A sleepover means Chewlee is here. She packed to spend two days (minimum according to her but...she says she could make three days...LOL). After she had been dropped off by her daddy, she made her rounds, checked on all the goodies we had and then went on a scooter ride with the Beast when he took Baron for his run.
She went across the street to visit with Dennis and Di briefly and then went exploring in what she refers to as *the forest*. That's actually the undeveloped lot that is two lots down from our house. The lot that was cleared and has some fruit trees and decorative stuff that is between our house and *the forest* is ours. We purposely bought it so that there would be no neighbor on that side at least. The one on the other side of our house was already built on (and occupied) so there was nothing we could do about that.
Anyway, the Beast had actually cut a pathway that curves this way and that around some of the trees mostly for Baron's benefit. The pathways were what Chewlee was following and she found it fun and interesting because, where there was no path, the growth is very tall and varied. She asked the Beast to try and find out if this one little girl from his church could come by. She wants to show her *the forest* and take her there to explore. The Beast didn't call today but will in the morning to see if her father would bring her by to keep Chewlee company. If not, it won't really matter to Chewlee. She told me she likes to come here because it's interesting and different. In reality, I think she enjoys my letting her play the games on Pogo. She's quite good at a lot of them, but especially the hidden object games. She's got eyes like a hawk....LOL.
The Princess stopped by with Gunner and the Beast was totally shocked to see how well Gunner walks and even runs now. It was just a short time ago that Gunner was able to stand but was unsteady on his feet. The Beast has forgotten just how quickly they grow up, especially at this age.
The Princess and Johnnycakes house is sold. They have agreed on all the terms with the buyer (they are buying VA) and the contract will be signed tomorrow. *Sob* I don't mind the sale of the house but I sure hate to see them move so much further away from us. But I understand their reason. Oh, and Chewlee loves the house. Her comment to me? *Grandma, the rooms are so BIG!* LOL...through the eyes of a child!
Of course, their getting the house they want is still up in the air. They will submit their offer tomorrow and then wait and see if the owners accept it. So say a little prayer for them. You always want your kids to be happy and they believe they will be both happy and more comfortable with this new home.
Chewlee and I have enjoyed each others company. She had to show me all the outfits she brought with her (and her pj's). She cleaned my brushes for me to show me her version of *easy*. I cleaned the one with the most hair because I have an easy way to do that with a round brush. But she did a good job and it WAS quick, too. It was fun to watch her face as she was doing it because she thought I was learning something new. Too cute!
I got to see Chewlee with Gunner today since he was in a playful move. I was happy to see how much Chewlee loves him (Remember when she was so unhappy that her mother was having a boy?). They were rolling on the floor here in my computer room and she was tickling him. He has the cutest laugh! He rubbed noses with her and kissed her on her cheeks as she was doing the same to him. Adorable!
We watched Jurassic Park (she loves her dinosaurs) and then it was Harry Potter again. But I love those movies so I sure don't mind. Bratfink said on her FB page that if there ever came a time when she didn't love the HP movies, then bury her because she obviously is dead. LOL! I have to admit, I feel the same. I would have played Avatar but...Chewlee doesn't really understand how awesome the movie is and she ends up getting bored. I save that for my enjoyment. I love that movie almost as much as I do the Harry Potter ones.
It was quite warm today but not as hot as it has been the past couple of weeks. It wasn't bad at all for the Beast AND for Chewlee. She always seems to have a bit higher body temperature and she even sweats in her sleep when the AC is on. She will kick off the sheets in her sleep and it doesn't make a difference. She still sweats. Out of my four natural children, I only had two that did the same thing. I have no idea if they still do it, either. I've never asked because it seems like a strange thing for a mother to ask their child, especially at their ages. Right now, Buttmunch does but that's because she is going through menopause with most of the same complaints that *I* had when I went through it. Night sweats are the worst! I would get totally soaked and have to change my night shirt at least twice during the night. I also had to change pillows. I was just glad I had a short hairdo that was easily blown dry. My hair would get totally soaked!
Chewlee and I also went through one of the family albums. She was so shocked to find out how much she and her mother looked alike at the same ages. She loved it though because she figures that, when she is *grown up*, she's going to be as pretty as her mother. I gave her a couple things to keep. Three tiny samples of Burt's Bee products (facial cleanser in a tube, toner in a bottle and the lip balm in a tiny tin). I also gave her what is left of her favorite nail polish that she always painted my nails with and then I would do her nails and toes. We didn't do that tonight because I think my nail polish remover is in my regular bathroom and the Beast was already in bed so I didn't want to disturb him. She has some nail polish on her already but it's flaking off. Ditto for me. We will probably do that tomorrow some time.
Gunner finally let me feed him, I thought I would mention. Chewlee was eating a salami sandwich when they dropped by and Gunner headed right to it. She was almost finished with half of it but she gave me the plate and Gunner headed right to me. I tore off small sections (Chewlee instructed me how big a piece to give him...lol) and he was like a little bird. He finally wanted me to pop a section in his mouth and give him one for his hand. That way, he could pop the one in his hand in his mouth as soon as he was done eating the one I had given him. So it was one directly in his mouth and one for his hand. As soon as he was done, he was back for more. I swear, he would have eaten the whole thing if the Princess hadn't come to my room and gotten him for the ride home.
Oh boy. I just saw how long and meandering this post is. Forgive me for being such a grandmother. In this case, however, they both are my great-grandchildren. Wow! Am I old or what? My sister, Bee, is also a great-grandmother. Neither one of us was actually as old as most great-grandmothers are and we sure as hell don't feel as old as we are! ROFLMAO!
Love you all. Gotta go. This was another case of getting up to go to the bathroom and then remembering I had to do my post. I will probably make a bit of potato salad tomorrow to go with the chicken breasts that I will grill. I also have some chicken tenders that should be eaten before they get frost-bitten. Chewlee will love those along with the Ranch dressing she insists on. I love my honey mustard that I make myself. Yum!
Be good. Be happy. Smile a lot because smiling makes your whole body react to a positive attitude. And, most of all, remember that strangers are just friends you haven't met yet! ***Hugs***
HINT#1: An easy way to make sure your earrings always stay together is to thread the posts through buttons, then attach the backs.
HINT#2: Our closets are kind of a mess, but we manage never to misplace part of a sheet set. That's because, after washing and folding them, we put them right inside one of the pillowcases, which is a convenient way to make sure everything stays in one place.
