Today turned out really nice. I woke up, got dressed, ate breakfast then went and fell asleep watching TV BUT!...I woke up at a good time to head to Cee's. We intended to make it over to see the Princess's house once I heard from her. She had intended to run an errand with her girlfriend and then call me when she got home. I tried calling once when I hadn't heard from her (this was around 2pm...and was when I discovered my phone did NOT automatically change for me). I thought it was 3pm but the Princess corrected me when I thought she hadn't picked up Chewlee from school and was late! DUH!
Anyway, we got in the car and headed over to the new house. Thank goodness we had the GPS because there is no way that we would have found it otherwise. Talk about out in the country! Well, it was slightly better than that because at least all the roads were paved....LOL! But, I was shocked at how great her house is! I just loved the fireplace, which looked great in the pictures but even better once you see it in real life. Johnnycakes did a great job putting in the new flooring. It all looks great. The Princess gave us a tour and you just had to admire what she had done to it with her painting the rooms. The Beast had seen it before the painting was even started and was horrified at the lack of care by the previous owners. I gather there were crayon scribbling and pencil drawings on almost all the walls. The colors that had been painted in the various rooms was just atrocious. Now the walls are so much more mellow and inviting. She did a good job picking them out, I have to agree. I didn't initially. I guess my color vision is not as good as hers....LOL.
But what I loved, loved, loved was her kitchen. She has one cabinet that my mouth watered over when she showed it to us. When you open it, it has sections that she used for spices and small jars then it opens up (and the front sections fold together and there are shelves behind it to hold plenty of canned goods, dry goods and snacky things. PLUS...the doors have storage, too! It's incredible. It leaves all the rest of the cabinets for dishes, pots and pans, electrical appliances (waffle irons, crock pots, etc.) plus your cleaning supplies that you want for the kitchen area and the windows in the breakfast nook (which is a bay window area).
Her laundry room, when she gets it set up the way she wants it, will be totally amazing. She will have lots of storage in there, too, as well as a pole that she can use to hang things up as she takes them out of the dryer and a nice counter top for folding clothes. That's already there but she is going to change the door into it so that they can move the washer and dryer to where they should be so she can have full access to that area.
Chewlee's room is big and has a huge closet that she will probably never outgrow. She enjoyed her first piano lesson and has her keyboard that she practices on next to her bed. The room has plenty of space for when she needs more drawers (when she gets older) to have a nice dresser (she has a chest of drawers for her folded clothes) and her hanging clothes look lost in her closet right now....LOL. I loved the baby's crib which has a rustic look to it but it will convert to a twin bed when he gets older.
The house is HUGE and I swear it seems larger than our house in Margate was except that we had a huge screened in patio at the back of the house that had a hot tub and a wet bar out there. Later, we added a commercial ice machine, too. But they have so much property that it's incredible. The neighbors have some cows out on part of it right now but the kids said they don't care until they go to fence it in once all the boundaries are verified and flagged. That's one thing we have never had was a lot of property. In Florida, that would have cost us a lot of $$$. I can see how great that will be for the kids as they are growing up. Especially once the Princess and Johnnycakes put up a barn and can have horses. Johnnycake's dad has a few and they may be able to board them for him. That would give the kids the opportunity to learn to ride them as well as how to bridle and saddle them. All in good time.......
Cee and I both agreed it was a great house. We also discussed what we were making to bring over for Thanksgiving. I'm making oyster dressing and the sweet potato casserole (which is a MUST at any family get-together). Cee is in charge of making the green bean casserole. I'm going to have to check and make sure she has a big enough pan for that since she IS making it for a crowd. She may not since she really never needs to make that much so why would you have a big pan (what would you call it since it's not a casserole and not really what I think of as a pan...?). Anyway, I have a couple here that she might find she can use.
I brought Cee's GPS home with me so that I can update it since I have an update notice that keeps popping up on my computer. The Beast keeps saying it may not be free but he isn't sure. I told him it will tell me if it requires a fee and I will then let Cee know and how much they claim it is. They originally said it only needs to be updated once a year (and you get a FULL update then) so these pop-ups are puzzling to us but it seems it is more likely a software update since I found them to be much faster than they told me originally and not as many GB's either.
I picked up the deer statue with the broken antler and it looks to be a very easy fix with little touch up required. I want to get the unpainted one I have done before I bring it back to her so she will not be disappointed. This one will be Rudolph to help finish the set. It will only be four reindeer but at least the one that will be repaired looks like a female. LOL! We just have to decide which one of the reindeer names sounds the most female. Vixen? I think that one works on several levels. Don't you?
Okay, time to get this posted. I think it's long enough. Love you all! Be good. Be happy. ***Hugs***
