags with her and that worked out just fine.  She needed two and I used one of hers.  The Beast normally keeps our bags out in the garage since that is how we go out to our cars usually but Cee and I went out the front door to her car so I forgot to grab one.

I admit that all the walking damn near did me in but I made it.  The day was sunny and warm.  It's supposed to be even warmer tomorrow (it hit 83 today and is supposed to be 86 or higher tomorrow.  Isn't that great?  I forgot to check the strawberries but I'll do it tomorrow.  I made our dinner tonight and the main dish was ....STEAMED SHRIMP !  I bought the jumbo raw (frozen) and they were incredibly tasty.  I also made us some fresh cauliflower but it was a bit overcooked.  I put it on to simmer then went to check my email and forgot it was on until I smelled it.  But we ate it anyway.....LOL.  I still love it's taste with a bit of butter on it.

The Beast's tomato plants are doing great as I told you and I checked the sizes of the one that has six tomatoes already on it.  Nice big ones for so early after planting.  They fit nicely in my palm....LOL.  But they are still a bit too deep a green for fried green tomatoes.  I finally got the Beast thinking about those and, when I found little tomatoes starting on his other plants (he has six so far even tho' he said he was only planting three this year.  Told you!)

The Beast is going to be taking pictures at a wedding soon so he is checking out his lenses and the best settings for them at different distances.  It's going to be for one of the women at his church.  Her fiance' is from Nicaragua (same church, different pew) and they are wrestling with immigration right now so they CAN get married.  He took several pictures of me while he took note of how far away he was.  He's checking to make sure he doesn't have a lens that ends up looking like it's a fish eye one at greater distances.  Some focal points are more sensitive than others and he has so many different lenses, he's forgotten which has that kind of problem.  I looked at the pictures and realized that my posture is awful.  I guess I have to wear my back brace for a while to correct that.  *Sigh*  I threw back my shoulders to the last few he took and that helped.

The Beast cleaned the floors with his steamer while I cleaned the kitchen.  I also emptied the dishwasher and put everything away.  After dinner, I cleaned up all the dishes and cookware and put them in the dishwasher.  I spent more time on my feet today, doing things than I have in a long time.  Aldi's plus making dinner and cleaning up the kitchen and I didn't even take a nap!  But I flaked out around 7pm and just woke up a half hour ago.  That's what I call a nice nap.  I'll go back to bed in about another half hour and will probably sleep the rest of the night.....LOL.  But nothing hurts and that's good.

Love you all.  Please remember Randy in your prayers.  I hope you all have fantastic weather without the threat of tornadoes.  The poor people in the Great Plains area!  I'm saying a prayer for them that the damage is not extensive and that no one has lost their life.  I've been in a tornado and we lost everything we had back then.  It's a long time ago but I remember it vividly.  Sometimes it seems almost like it happened just a short time ago.

Be good.  Be careful.  Be happy.  ***Hugs***

The Beast's Tomatoes Are Thriving!

I am totally amazed at just how well the Beast's tomatoes are doing.  He must be developing a real green thumb.  His flowers are thriving too and I have some pics I will share with you.

Of course, he has multiples of some flowers but I tried to give you at least a hint of how well they are doing.  Many of these started from seeds.  A couple from bulbs except for the orchid, of course.  That is one of mine that he's been tending after I got it through the winter.  One of mine died however, regardless of what I could do.  *Sigh*

I wanted him to take a picture of his tomatoes but he said he would when they turn red.  I'm looking at them like *they are just PERFECT for fried green tomatoes* and he was horrified.  LOL!

I got lazy and didn't fold my clothes today  but spent a lot of time outside in our 83 degree weather.  It was fantastic.   The Beast took the two dogs for a run and were gone a much longer time than usual.  I found out that Lady saw a cow in this one farm field by us and was barking like crazy at it.  She would come when the Beast called her then run back to the barbed wire fence to bark some more.  The cow just had this dumbfounded look on her face.  Lady finally ran back, jumped between the second and third strand of barbed wire into the field and had a ball bark and chasing the poor cow around.  The Beast thought it was funny.  He finally got Lady to come back and she jumped between the barbed wire again and the three of them finally came home.  I guess Lady will protect us against any stray cows that might be threatening us.

The dryer is calling me to come and get my refreshed clothes so I better post this.  Love you all.  More 80 degree weather tomorrow *grin* so I will be out in it just enjoying myself.  We have been drinking it outside on the deck even tho' (sob!) is not Kahua coffee any more.  We used up the last of the beans and now are back to *normal* coffee.  We'll get used to it again, I'm sure.  But sitting outside is great.  Guess I am out of hibernation again.

