It was a busy day here at the Bratfarm. The Beast and I got up, dressed and headed off to the doctor's office to get my appointment set up for my colonoscopy. It's set for April 24th at 11pm. It will be done at *day patient*, which is another name for the outpatient area of the hospital. Phew! The doctor's office is actually inside the part of the hospital that has doctors offices. I had to give them my insurance cards, my drivers license and fill out three different forms that will be used for my folder.
I sure wish the forms were all the same and you could fill them out just once and make copies to take with you to a new doctor's office. Okay, so you might have to change or add to them if you have new surgeries or medications added/subtracted but that would be minor. But life is never that organized, is it?
It was actually hot out today. It got up to 87 which was hotter than the forecast but I am not complaining. The Beast took out my fan (it needs cleaning) and gave me one he had already cleaned off. He pressure cleans them and lets them dry off before using them in another room. He's developed a technique that doesn't get any water in the motor which is actually pretty well covered. He allows a couple days of drying time ... just in case. He's been doing this for a couple years so he's pretty good at it now.
He put the air conditioner in the kitchen window and I had to give him a hand with that. After he got it all installed, he went around it to seal it up so we don't get any bugs of any kind that can get in through cracks. Not satisfied with what he had accomplished for the day, he went out and cleaned up more of the garden area. We actually have a lot more of it to clear out but we can do that in the next couple days. I'm going out to thin out the strawberry bed. It's grown so much that the sun can't get at the little berries. That's a problem with strawberries. They propagate easily and quickly. Just drop one or two strawberries and leave them on the ground and you can get overgrown. LOL! But I would rather have a lot of good strawberries like we usually get than have a couple hundred plants that hardly produce. Wouldn't you?
I started pulling out my summer clothes and packing up my winter ones. I realized that I have more summer clothes than winter ones but....a lot of them no longer fit me. I put a pair of summer weight slacks on that I bought two summers ago in Chicago and they damn near fell off me! I was stunned. But I looked and they are a size 14. I must be back in a size 10 again. Now I have to go out to the cottage to the clothes I have stored there and see if I kept my size 10's or not. Otherwise, I have to buy some clothes. *Sigh* I just tried on my size 10 shorts that I had in the summer clothes here and, hurrah!, they fit. LOL.
I tried to help the Beast sort through his clothes to get his winter shirts put away but he said he would do that himself this weekend since we are supposed to have storms and he won't be able to do anything outside. We also have to move our winter coats and jackets out of the coat closet.
I didn't mention that Sheepie never made it over here on Easter but I spoke to her this morning and she said she will come by either on Thursday or Friday. She and Teach ended up staying at his parent's house until almost 10pm and they were both tired. They also had two dogs that probably needed to go out...lol.
The Princess is coming over early to take the Beast to his eye doctor's appointment. We stopped by there on our way home today but the office was closes. Duh! It's Wednesday. I don't know why we didn't call first. He just wanted to make sure he was going to have his lens cleaned since it is worse than it was a few weeks back.
We actually stopped to have brunch at Waffle House. I used to like their coffee but since we've been drinking Kauai coffee, I barely drank any of it today. The Beast ate this huge breakfast...eggs, a bowl of grits, sausage, a huge waffle and toast. He ate it ALL. I had hash browns, eggs, toast and bacon. I ate all mine, too. I was hungry and it was 11am. But watching the Beast eat all that food was awful. He sure doesn't eat that much at home. Even if HE is not the one cooking. But it was nice not to have to go home and cook.
Love you all. I hope you have a great day. Another hot one here tomorrow....but then storms for a couple days. ***Hugs***

We Get The Flower Box Cleared And Planted....
