I spent a large part of today watching the Jesse Stone movies on Hallmark Channel. Tom Selleck plays a sheriff (Jesse) in a small town called Paradise. It's actually kind of dark and moody but I do love Tom Selleck. *Grin* I've seen some of these before but still like them. Am I weird? Well, if so, I really don't care....LOL. I just like to see Tom Selleck. He IS a good actor, too, so that's a bonus.
The Beast went out and bought himself a machete today to chop down some of the big weeds that have grown in our planters. They were especially thick in the section that we didn't use this year to plant any veggies in. Even though he thought he had pulled out the asparagus in that section, I saw there are some still in there but they've grown too tall and reedy to be useful or edible. We may just empty out all the soil in them and fill them up again with new soil for next year. We'll have to do that before the weather gets too cold. These old bones don't do cold!
Anyway, I worried about him since he can be clumsy at times. One of my sister's said to just wait for him to start screaming and call 911. LOL! He sometimes screams when he's frustrated (and swears like a sailor!) so I would have to check to make sure he was bleeding first. But he only managed a small cut on one finger (dammit!) so far. He'll be back out there tomorrow so there's still hope! (I am SO bad!).
I spent the day washing and refreshing a few blankets. They do get musty after a while. Tomorrow it's the towels that are in the closet since I haven't rotated them and I noticed they are starting to get a funky odor. It's just been easier to put the clean ones on top instead of on the bottom like I used to always remember to do. I've just gotten lazy about that. I've already done the sheets. Now if I can only get the big bin of sheets down from the attic.... I think there are some towels in there, too. *Sigh* This is one of the times I really miss my great-nephew, who was always so helpful. RIP my darling boy!
I am planning on going over to sister Cee's tomorrow if she's not got anything planned. I want her to take me over to this place called Little Lots where she found the candles I like for just $2. instead of the $5. that I usually pay. They aren't as fragrant as others that are more expensive but we've had bills to pay the past month and more for the next month. *Sigh* With our wanting to take the trip to Chicago in October, it's going to be a squeaky thing. Especially if we rent me a car to get around (we will put it on our charge card). That way, it won't hit us so hard since it won't have to be paid until November. <Always thinking!>
It was hotter than we were told it would be today. The Beast greased himself up on his face and neck with a high SPF lotion before he started working on the yard (and mowing the lawn). He had his normal long-sleeve shirt on, too. He has to wait for two months from his face treatment for skin cancer until he can get his arms done. I know she wanted to do his face first because of how close it is to the eyes and brain (for the spread of skin cancer in those areas) but his arms are just awful. It will be nice when you can put your hand on them without feeling those!
Well, love you all. Hope you enjoyed your weekend. Mine was peaceful. Be kind to everyone this week and don't expect anything in return. It's nice and should make you feel good about yourself. ***Hugs***
