I got in to see my regular doctor this afternoon. Since I promised I would share what he said, here it is. He has no clue what is causing the problems I have been having but he suspects it could be an interaction of one of my newer prescriptions and he also reduced the diabetes medication I have been taking to just one time a day. He did give me instructions to not take the pill he thinks might be causing the weakness and wants me to use my cane for a while to help me keep from falling while I am still feeling unsteady on my feet.
I have to call him tomorrow to remind him not to forget to talk to both of the doctors that I have seen lately. I know he spoke to my vascular doctor because his nurse called me and wants me to come in to see him on Thursday. This is because my doctor heard something strange on my right carotid...a sound he thought was strange compared to the left one. I imagine I will hear from the heart doctor tomorrow. He also wants me to keep some Boost or Glucerna in the house to use when I am feeling weak or dizzy. They are both made for diabetics and can actually be used as a light meal. My sugar was 86 when I went in and I had only eaten my lunch about an hour and a half before I went in for my appointment. My A1C was 5.5, which is very good. He said it always seems to be right in that region so he reduced the number of times I have to take them every day. He thinks that taking them twice a day may actually be contributing to the weakness from low blood sugar since I do try hard to watch my diet. And feeling light headed and weak is usually caused by that. We'll see.
He is hoping to speak to both doctors (like consultants) and he hopes between them, they can come up with a solution to what is causing all the symptoms I have been experiencing. I know he will be researching to try to solve the puzzle. I told him ALL of the symptoms I have experienced in the last month, including the fever, sweating, sleeping for two days or so, etc. He had the lab give him a blood count and he said I was not anemic so he was no longer concerned that I might be bleeding internally or not notice blood in my urine or feces. I assured him that I watched for that since some of my medication focused on that possibility.
So here I am....the Beast actually stayed home from church to make sure I was going to be all right. He really was worried, of that I had no doubt. He ticked me off by actually going into Dollar General to look for me because they only had one cashier and he thought I might have fallen or some such thing. It took me a while to get my urine pads for my leaky bladder and he expected me to get in and out quickly. I told him to stop treating me like I was a weakling or disabled. He made me a burrito when we got home and he also made a pizza that was delicious a short time later. I actually felt good after eating and no longer felt shaky. I asked the Beast to get us some raw shrimp that we can steam here the next time he goes to Walmart. Cee said she checked it out at several stores and it was the best price at Walmart. That actually surprised me but I know she does that so I told that to the Beast since I know it isn't all that cheap at Walmart.
I am heading for bed early tonight after I check my email (again...third time today) and I would love to play my game for a bit before I go to bed.
Love you all. Be good. Be happy and, most of all, be kind to everyone even if they are not kind in return. You don't know what problems they may have and your kindness might make a difference in their lives. ***Hugs***

Forgive me....
As I mentioned before, on Saturday, we were under a lot of possible tornadoes because of the same storm that was headed our way. I stayed up all night to make sure that we weren't in danger from a possible tornado and I could wake the Beast and get over to the shelter at Dennis'.
Our area developed lower temperatures and caused the storm to veer away from us. That happened around four in the morning but the weatherman said it was still possible because the storm was so forceful. Just as I was finally able to relax, who shows up but the Princess and the kids. Of course, they were here because the Beast's aunt had sent the Princess a couple rings and a watch that is a family heirloom. His aunt is 86 or 87 and she wanted someone that was young and healthy in the family to have them.
Her own daughter is older than the Beast and never had any children. When the Beast suggested the Princess since she was very family oriented and she has children she can pass the things to when they are old enough, she was happy that she (the Princess) was a good person. She remembered the Princess from when she lived near us when we lived in Margate and we saw her often. When her daughter and the husband moved to Oregon (I think that's where they moved), she sold her home and moved near her because she was alone (her husband had died) and she was close to her daughter. She also had become close to the Beast and has kept in contact with him via emails. She had the Beast's phone number and occasionally would call him to see how HE was doing.
He was surprised when she called and wanted suggestions on who he thought they should go to. From what she said, he thought the Princess was the perfect person. So she sent it here so the Beast could tell her who it came from and why she wanted her to have it. After it came, the Beast called her and told her what was here for her and who it came from. The Princess didn't stay too long because she found the jewelry and I had told her I was up all night because of the possibility of a tornado forming. So the cute little Gunner gave me a hug and a I gave him a kiss on his cheek.
