The Beast Ruins Back Ribs....

The Beast, as I've written about before, fancies himself a Chef lately.  He is constantly experimenting with different spices (without knowing anything about them for the most part) and marinades.  Today he just ruined some baby back ribs with one of his marinade experiments.

I tried to tell him that you do NOT cook the meats in the marinades.  They are supposed to lend a *slight* taste to meat, not take it over entirely.  Does he listen?  No, of course not.  He's a man and he just knows better.  His cooking efforts have been for the last two years.  I've been cooking since I was eight.  Lots of difference there but that doesn't seem to matter to him.

So he takes the expensive baby back ribs and marinades it in some kind of *smoky* marinade, then dumps it all into the Genie cooker.  I knew when I smelled it that he had used the marinade as a cooking liquid and was prepared for the result.  It was just AWFUL!   He slathered the Sweet Baby Ray barbeque sauce on it but there was no saving them.  The taste of the marinade went right down to the bone.  Too *smoky* AND too salty, too.  I was left feeling like I was parched and had to drink a couple of glasses of ice water to get over that.  At least he was left with an embarrassed look on his face.  But there are a couple pounds of baby back ribs that are going to hit the garbage can.  That is a dirty shame.  When will men learn?

I've got a sinus cold, complete with sneezing and the need to blow my nose constantly.  You would think that all the antibiotics I've been taking would keep me from getting anything but, no, this must be a virus that antibiotics just don't touch.  Sheesh.  When I am asleep, I sometimes wake up, chocking, from the sinuses draining down my throat.  The medication for drying them up only works for so long.  I'm hoping to get over this fast.

Tomorrow (Monday) the nurse comes to draw my blood again and take it in for testing.  Then the doctor will get the results and make his decision about whether or not I have to continue taking the IV's.  The last infusion will be tomorrow and then I have to use the heparin shot to prevent any clots from forming in the tubing until I see the doctor on Friday.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have to do any more and I can get this thing removed.

Tomorrow is Chewlee's awards ceremony.  Well, not hers but the schools.  I am hoping I wake up early enough to make it.  She asked me if I could go and I told her I would try.  It would be nice to surprise her.  I need a good night's sleep for that so I'm going to wait until I go to bed to take my meds.  I'm hoping that works.

Love you all.  Keep warm and dry.  Drive carefully.  **Hugs**

  1. Actually, it's not a surprise that the antibiotics didn't help. They only work on bacterial infections, not viral infections. Hope you feel better soon.