I am going with Cee to the Grand Opening of Aldi's tomorrow.  That will be a real treat.  I can hardly wait.  So be good.  Remember to be kind to everyone because you want them to be kind to you, too.  ***Hugs***

Beautiful.......

That's what our weather was like today.  It got all the way up to 83!  *Grin*  I loved it.  The Beast and I went outside to have coffee after we got home from my doctor.  This was the surgeon that operated on me.  He also gave me the report from the lab about the polyps that were removed.  The new thing he told me was that they were deemed *pre-cancerous*.  But he said all that means is that the cells observed were starting to break down and change and they COULD have become cancerous in two or three years if left in the colon.

I had him cut the sinew used in my surgery that was poking out of my abdomen.  It kept catching on things, like my underwear.  When he went to cut it, he told me there were actually two there right next to each other.  I told him that I didn't care if it was one or two...just get rid of them!  LOL.

I feel I have been very lucky to get such good doctors.  They all are willing to talk to you openly and are never in a rush.  They answer my questions and, believe me, I always have them.  Just ask them.  I have a bit of a reputation among them....lol.  I figure I have the right to know, don't you?  I think he was surprised that I had been told I wouldn't need another colonoscopy for 3-5 years, depending on the report from the lab.  My doctor said he was going to call the other doctor to talk with him about the report.  He's going to call me afterward.  But he DID say it might take a few days before he would get a call back, depending on the doctor's schedule.  I guess proctologists are pretty busy with us old folks.

Sister Cee was told by HER doctor that he wanted her to have a colonoscopy.  After hearing my ranting about the liquid I had to drink and she heard the same thing from her gf that lives downstairs, she isn't looking forward to it.  She's never had one.

The Beast is still complaining about being in pain but most of that pain was caused by his forcing himself to do things like he was still only 30-40 years old.  He's admitted that he just can't do that to himself any more.  Yeah, right!  Like he even listens to himself.

I didn't get any sleep last night so I went to bed early because I was just exhausted after being up all day.  I did two loads of clothes and haven't even folded them.  I'll refresh them tomorrow and do it then.

I replaced the remaining syrup in the hummingbird feeders today because they had gotten lighter in color.  I used some bleach on them (inside and out) just in case it was bacteria.  We HAVE had more sun and warmth these past couple of weeks and I read that can happen.  The Beast also took more pictures of the various flowers he has planted and they really turned out great.  I asked him to give me several of them and will post them in the next few days.

Love you all.  It's back to bed for me....I need a bit more sleep.  Be good and have a nice week.  ***Hugs***

How Did I Lose A Day???

I have no idea why it happened but I woke up today thinking it was Saturday.  Really.  I was so sure but when I discovered it was Sunday, I was shocked.  Really shocked.  All I can say is that the day I was so sick had to be the reason.  I lost track of that day and just picked up where I left off (remembered).  I also thought that I missed Chewlee's birthday party.  I thought it was yesterday for some reason.  I KNOW that her birthday is on the 30th of this month.  I've celebrated every birthday with her since she turned 2.  She's now 9 so go figure.    *Sigh*  It's a real bitch to get old.

The Princess has to think I am losing my mind....and I wouldn't blame her.  I hope she doesn't but that's up to her.  I would just hate to miss it.  I think Chewlee might not forgive me if I did.  I really love that kid even though she can be ornery.  In many ways, she reminds me a bit of Sheepie when she was a kid.  LOL!

It's Mother's Day next weekend, isn't it?  I sure miss MY mother.  Those that have their mother still alive should remember to let her know you love her while you can.  But be sure to send her a card or flowers.  Even those flowers they have at the various stores if you can't afford a regular florist.  It's just a sweet thing to do and, believe me, mothers love it.  It helps make them feel special.   I'm a mother so I know.  *Sigh*  I must not have been a good one because my kids haven't sent me anything..not even a card...for years.  Only Buttmunch and her hubby when she was still married.  I got roses from them every year.  It was so special.  Oh well.  I know that their finances have sucked for a while for different reason so I forgive them because *I* love *them*.  We had our lean times when we were young, too.

