Today the contractor and his brother got to the house early and the brother worked on getting the washer and dryer out into the garage so he could finish pulling up the wood, putting down the sub-flooring and screwing it in place while the older brother worked on doing the tile setting. I have to tell you that it's an amazing thing to watch someone that knows how to properly set tile. As I watched, I realized that much of the *mud* they use is ultimately removed as the tile is set in place. It is why there is no problem with grouting because there's no excess *mud* inbetween the tiles. It allows a nice even grouting.
He had a huge level he used for the task of making sure all the tiles were laid evenly onto the sub-floor and that all the edges were even. He was meticulous, took his time and worked methodically. Very impressive. My only complaint? Oh, and Chewlee's, too. The rapid set or whatever it was called smelled AWFUL. It reminded me of the smell of sewage water. It's not like the smell filled the house but if you were down near the floor, ewwww! I hope it fades as the tiles fully set. I'm still getting a whiff of it, now and then.
The poor Princess has to work tomorrow until 4pm IF she gets off in time. She has a friend coming over to spend the night and help get everything ready for dinner on Thursday. I'm going to make the dough and filling for the *family recipe* for nut cups and she's going to make them up since we won't have everything back in place and working. I'm hoping to get my sweet potato casserole made up and ready to throw in the oven when I go over to the Princess's house on Thursday.
I couldn't believe that the Princess actually kept Chewlee home from school today because she thought they were off school. I told her she needs to write this stuff down on a big calendar because it was only Tuesday and there was, indeed, school today. But, when Johnnycakes dropped her off a little later, she had a fever and spent a couple hours laying down with me in my recliner. She did feel better later and her fever seemed gone, too. She actually even wanted food so I knew she was definitely feeling better. For dinner, the Beast took her with him to Wendy's and the stinker had almost eaten two containers of french fries before they got back to the house.
It's late, I'm tired and heading for bed. Love you all. Hope you are organized and ready for Thanksgiving dinner with family and/or friends. I'm just hoping for a bright, sunny day even if it IS cold. How about you? **Wink**
