I was up early today and started my cabbage soup since I had really had a yen for it for several days already. It's time consuming to make but so worth it. To me, at least, and the Princess loves it, too. I'll have to save her some and give it to her tomorrow if she actually comes by. She was having company over today so I didn't even mention it to her. But I did call her because I got mail today for Chewlee from my BFF, Carol. From the sticker on it, it's a belated birthday card (which Chewlee will still love!) She also sent me one for my (belated) birthday. It has the most awesome card in it. Very touching to me, anyway. I love it.
When the Beast got home from his outing with his church members, he was hungry and was so glad I had made the soup. He came into my computer room to tell me he thought it had turned out excellent and that he had even had two bowls of it. Then he ran out again to his church since they were showing a movie there and he didn't want to miss it.
When he got home around 4pm, he had stopped off to pick up some bologna, cheese and the Chicago Italian bread will like figuring we could have soup and sandwiches for dinner (which we did). I was already deep into watching Sharknado and anticipated watching Sharknado 2 and 3 after that. Not that I love those movies. It was just all that was on that I hadn't seen a hundred times before. I mean, my usual channels were all showing nothing but repeats that I had already watched multiple times and just couldn't watch one more time without slitting my wrists out of boredom. I couldn't say that about any of the Sharknado movies because they at least had a couple laughs buried in them (or at least groaners for bad acting and ridiculous story lines). The *new* Piranha movie was both adult in places and so damn ridiculous, I would have turned it off if anyone had come into the room. All I could think about was how Bratfink must be loving it (if she didn't just record it because she had gone to bed...in which case, she will find out how much gratuitous violence and bloody massacres are in it...LOL!
I am off to bed shortly after posting this since I managed to just take a regular nap at a decent time and am now ready for bed for the night. I was hoping to talk to Mustachio but he wasn't online again tonight. I know he's working 12 hour days for a while now and there's still the chance that his union will be going on strike within the next month or so. I'm sure he's dead tired when he gets home (and hungry!). I have no idea if Sheepie is cooking anything for him or if she's trying to find herself a job or what? I guess I will have to wait for his next days off...whenever that is. I don't want to call him in case he's already crashed for the night or may even be napping before eating once he gets home. It can be tough trying to be a considerate mother especially when you are nosey....LOL.
Love you all. Stay cool during this hot weather. Stay dry in those areas where it's been raining. Drive safely. Have a nice Sunday. ***Hugs*** (And a special bunch of hugs to my BFF, Carol!)
HINT#1: If your child never wants to eat his vegetables at dinnertime, try putting out a plate of raw veggies like carrots, celery, and broccoli right before dinner (*along with their favorite dip, of course*). Since he will be hungry, and probably pestering you in the kitchen, it will be more likely that he will succumb to this healthy snack.
HINT#2: If your driveway or garage floor has become an easy place to do some Rorschach testing thanks to the grease, oil, and transmission fluid stains all over the place, take heart---clean concrete is only 10 minutes away. Spray any stained areas with oven cleaner, then let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse off with a hose and the stains will disappear.
I no longer watch the Syfy 'piranha' movies, whether I've seen them or not. Just FYI. xox
