Okay, I will admit I am NOT politically correct, dammit. It's going to be Christmas, not some damn Holiday. Screw that crap. When did we all become such pussies? Let the government (which we are NOT supposed to let interfere in religious matters, including Holidays) tell us what to call because some people might....MIGHT....or even if they are, offended? Are you offended by the Passover or Hannukah? Do the Muslim holidays offend you? Hell, no. Those are parts of their religious practices, dammit. We are supposed to be a nation of tolerance. When did that end? Who the hell gave the government the power to dictate what the hell goes on as far as our religions go? Sheesh. We are all pansies these days.
Oh my! Politically correct? Bullshit. We are wimps when even the manger scenes can no longer be put up in public places. Now if the government wants to pretend they have no religious affiliations or want to ban certain things from public official buildings, that's their problem but it should never have drifted down to become OURS.
I'm getting so tired of hearing those words....politically correct. Aren't you? Little by little, our way of life is being taken away from us. Books are being banned because some of them are not *politically correct*. Most of them are actually HISTORY....maybe not history as in our history books (used to be) but stories that were a product of their times. THEIR times, not ours. Life has seen a LOT of changes over the centuries and we should not deny it because, know what? If we don't know about such things as slavery, it could actually happen again. Oh, not in our lifetime but if the *politically correct* keep trying to rewrite and erase our history as it has been doing, who knows what may happen in the future? Those who do not read about and learn about the ways and reasons that such things happened and then were changed could....I say could...end up making the same mistakes in their future.
We do not know what the future holds, thankfully. But for heaven's sake, let's not keep giving up what principals and freedoms that were hard fought for over centuries to minorities that have somehow come into such power over us. We allowed it. We can stop it cold by not allowing it to go any further. I don't know if we can regain all the freedoms we have lost by, by God, I sure would love to try it....a little at a time if that's what it takes. Dig in your feet and say it like it is: Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy New Year! **Wink**
