Some Awful News....

I've mentioned that Baron has made friends with one of the dogs that are guarding/herding the goats that are in the field that has barbed wire around it.  I found out that the Beast was mistaken about it being goats they were guarding.  It's sheep.  He finally saw some up closer.  *Rolling eyes*  How you could mistake sheep for goats is beyond me but I digress.

Today I gather the dog got out from the field, through the fence and was running around our neighborhood.  One of the neighbor kids was out with his small dog and, when he saw the other dog coming towards his dog (and not in a friendly way), he leaned down to pick up his dog in an effort to protect it and the guard dog attacked him.  He bit his head and ripped part of his scalp and ear.  I was just horrified to hear about it since we know the boy.

A neighbor saw the attack and called the police.  Why the dog didn't keep attacking him, we weren't sure about but it probably was the neighbors husband coming out and yelling at the dog.  The boy was taken to the hospital.  The owners of the dog that attacked him showed up (someone obviously knew them and had called) and they were incredibly sorry about it all.  Guard dogs of goats and sheep are NOT friendly type animals to people.  They have a job to do and that is all they are bred for.  The one that made friends with Baron obviously just recognized Baron as an alpha male.

There was no need to impound the dog because it had current rabies shots and his tag.  The owners will pay the bills for the medical services that the boy requires and they were making changes to the fence to ensure their guard dog wasn't able to get out again.

I was online, talking to my friend, Carol, when the Beast came in to tell me about Anthony (the neighbor kid) and she had to leave because she was at work.  Yes, she is better now.  *Grin*  I was about to tell her what happened when she had to sign off.  *Sigh*

I had a real taste for cottage cheese so I had some with pears today.  I had put the can in the fridge a couple days ago so it tasted wonderful.  Of course, it always tastes good when you satisfy your taste buds....LOL!

It was mostly a pain-free day again until after dinner.  Then my stapled area started to hurt.  It's only a few more days that they will be in but my body thinks they should be gone NOW!  So far I had kept from taking a pain pill but it's keeping me from sleeping and that is why I am up at this hour.  I'll take it and try to sleep again after I post this.

It was a so-so day.  Only 60 degrees out but the birds were eating the suet as well as the seeds.  The Beast had to run out and get more seed for them but they are fun to watch.  The little ones are really mean, even to the bigger birds like cardinals.   They are also mean to each other.  Some days they line up and take turns but, most of the time, they chase whoever is already at one of the feeders away.  The one chased away will return and chase the feeding bird away in his turn.  It's like one big bully fest.  LOL!

Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer.  I sure hope so.  Today was supposedly the first day of spring.  We are also supposed to have some more sunshine for a change.  It was another overcast day today.

Love you all.  I wish you a wonderful weekend.  Be good.  Be careful.  Stay warm and dry.  ***Hugs***
