So it looked like another day of rain but what came down? What looked like tiny hail stones...and, when they hit you, it HURT! I ran outside to bring in the blanket the fur babies like to lay on that was on one of the deck chairs before it got totally wet. I had to shake off the little hail stones but some were just stuck on it. I wrapped that section inside and headed to the dryer with it after picking up the food dish. It, too, was filled with the hail stones and I put it on the table to defrost so that I could drain it before throwing out whatever food was left in it.
I had run outside without a jacket or umbrella so the faux snow was hitting me and it HURT like crazy. It was everywhere and I almost slipped in it in my rush to get the blanket and the food dish. That went on for a couple hours and was really accumulating. It looked like small chunks of snow. When it finally warmed up a few degrees, it all began to melt and then it changed to a light rain. Very yukky weather, indeed. At least I was dressed warmly and the house was nice and warm (in comparison). I wondered where the fur babies were until I went out to the garage and there they were. The Beast had left the garage door open enough for them to get inside and they were laying down, asleep, on the blanket out there.
I have been hearing this strange noise at night that wasn't familiar to me. Tonight, I discovered what it was I was hearing. It was the heating unit out in the garage! The Beast, the little softy, had turned it on so the cats wouldn't get cold during the night. He did that for the past couple of nights and that was the strange *appliance running* noises I was hearing. I thought that I was going a bit nuts because the noise was so foreign to me. I just hadn't heard it in a few years. The only time the Beast normally used it was during the winter when he was working out in the garage. That was when it was very cold here during the winter and he was doing things like building the storage shelves out there, or the various shelves here in the house. He even made the elevated food dish holder for Baron plus two different bookcases. He was busy back then...and more active, as he says.
He finally seems to have recovered from his actions the other day. At least there was no moaning and groaning today. He was also able to put on his own socks and shoes! He prefers NOT to need my help. He says it makes him feel one step closer to a nursing home....LOL.
I saw this ad on TV called *A Place For Mom*. It's about finding a good nursing home for both moms and dads, too. But they don't mention *dad* as much as mom. I guess it's really because most women outlive their husbands but, still! I thought it a bit insensitive. Don't ask me why, I just did. It was a nice commercial just ignoring the fact that a lot of mothers would be watching, too. Not just their kids.
The Beast got the chicks settled in with the heating lamps turned on. It was getting a bit cold out there. He brought the blanket in that was out in the dog house so that we could wash it. With all the fur on it, the fur babies have been in it a bit more than we thought. We know they sometimes slip in under the vinyl cover we have over the barbeque (which is as large as a stove!) but, when they finish growing, they won't be able to get under there, I'm sure. It's just a shame that they are both so anti-house but the Beast worries about their pottying in here and he doesn't really want a litter box in the house. Actually, as small as this house is, there really is not a place we could put one that it wouldn't be in the way, one way or another. Sad.
Well, time for bed. I'm beat tonight and the nasty weather doesn't help. But...it's supposed to be better tomorrow...sunny and slightly warmer. The weather will be improving for the next week, in fact. Hurrah! Love you all. Be good. Be careful. Strange weather afoot! ***Hugs***
Hah! I prefer to think of it as 'No One Cares Where Dad Goes.'