I really love that kid. He is almost always a happy kid and is very loving. I got a hug from my darling Chewlee who just loves the Jewelry box I gave her for Christmas. Sheepie gave her a bunch of earrings for her pierced ears and SHE was happy I gave that to Chewlee so she had a place to put them. It's a musical box and came with Tinkerbell on top and also had a Wendy so she could change it if she wanted. I thought it was adorable and perfect for a 9 year old. It's her first jewelry box. I hope she keeps it for a long time.
When they left, I finally got to sleep and I slept all day and most of the night. I did wake up to use the bathroom twice that I remember and fell asleep easily afterward. That is why I didn't blog on Sunday. I was just totally exhausted. The Princess knew that I hadn't been feeling well so that was why she wanted to leave so fast.....just in case. It's the reason I only kissed Gunner on his cheek.
However, remember when I said I was positively going to read all the information on each of my medications? Well, I think....due to the duration and symptoms...that I have developed side effects from two of my medications. It explained the different symptoms that I have had. I plan on trying to see my doctor tomorrow. I hope there is something he can do to see if I really am allergic to medications that I have been using for some time. I'm pretty sure that is a possibility and I may have to have those medications changed.
I will let you all know what the doctor says and whether or not I could be suffering side effects from both medications. It's past my bedtime and I am tired so I will say good night to all OR I wish you a great day, depending on when you are reading this. Love you all and thanks for reading about my boring life. ***Hugs***

If You Weren't Sure Before.....
...I had no idea just how sick I was until I saw how many days I was *out of it*. I didn't actually wake up until late this morning and I was shocked to see that it was Saturday. The Beast, when he saw me awake, brought me a huge glass of ice water and tried to feed me but I ended up throwing it up. Trust me, it was the grease. Why he thinks grease is good for illness has to be psychological with him. Either that or he's trying to kill me. He tried making taco boats later but he saw me turning green and I had to run for the bathroom, then hit my chair with an empty glass and a blanket so I am not quite over whatever it is that has a grip on me.
And wouldn't you know it? We are having a tornado outbreak in this area of the country tonight with our area probably affected later tonight. This is not helping me out at all. But it will be a very short blog.
Love you all. Pray for us. Hell, pray for ME. ***Hugs***

Busy Day Today.....
Today I had to get to my laundry. I ended up with two loads of mixed pajamas, undies and regular clothing. I was actually shocked that I had that many in my dirty clothes hamper. But at least I got it done...finally.
It was another of those nice days. It got up to 72 with almost no wind. It didn't start to rain until it got dark. Right now it's 58 degrees F. but we are getting the occasional gusts of wind that seems like it's around 12mph but mostly it's only 7mph. This is the kind of weather that actually seems to make people sick since you don't know how to dress for it. Cool or cold in the mornings but then you get the spring-like weather later and you are stuck with clothing that makes you sweat....unless you layered with lighter clothes underneath the warmer ones.
The poor Princess broke her ankle at home the other day and is on total bedrest with a hard cast on it. She has to go back to the doctor's for an X-ray and to check on how it's healing. She was told that, if it looks good, she will get a walking shoe so she can be up, out of bed. Sounds strange to me but I'm not her doctor. Right now, her hubby has taken over the care of the kids and the house plus all their animals (chickens, rabbits, goat, dog....LOL) and Chewlee has stepped up to take care of Gunner when she is home from school. She told her mother not to worry, that she would care for him. I am so proud of her for that.
I feel bad for Johnnycakes, who comes home from working all night and has to stay up...at least until Chewlee gets home from school. Luckily, Gunner loves his daddy and more than likely helps out with caring for the animals (as much as he can!). I'm glad the weather is good for Johnnycake's sake. That makes things a bit easier since he doesn't have to dress Gunner in winter garb on top of his clothes. The Princess wants that walking shoe so she is being very, very good about the bedrest thing. Johnnycakes makes the food for them all. I think he will be glad when the Princess can take that back. Hopefully, that's just a few days away.
My back was killing me but it was the worst when I tried bending over beyond a certain point. I tried putting my back brace on but it actually made it worse so I gave that up as a lost cause. I ended up taking a couple of my (light) pain pills to get some relief. I still can't really bend over without pain but I can at least sit up now.
I really need to get back to bed so I am going to close this for now. The cat is begging for her squishy food (thank you, Carol, for that part of her Christmas gift. She loves it!) so I need to give her a can first. Love you all. Be happy. Stay healthy. ***Hugs***

Really Crazy Weather.....
Our area of the country has (so far!) been spared the really cold weather hitting most of the country from this latest winter storm. We've had a lot of 70+ days and fairly warm nights. By fairly warm, I mean it is only going down to the mid to lower 50's. That's like it's what we called *Indian summer* when I was a kid.