Even though it was overcast, it was fairly warm so the Beast and I went out and cleaned all the weeds out of the flower box out front. He left his two Judas lilies (one is an offshoot of the original) and we cleared a huge pile of small but long-rooted weeds out. He then put a huge bag of topsoil in it and I planted my bulbs. THAT was a pain in the butt because you have to be careful how close you plant them and the requirements are different for each. Since you want them to display nicely, you have to be sure to plant them in rows. I took a few liberties and offset many of them. I had more bulbs than I thought I did so I didn't end up planting them all. A few felt like they were dried out so those didn't get planted at all. I wasn't going to waste our time with them...just in case.
The Princess and Gunner came over for a visit and had lunch with us. We had tacos, which is a nice easy meal to make. I used the leftover taco meat to make us taco salad for our dinner. Those turned out delish! The Beast enjoyed it although he hadn't been all that enthused when I started making it.
The Beast and I both overslept this morning so we didn't go to the proctologist's office to pick up my supplies and schedule the procedure today. We have to go tomorrow or end up waiting until next Monday. He only has office hours three days a week where you can come in. The rest of the time, the girls are there but only to answer phones. You cannot make an appointment for any procedure unless you come into the office. That's when they give you any supplies you will need. You must bring in all medications and over the counter things you are taking so the girls can make the notes on them for the doctor. He has two offices....one in Guntersville and the other in Boaz. One is the town north of us and the other is just south of us. I think which office you use also determines which hospital he uses since we have one in each of those cities. We are going to the Boaz office tomorrow since I like the south hospital best. I've spent time in both and I like the nurses best at the south location.
The Beast wants to stop at his eye doctor's office after we do that and make sure he is going to have his procedure done on his lenses on Thursday. The Princess is going to take him to his appointment on Thursday. She volunteered when he mentioned it. I think everyone is trying to protect me because they think I am crippled up still. Sheesh. This is going to have to stop soon. I'm really getting tired of it.
Gunner was adorable. He is such a happy, smiling baby. He's really good natured and quite an eater of solid food. He loves pancakes, mashed potatoes and a lot of other foods that surprised me. He may only have two teeth right now but it doesn't stop him. He is, however, getting other teeth in soon. I could tell by the way he was chewing on his fingers and even his Nuk. He kept turning it so that he had the stronger sides and chewing on it. It was massaging his gums where they were uncomfortable. But he was still smiling and happy. He pulls himself into a standing position as long as he has something he can grab onto. The Princess says he gets brave on occasion and will stand without anything to hold onto but then he goes down on his butt or else grabs back onto whatever he used to stand up.
Well, the weatherman is saying our weather will be sunny and 80 degrees tomorrow. Wheeeee! My kind of weather....LOL! No rain until Friday when we will be getting thunderstorms. It will not be great weather for the kids who will be going camping but I believe they DO have an awning and they also have a pushout on the camper so they won't feel claustrophobic if they have to stay indoors all day. It will be a new experience for them. I just hope it isn't pouring when they have to set everything up since a lot of stuff has to be done outdoors.
Love you all. Have a wonderful Hump Day. Be careful driving, please. ***Hugs***

A Depressing Day.....
Today didn't turn out as warm as we were led to believe it would be. Plus it was overcast and nasty feeling. It didn't rain, which was the only good thing but it was not a day to plan anything outdoors.
The Beast is still suffering from his fall the other day. He says his left leg feels numb and he's worried about falling. I gave him my cane to use since I don't seem to need it right now. He used it to go to Burger King to use some coupons we got (for our lunch) for the Grand Opening of the Burger King inside our Walmart. Then, because he's not used to using it, he left it in the car.
He wants me to go with him to the eye doctors on Thursday and I said I would. We aren't sure what all might be done and how it would affect his vision for driving home. So I will go with him to make sure he stays safe. It isn't often that he would ask me.
I slept well last night and woke up around 9am. It was chilly in the house so I put on a sweatshirt even though it was rather large on me these days. Since I had a shirt on underneath, it kept me warm enough. I am still wearing it although I will be putting on warm pajamas in a little while. The warmest pajamas I own are the ones that my gf Carol sent me a couple months ago. Those are what I took out of my bin to put on. I really need to get more of them one day.
