I'm sorry if you are tired hearing about the chickens but there was an *event* that took place today. Three chickens, for whatever reason (we didn't see what happened prior to this), were apparently sick of the rooster's bullying them or something and they staged a minor rebellion. They surrounded him and, one by one, jumped up in the air, presenting their feet (but not attacking). The rooster looked a bit startled but he just turned and chased after a different chicken in the yard area. That seemed to be that as far as the three hens were concerned but I sure would have loved to see what brought on that behavior.
Today was cold but sunny. It DID warm up to 68 degrees but not until almost 6pm. Weird. But since it turned full dark, the temperature has been dropping steadily. It's down to 57 degrees now and my Weatherbug says it should drop down to 45 degrees. Tomorrow's forecast is a high of 62 and a low of 36 degrees. I can't put away my winter clothes yet because this is just too funky to predict. Yet, Saturday is supposed to be in the 70's. Go figure! I have no idea what to figure to wear from day-to-day. I literally have to wait and check the temperature when I get up and get ready to get dressed.
Today's menu ended up being bbq pork ribs (boneless), pork and beans and some baked apple slices. I did chop up some apples to try on the chickens but I decided to do it tomorrow since the Beast had decided to give them their cracked corn this morning. I was going to wait to do that until after I saw how they took to the apples. The Beast had actually stopped on his way home from doing some mission or other early this morning and bought us some fried chicken from Bojo's.
It was the first time we had it and I was surprised it was so good. We sometimes get their sausage gravy and biscuits but he was feeling rather expansive since he now feels he's got the thief that tried to steal his credit all taken care of. Too bad the police don't really have the manpower to go after these people because we actually have the address that they tried to get the account changed to (and a new card mailed there). It's in Miami...surprise, surprise! Don't these people have real lives?
Worse yet, the customer service people that you usually reach when you call are just plain DUMB. After closing one account because of this guy, the guy called them and demanded a new card be sent to him. He said he had closed it by accident. The Beast had explained to them what was going on and why he was closing the account. He had had it for about 20 years and I guess they hated to see him close it. But, at least they sent it to the CORRECT address (ours) so the Beast called them, reamed them out for reopening it and cut up the card. He has orders noted on the account that, if anyone tries to reopen it, he is to be called immediately. I just hope it works. I hate listening to him recount every single word spoken and in his frustrated tone of voice. It actually gives me a headache. Worse, he forgets what he told me and repeats it. I wonder if he does that to everyone he talks to (like his buddies from church)?
Well, I am going to play a couple episodes of my game before I head for bed. I love you all. Remember to smile at complete strangers and, if you are in a playful mood, wave at random people. It will have them wondering all day who you were....LOL.