It was absolutely gorgeous today.  I swear even the birds were happy about it.  I know the dogs were...LOL.  Lady wanted to stay out most of the time but when Baron came into the house, she followed.  I finally got to see her curled up against Baron's tummy and sound asleep today.  If she can't do that because of where Baron is laying down, she goes behind the Beast's recliner.  But, when the Beast called her into the bedroom tonight, she seemed to get a smile on her face and trotted in happily.  She's been sleeping next to Baron.   Baron seems to tolerate more than being happy she's around but he'll get used to having her here soon enough.  He does seem to like the company at times and they get exercise because of Lady's playfulness.  I think he DOES enjoy that.  She's even started to go with the Beast and Baron on their ride around the circle.  When she tries to run in front of the scooter, however, Baron barks for her to come back....and she does.  LOL!

Another day of warm (almost hot!) weather is expected tomorrow.  They say it will hit around 80.  Nice!  I'll take that anytime.  Love you all.  Be good.  Have a great week.  Smile because it causes confusion to people around you.  They will wonder what you are smiling at...LOL!  ***Hugs***

The Beast Gets Busy.....

Although the Beast had been complaining that he still wasn't feeling well, he got very busy today and got a lot done on the yards.  He cleared another section of the veggie beds and put down some colored mulch in all three of the sections.  It breaks down within the year for the most part so it won't hurt it if we decide to plant more next year.

He got the front lawn and next door mowed and even got out the trimmer and weed whacked the edges of everything.  It all looks nice.  But he paid a price for it.  He is now not feeling well and his body aches everywhere.  Well, duh!  He hasn't done so much in one day for some time now.  Of course he hurts all over.  Sheesh.  He did admit that he is feeling his age (he will be 72 in July).  Good lord but I never imagined us getting old....ever.  It really sucks.

Poor Bratfink is also suffering from aches and pains all over.  She went with Sheldon to the grocery store today and all the walking (she says she needed the exercise) did her in.  I gather she is planning on getting more exercise to try to get herself in better shape.  I've been trying to exercise myself....my back muscles are incredibly weak.  So today I used my 5 lb.  hand weights and worked out a bit with them.  I can feel an ache in my lower back but, believe it or not, it actually feels good.  Weird.

I meant to call the Princess today to find out if the party for Chewlee is still on.  You never know with her since she is the punisher and, if Chewlee misbehaves, she seems to lose a lot of privileges.  I think they are at the campground this weekend but I want to be sure before I make that drive.  I haven't been down in that area (it's near the beach area in the protected reserve that the deer all seem to gather in).  It's a winding mountain road and the deer can be very distracting...LOL.  The Beast may insist on driving me but I'm really not sure about that with the way he feels.  I decided that I am just going to give Chewlee cash for her birthday.  She's going to be 9 and she really does like to pick out her own things.  I have no idea what you buy for a 9 year old as far as toys go.  She has a lot of them as it is.  I usually am drawn to clothes since I love dressing little girls but she has her own tastes these days.  It makes it hard on a great-grandma....LOL.

The weather was fairly nice today.  It actually hit 71 and it's stilll 63 degrees out.  Not bad and I probably won't have to use my warm comforter tonight.  A good blanket should do it.  At least, I hope so.  But my comforter will be at my feet within easy reach.

I was told that I needed to put Lady's picture in my blog so everyone will know she is a real dog.  She doesn't look happy in the pic because she wanted to play and was told she had to *sit*.  As soon as the Beast lowered the camera, she was off like a shot to play with Baron.  LOL!  Here's her picture.

Now you know she is a real dog.  The vet told us she is almost ready to go into her first heat.  Yikes!  That's partly why the Beast got the igloo dog house ready for her.  She's been staying outside most of the day but comes in to eat and after that she kind of keeps close to Baron.  She actually curled up near his belly when he was laying at the front door and she went to sleep.  It was adorable.  She is the happiest little thing.  She is not the least bit mean and she barked for the first time yesterday.  It was so funny because I was shocked.  It just shows she is finally feeling like this is her home.  She barked when the mailman pulled into our driveway to drop off a package that wouldn't fit in our mailbox.  Guess she is finally showing her *watchdog* side.  The Beast's buddy that had her in his yard said she was really a good watchdog but we never heard her bark at all until yesterday.

Time to jump in the shower and wash out the gunk in my hair.  I got tired of the grey that was showing up in my hair...a LOT of it.  LOL!   I shouldn't be surprised at my age.  I'm also a natural blonde so it's more to color the grey than anything else.  In fact, I'm actually using a dark blonde color this time.  I'm so pale that I figure it will be a better choice.  At least for now.