Tomorrow, the Beast and I have to go to the proctologists office to get my procedure scheduled. My surgeon feels I need to find out if I have any polyps in the rest of my colon because of that one that caused the death of part of my colon (non-cancerous). It kind of pisses me off that I had not been told that anything was found or that it was being checked to see if it was cancerous. I know that they didn't want me to worry unnecessarily since my recovery was difficult enough. But, just the dead part of the colon, if it had broken, could have caused peritonitis or sepsis that could have killed me. That worried me even though it had been taken care of. The thought scared me. But I am okay about it all now so don't worry.
But it does make me a little less reluctant to go through this exam even though I hate, hate, hate the liquid I have to drink to clean out my intestines for it. I haven't done it in years but how awful it was sticks in my mind like it happened last week. The only thing that makes me feel better about it all is the stuff they give you to help *relax* you puts me out for it. I just don't know if it will be done in the doctor's office or as outpatient at the hospital but I will find out tomorrow. Say a little prayer for me, won't you? I just hope there is nothing that is found.
It's a 30% chance of showers tomorrow so it will probably rain. I've found that it usually does when it's supposed to be least likely. It also says we are going to have a high of 78 even with it being mostly cloudy. Wanna make a bet on how accurate the weather forecast is? LOL!
Love you all. Hope you have some great weather. Be kind. Be happy. ***Hugs***

Happy Easter!
It turned out to be a bit cooler than predicted but not too bad. I called the Princess to wish her and her family a Happy Easter and discovered they had NOT gone camping this weekend. They hope to go next weekend instead. I didn't ask but I suspect that they were not the only ones to have the same idea and the place they hoped to go was booked. It seems that happens every Holiday weekend once the weather starts to turn warmer.
I called my sisters and Tara to wish them all a Happy Easter and ended up being invited to dinner. Tara had thought I would be spending it with the Princess and was surprised I wasn't. Actually, I don't think the Princess was planning on a big dinner or else they had been invited elsewhere. I didn't ask. I really didn't care if I wasn't invited anywhere. It meant I didn't have to get out of my pajamas...LOL. But I bit the bullet and Tara came over to pick me up.
Dinner was delicious. Mia had made the sweet potato casserole and, although it was different from mine, it was really tasty. Turns out she had put ground cloves in it, which is a spice I had never even considered. I will the next time I make mine, however. Cee made a delicious jello fruit salad with lots of fruits and nuts in it. Yum! Tara made a ham and green bean casserole plus some croissants for the bread. Gotta have bread or biscuits with our meal. We were joined by my great-nephew Keith and his girlfriend. Little Chance was spending part of the day with his father so he was absent until later.
After dinner, we sat outside in Tara's back yard, talking the whole time and just enjoying the weather. Later, Cee cut a piece of her apple dump cake (which smelled wonderful, btw) for the Beast and we took the plate that Tara had prepared to take home to the Beast and Cee drove me home. It was the first time she used the Garmin GPS that we had given her on her birthday but she did well with it. She brought it in to make sure the Beast had Tara's house on it for her so she could find her way back. They chatted for a while and then Cee headed home to Tara's. She is looking forward to having her own place since it's been years since she has actually had any real *alone* time. She is even thinking about trying to find a part time job to occupy her time a bit and earn a little extra spending money.
While she was here, she even got to see a couple of the birds that visit our bird feeders. This summer when she comes over (and the hummingbirds feed more often due to having babies), we will sit on the deck and watch them. They are more used to us being outside and less fearful of approaching. Brave little birds. They used to fly in front of our faces and stare at us...LOL!
Sheepie called just before Tara got here to pick me up for our early dinner and she was hoping to come by for a visit. She told me to call her when I got home so she could come over for a bit. I called her as they were leaving for Teach's family's house so she will be stopping by later. I miss her visits because she is always so full of news and different things to say about herself and what is going on in her life. You always know what's on her mind and it is very refreshing.