That was a sudden week of nice, warm weather not long after a blast of winter. But then we knew that REAL winter weather was going to hit us once Indian summer was over. We longed for it and yet hated to see it once it DID happen. I remember staying outside in it as much as I could because I avoided being outside once it was cold and snowy. I was one kid that always, always hated winter. I didn't like snow or the cold and ice that came with it.
I suppose that, once I found out we had little of that here in Alabama is when I started not to mind retiring here if I couldn't stay in Florida. Although it gets cold and I still avoid being out in that as much as possible, it's that we get so little snow. What we do get doesn't last longer than a day or two. We have a picture of Chewlee taken last winter on the one day we got snow on the ground. She was outside, playing with Baron in it and is bundled up and has snow all over her. The very next day, the snow (it was several inches deep) was all gone. That's how much it warmed up and was sunny. So far, we've had no snow but it's only January. February and March are still ahead of us.
When we lived in San Diego during the 70's, we were able to take the kids to *visit* snow by driving up to Julian, which was just a short drive away from the town we lived in on the outskirts of San Diego. Our town was around a 3000 ft. elevation and Julian was at 6000 ft. That was what was usually the *snow line* in our area. We once took the kids up there and they built a snowman on our hood. We then rushed down to the beach in San Diego and took pictures of the kids in their bathing suits next to the snowman on the hood of the car. Yes, we really did go swimming that day even though the ocean was really cold. But it was always cold since the Pacific is a much colder ocean than the Atlantic....at least in the Florida area.
I loved the tidal pools just north of our beach. The kids could see starfish (small ones) and even small octopi that were always around them. And the beaches had lots of those little crabs scurrying around. There were also plenty of mussels and other shellfish around. It was tough making the kids look but not touch. They didn't believe that octupus had a beak that could bite it they felt threatened. I'm just glad the small ones were very wary of anything coming close to them and could slip into nooks and crannies of the coral they were on.
It's 9:30pm and it's 61 degrees F. outside, with no wind so it feels actually warmer than it is. I won't need to turn on my electric blanket tonight... not until it drops down into the 50's. It does seem to feel a bit on the cold side to me around that level but it doesn't require much in the way of heating at least.
Time to say goodnight. Love you all. Be good. Be happy. Be kind. Stay warm. ***Hugs***

Sleeping Better At Nights Now....
I have no real explanation for it but I am sleeping better at night now and not sleeping until noon or so. I still get up at least twice to use the bathroom but I can go right back to sleep afterward. It's actually kind of nice. I haven't done that in ages.
What it means to me is that I really need to start doing my blog before I feel the need to get some sleep, however. Most of the time I remember this unless I am on Facebook. I have so many relatives (mostly cousins...we ARE an Irish family after all), that keeping in touch with how their lives are going takes me hours. I also have my girilfriends that I like to know how things are going with them. Some post a lot, others not so much. My sister, Bratfink, tried to warn me about this problem but I didn't really believe her. Now I know she was right. However, she is on it, too.....LOL.
I had another really good day yesterday. I think I really did have a light case of the flu that put me down for almost a week. True to form, I slept most of the time while my body fought the good fight to get me over it. Right now, I am just in pain from my back and my back brace doesn't seem to be helping much. At least, not like it use to. I don't believe that copper in a brace really helps but I am tempted to get that Tommy Copper back brace that the athletes swear helps them just because I would love anything that got rid of this pain. Even coughing is painful.
The Beast found a kit and instructions on how to make *real* tamales online and sent for it. It gets here on Wednesday. I watched a sister-in-law makes some once and I know it's not really tough, just time consuming. As long as you have the corn husks, you can make them by the bunch once you get the hang of it. I'll let you know how that works out.
Freddie is finally getting some feathers on his rear end and it seems to give him some kind of confidence. He's crowing more now. He looks much prouder, too. He also won't take any abuse from the girls and is always the last one in the coop.
I guess winter is the time of year that egg production is more spotty than during the summer. We are lucky to get three or four eggs every day. Of course, we only have six hens left since the one was killed by something unknown. We've had days when we got just two. I know that the hens don't lay eggs every day. I think 280 eggs each year from them is about the norm. That's a lot of eggs but it doesn't add up to an egg every day. We use a lot of eggs and give some away to friends. My friend, Diane, is almost the only one that returns the cartons, however. She and Dennis use a surprising amount of eggs every week. I think she makes eggs for their breakfast every day.
