Everything went as planned as far as my getting into the hospital. I was in one of the outpatient rooms where they make you strip down to your nothings and put one of those awful gown on. But I spread the blanket over me, leaned back on the pillow, found a channel I wanted to watch on the TV and just waited.
The nurses came in and did their thing with me. Put a line in my hand for the special IV needed for the angiogram, which was supposed to come first for me. Had the most unusual BP that I have ever had....142/46. I said to the nurse, *Shouldn't you be worrying that I am dying with a pressure like that?* She just laughed and said, *No, I've seen others like that more than you know.* When I asked if they lived, she just laughed. I thought the machine was broken especially when the next one that was taken showed 165/62. But, later on just before they let me go home unexpectedly, it was more normal although still a bit high for me.....140/65.
My doctor, bless his heart, when he found out the lab was backed up due to someone having a heart attack in it and then needing a coronary bypass (how that caused it to be backed up, I have no idea) but he came into my room when he found out I was still waiting. This was at 1:30pm...I had been without food or drink for 13.5 hours at this time. I was also a bit on the cranky side. He came in and offered to switch days on the things needed so I chose to get the stent/whatever installed for the IV's today and do the arteriogram tomorrow. I found out after the surgery that I could go home IF I wanted (LOL....who would chose to stay, huh?) so I called the Beast and told him to pick me up after he picked up Chewlee from gymnastics.
Now, inbetween times, the Home Health people called me THREE times. First to tell me that Medicare didn't cover the IV's but the prescription portion of my supplemental would and there would be a co-pay which they would call and find out for me what that was. THEN, they found out the doctor put the stent-thingy in today and tried to come to the house tomorrow to do their thing. I told them HELL, NO...I will be having an arteriogram done at the hospital so we need to be thinking about Wednesday for them to come at the earliest. So they said they would call me on Wednesday morning about coming over. The final phone call was to tell me the co-pay on the antibiotics would be $45. Wonderful.
I've used these HH people before but never found them so annoying as I did today. Perhaps it was because I was hungry. I don't know. I hope I do better with them on Wednesday.
The stent has become a bit painful where it is over the shoulder blade. I even hurts when I swallow. I have to ask the doctor how long this stays in and what will be required to remove it. I'm just glad I have pain pills here to help out when it gets too painful. I thought the doctor was going to call a prescription in for me but he's using my tramadol prescription that is for my feet to help with the pain from this thing he installed so I can administer the IV myself after the first time. The nurse is going to show me how to clear and clean the line afterward so we don't end up with an infection at the site.
Love you all. Hope there are no more surprises in store for us. Have a great week. **Wink**