After the Beast had eaten, he relaxed in his recliner and took a bit of a nap. He's soaking in the tub, trying to get over his fall yesterday and the few bruises he got from THAT. He's been falling a lot more often lately and I think it's due to the problems with his eyes. He sees the eye doctor on the 9th to get part of the cleaning of his lenses done and I hope that helps him more. He's having a lot of trouble seeing out of his right eye and that is the one that will be taken care of then.
Well, I want to get this posted early since I will be heading for bed early tonight. I have been up since 8:30am and I haven't taken a nap. Since it's almost 7pm I don't think I will be nodding off until later so I can keep on a better schedule of sleep/wake.
Love you all. Hope you had a good day, too. Be happy and live a full life. Don't forget to tell those you love that you do. A simple *love you* either when you leave (or they do) or before you hang up the phone works wonders. Life is short. ***Hugs***

A Special Thanks To Bratfink.....
I swear my sister, Bratfink, is the Queen of Google searches. She found the name of the bird that really had me puzzled as I had never seen or even heard of one like it before it showed up at our feeder. It is the blue-black one with the brown head and neck area. It turns out it is a brown-headed cowbird. The Beast, when I told him, said *Oh, well, if they hang around the cows then it makes sense why they are around here. We have almost nothing BUT cows around here.* LOL! But thanks, Sis. *I* appreciate knowing what it is.
I had another good day today and we got through it with no rain until late this evening. It was 84 degrees at our warmest this afternoon and I turned my fan up a notch to cool down my computer room. We ate a very late lunch (but I had slept late so had eaten a late breakfast) and the Beast decided he had a taste for a steak and cheese sandwich made by a local restaurant. He just forgot to order extra pepperoncini but but I forgave him. I was hungry so I ate darn near the whole thing along with the fries that come with it. That's saying a lot since I usually can only manage half of it at any one time. But it tasted good to me, too.
I went with the Beast to his church's special celebration of the Last Supper just because he really, really wanted me to go with him. I can stand once a year so I went. At least the people who go there are nice and friendly. It only took an hour and we were home. My tummy had started making noises on me so I made myself some soup after I took off my *go to meeting* clothes....LOL. It had started to rain, lightly, when we were on our way home but rumor is that it will storm here later. I don't care. I'm nice and comfy in my jammies now.
The Princess and Johnnycakes bought a camper/trailer this past weekend and are taking the kids camping THIS weekend. She came over and borrowed our old grille that we use to burn cartons and stuff in now because the place they are going to be camping in doesn't allow fires unless they are *in* a container. They like to make S'mores or at least roast marshmallows so they came over and got it. The camper is a 30-footer which is a nice size. They will get a lot of use and enjoyment out of it, I'm sure. I wish we had had one when our kids were young. We did tent camping but we had fun even so.
Sister Cee now has an apartment but can't move in until the 11th of the month. It's a 2 bdrm. 1 bath, fully-equipped kitchen and even has a washer and dryer. The rent is cheap! I'm not going to put it in here since that's kind of nervy but Sheepie has a one bedroom without a washer and dryer and I'm pretty sure she pays more than what Cee does. Cee is going to go down on Monday to do the utility stuff she needs to get done and then it's just waiting to get moved in. It's not all that far away from what she said (although not as close as the house would have been). At least she will be settled in within the next week.
Well, I want to get this posted before the storm the weather channel was just showing on Doppler hits our area (I'll lose my internet for sure!). Love you all. Be careful driving and doing that last minute shopping for Easter. ***Hugs***

It Was A Great Day!
It was so nice to have a really great day. No pain. Only a little leakage from my incision. Baron surprised me by not trying to rush out the door to greet everyone that came up to it (we had our bug guy come and the guy from Fed Ex). I told him *stay* and he did. He stood at the door and watched but never tried to get outside. It's one thing we have had a tough time trying to teach him. He wants to greet everyone that comes in the house or just to the door. He's always acted like they came to play with him. But he was amazing today.