I decided that it's time for me to make some tapioca again since I have it in the house once more. The Beast got me some when I made my cherry pie. I use tapioca to hold the cherries inside the pie so it doesn't ooze out when you cut a piece out of it. It firms it up nicely and you don't see the tapioca once it's baked. It doesn't take all that much either. Just about a half cup of it, cooked up a bit then added to the cherry filling. I just wish I could find the pearl tapioca to use for tapioca pudding. I like it much better but none of the stores around us have it. You need to go to a specialty store in Huntsville and I am not going to make that trip just for that. It's not that important to me. I'll use what I have.
I'll use half-and-half for the milk to make a richer taste to it. I have always loved tapioca, although I know a lot of people who don't. I can't imagine why.
Well, I think I will go get that done now. Love you all. Be good and be sure to tell those you love that you do. Life is short and it's best to do it now rather than regret an opportunity that you let pass by. ***Hugs***

So Many Questions......
First of all, I am still feeling good and even cooked a dish from scratch (shrimp, fresh mushrooms, green onions, celery, diced garlic, some secret spices, mushroom soup, beef broth, served over egg noodles). It was delicious! We ate it for both lunch AND our dinner.
As the day wore on and I was watching TV, it made me ask myself a lot of questions. If you have seen that plastic exercise board that you sort of rock and roll on that sells for $39.95, you'll understand. It's simply a curved piece of plastic that anyone 400 lbs or under can use that helps *tone your whole body*. The gals that invented it went on shark tank and this one woman millionaire saw it and decided it was the *next hot item* for people like herself that like being toned but hate to exercise.
The claim is that you can *feel the burn* within 60 seconds or get your money back including return shipping. Until they mentioned the price, I was actually interested in it because I can't really do regular exercises at all. Hell, I'm just glad I can walk more than 100 paces without support before my hips start hurting. If I lean on a shopping cart, I do better but still have a problem. It looked like something that might actually help me out. BUT.....$39.95 is just too expensive for me to justify spending for PLASTIC. Why would that woman, who funded all the start-up costs, think that it would sell like crazy for that price? Am I wrong? Or is it just the thought that the Beast would give me a tough time for spending it on plastic? I really can't decide.
And what about this Human Growth Hormone they are touting? I believe that it was banned or something a while back but it could be my faulty memory. They don't mention the price of it after the intro offering of just $29.95 (plus shipping and handling) and, guess what? They give you TWO bottles for the price of one...just pay separate handling for the second bottle. BUT....I looked up the price and, guess what? It's $98.00!!!! I'll bet they don't explain that to the suckers that buy the *introductory* price but it will sure be a shock in 30 days or 45 days (it's never a full 30 days before they bill and ship the next supply but 2 bottles might extend that just a bit) The claim is that it kicks up your body to make HGH so that it does all kinds of miraculous things, like eliminating wrinkles. Has anyone else noticed how many products are touting wrinkle reductions or eliminations? Or is it just me because I've become more wrinkled the last couple years? See what I mean? Questions, questions and more questions.
It seems like I am paying more attention to commercials these days. Is it because I keep hoping against hope that there will be some miracle product at a reasonable price that will suddenly show up or what? And hair products, too. My hair, which is baby fine to start with, seems to be thinning on me, especially on one side. So those commercials catch my attention....the ones that are for women that say they will stimulate hair growth. I'm sure you've seen them.
One is *Women's Rogaine*, which not only is pricey ($50.00 a bottle) but, from what I heard, works but you don't dare stop using it because then all the hair that was *stimulated* starts falling out on you. There's another one that you have to subscribe to that is cheaper but not by much. Can't even consider that much due to the money that the Beast spends but he never joins anything that is deducted monthly to keep him supplied. He just flat out buys whatever has taken his fancy because he really believes that what's his is his and what's mine is his, too. I really wish I had been born rich instead of beautiful....LMAO!
It's just too bad that the majority of my older relatives are dead and none of those alive would consider naming me in their will. If I ever inherited any money, the Beast would never see a penny of it...ever! Maybe that sounds awful to anyone who only knows the surface Beast but, trust me, if he got to be able to *share* it in any way, I am the one that would never see a dime of it. No way would I let that happen. At least he knows better than to ask me. The money I DID get from my father, he never even tried. I even opened a second checking account for it. But that is neither here nor there to the questions.
I guess I should close for today. My back is KILLING me and I really don't want to take another pain pill so I should go lay down and see if I can stop the hurting and get some sleep. Love you all. Let me know about the questions I've been asking myself. Are you asking yourself a lot more questions these days, even if they are not the same? I'd be interested to know. Be good. Be kind. Stay warm. ***Hugs***