Love you all.  I hope you are seeing better weather these days.  We didn't get any rain for the past few days but it just rained here a few minutes ago.  A hard downpour but it was over quickly.  Just enough to water the grass and plants.  The trees could probably use it, too.  The Beast never waters them (not that they seem to need it).  We don't have a sprinkler system so they stay green mainly because of the rain we DO get.  *Sigh*  I just remembered the Beast has the cushions on the chairs on our deck.  Oh well.  The sun will dry them off tomorrow.

Be good.  Have a great weekend.  Drive safely....you too, Sis.  ***Hugs***

HAVING A GOOD EVENING AT LEAST!

The Beast has a tomato plant that has six tomatoes on it already....they will be ready for picking in about a week.  I swear, that man is developing some serious skills with his plants.  I just hope the raccoons don't get at them before WE do...lol.

I feel soooooo much better now but...the bad thing is that I slept so much that I am not the least bit tired yet.  This is going to screw up my hope to keep more normal hours.  I hate being up most of the night and then ending up sleeping the day away.

Lady has decided that she really likes to be out in the yard even more than in the house.  I think whoever had her kept her in their yard and she's not really relaxed in the house.  She acts like it's a bad thing at times.  Very weird.  But the Beast took our igloo dog house and put a few rugs in it and it's on the porch of the *cottage*.  The entry is facing the deck so we can see her if she starts using it.  He also cleared out the plants and weeds that were under the deck.  It's all dirt down there and I told him that's where she will probably go if it rains.  We found a hole in the yard that looks like it might be a rabbit hole.   Lady discovered it and she watches the hole a lot.  I think she is waiting for the rabbit to come out.  What she wants to do when it does, I have no idea.  Guess we will have to wait and see.  The Beast said he would fill the hole but....there's no dirt around it for him to use so he's going to have to find some good dirt to fill it.

I hate the idea that it might suffocate the animal...whatever it is since we don't really know yet.  But the Beast thinks it will more likely drive it out.  How he plans on keeping it out of our yard, I have no idea.  A trap?  But how do you attract a rabbit so that it will be trapped?  Lettuce?  Carrots?  And he would have to release it somewhere far away.  He was thinking of using some gopher poison but I think that's cruel.  Any suggestions?

I was playing my Jewel game for a couple hours so I missed seeing my sister online.  She left me a message on Yahoo Instant Messenger, however.   We usually talk there...much easier and you can see the chat much better, too.

Well, I am still waiting for warmer weather here.  I think the tomatoes need it....LOL.  I know that *I* do.  I am definitely a warm weather person.  I want to hibernate in cold weather.  I can understand why bears do it.  They don't like the cold either.  I am waiting for the hummingbirds to make it back here.  It will have to be warmer for them to make the trip from where they winter.  I think they go to Mexico or maybe it's just Florida.  I'm ready for them and so are my feeders.  I finally put them out.  I had one show up today but he seems to be alone.  An early arrival, I guess.  Poor thing.  Must be lonely.  But now he will defend the feeder he was using.  They are not really nice to each other when they are hungry.  We also have enough flowers that attract them all over the place, including hanging baskets that are in good places.  The Beast looked up what kind of flowers they like and got several different ones so there's a colorful variety.

Love you all.  Hope you missed me...LOL.  Have a great Friday and a fantastic weekend.  We should....they say it will be in the upper 70's on Saturday and warm weather for us for at least a week.  It's about time!  ***Hugs***

That'll Learn Me......

The other day, the Beast went to one of his church services but pulled into a parking space and felt sick to his stomach.  He turned around and came home.  He found out later that one of his best buds (if he can be said to have one beside Baron), also had the same problem.  I don't know what they had but I seem to have come down with it.  I was so damn sick to my stomach yesterday (after sister Cee went home), that the Beast even kept Lady out of my room.

I slept all evening and all night.  I even slept most of today, waking just to go to the bathroom.  That will teach me to worry more about the Beast than about myself.  I know I caught whatever he had only it was tougher on me for whatever reason.  I had both my flu and pneumonia shots so it wasn't that, I hope.  If it was and this was a milder form, yikes!

I haven't eaten yet but the Beast is making me some chicken broth right now.  That should get me over the hump, I think since I am able to sit upright now.  My bowels are working just fine, tyvm.  I'm hoping it wasn't the two doses of Metamucil that put me under the weather.

I am cutting this short but I want  to assure you that I DO feel much better.  I shall return later and let you know how things are going.  Love you all.  ***Hugs***