Even when the Beast brought in a visitor after he was done with some church stuff, he didn't rush the visitor (a very nice gal). I was extremely surprised and so was the Beast. It's about time. It's not like he's a pup. He's a 120 lb. doberman that's almost 8 years old! He's a BIG dog. Most people that have never met Baron before cower back because he looks like he's an attack dog. Ha! Lick you to death, maybe. LOL!
I truly enjoyed feeling good today. I helped make lunch and dinner. I loaded the dishwasher (my back wasn't hurting me even). I hung up clothes that had been washed and dried...by me. *Grin* The only downer I had today was a phone call from my friend in England. We had been talking online and he got tired of typing, I think and said he was going to call. It seems he had another heart episode and had to get the EMT's to his house. His doctor also came and tried to get him to the hospital but he said they don't really do anything positive for him and it's a losing proposition with his severe cardiac problem (his heart is over 40% dead in the main ventricle). He was told he only has about six months left IF he takes care of himself. He's the one that married an American gal he actually met online (it was a sweet romance) and now she is waiting for immigration approval in order to return there permanently. She had to return to the U.S. in order to put her house up for sale and retire from her Civil Service job. She also had to apply for immigration due to the laws of England.
His doctor wrote a letter detailing his medical problem in order to try to expedite approval for her and we are all praying it works and she can get back to him ASAP. It would be too sad to think of him dying without her at his side. He says he just wants her back in his arms. I hung up and cried.
The weather was perfect. It got up to 79 degrees and was nice and sunny all morning and most of the afternoon. Then the storm hit us. But it wasn't a bad one like the other day when we had hail and really big boomers. It also didn't last long. It's supposed to be partly cloudy tomorrow but we shall see. No rain had been predicted for today so you just never know what you are going to get.
I hope you all had a good day. Tomorrow is Friday and, for many, the end of the work week. Easter is this Sunday so I hope you have a nice get together with family and friends. Love you all. I wish you happiness, good health and lots of love. ***Hugs***
LOL!

I Was Hoping.....
....that my wound had stopped leaking until I went to change the bandage. I felt it and it felt dry. I thought that meant it had stopped but then some dripped down onto my fingers. I was so disappointed. I think, however, that it may be healing. I just disturbed it when I changed the bandage and pressed down around the wound. I have had the new bandage on for a couple hours now and there is no discharge showing. I can only hope.
I was also hoping that my bff, Carol, would show up sometime today during the times she told me she checked to see if I was online but she was a no show. I feel like I have lost my best friend because it's been almost a week since we connected. I know she has some family things that are keeping her preoccupied but she DID tell me the times. Carol...where are you? Are you okay? I swear I am going to call you if you don't show up soon. I miss you. But your health worries me. At least let me know if you are okay? Deal?
I put that in because she reads my blog to keep *in touch* with what is going on with me but she doesn't have a blog where I can check to see if she is okay or not. She is 10 years older than I am and has very bad diabetes. So you can see why I worry. Enough.
Today was wonderful. It was 76 degrees out and I ventured outside for a while. The Beast was taking more pics of his birds, as I call them and I am going to try to post a few of the pics he's taken.
Well, I tried but it won't post them for some reason. Chit! It uploaded them but I don't know what happened to them.. Let me try again.
There we go! It has the bird that I spoke about the other day, too. The one that has a blue-black body and a brown head that is brown down to it's *shoulders*. There is a tremendous variety of birds that show up here. Amazing! And they are going through seed like crazy. The Beast had no idea of what he was starting. I told him he needs to go to a feed store and buy a huge bag of seed because it will probably be cheaper than buying it at Walmart. He has yet to check it out but he said he will hit the feed store in Guntersville later this week. We'll see if he does or not.
I hope you enjoy the pics. Love you all. Hope you get some good weather, too. Be good. Stay safe and please be careful driving. ***Hugs***
