A Little Late.....

Okay, okay....a LOT late!  LOL...but who's checking?  For one thing, yesterday night I only got two hours sleep.  Then I was afraid to go back to sleep for fear that I would sleep through Michael's birthday party.  So, I took my time with my shower, blowing my hair dry and getting dressed.  Then I went over to Tara's early thinking I could help get things ready for the party if nothing else.  I did manage to contribute a little to that effort but it's tough with a little dynamo like Tara around.  Cee and Mia were already doing things to help get the food ready that Tara was committed to providing.

So I mainly just chatted and tried to stay out of everyone's way and even went outside for a bit to give Chance an audience to watch his bouncing on his (safely netted) trampoline.  I had already assisted in salting the potato salad (but not enough....lol) as seeing Tara add more salt to the mix showed me so I just sat outside and enjoyed the air until Mia and Cee come out, too.  It turned out to be a really nice day for everyone to be able to stay outside.

Later on, after Keith and his girlfriend arrived, Michael, his wife and...surprise, surprise (to me) so did Rhett Butler.  Rhett is Tara and Michael's father and Cee's ex-hubby.  He had come up from Florida to help celebrate Michael's 40th with him.  (Bet you didn't know Rhett had so many kids, did you?  LOL).  It wasn't long after that when Tara announced the food was ready and we all started piggy-ing up to the trough.  I had just come out of the kitchen and was heading outside when the Princess and family had arrived.  I tried enticing Gunner outside with the offer of food but his father was already giving him bites so I lost out...for a short time.

Poor Gunner was actually a bit confused about seeing me somewhere that he didn't expect me to be.  I think it actually took him a bit to really believe it was me at Aunt Tara's house.  But food won out when always made readily available and I was paying attention. *Grin*

We took some pictures (some on various phones) then the Princess took a few on a REAL camera (None of which I have seen posted on FB, BTW....hint, hint).  She and the family didn't stay all that long (not even to eat the cake but they took some home along with some of the leftovers....which we all did).  I gave my hugs and kisses to them before they left along with my normal...*love you!* as they left.

Tara was, by then, pretty much pushing us out the door since she was expecting her new boyfriend to show up and didn't want to subject him to the ENTIRE family's close scrutiny and who can blame her for that?  It was just funny.  When I got home, I already knew the Beast would be home shortly so I waited rather than just going ahead and collapsing like I felt I should/could/would.  It turns out that the Beast felt the same way but mostly due to Baron constantly waking him up the previous night.  So we both started off our days already tired.

I went to bed after us both saying we were bone tired and only got up once during the night.  When I got up this morning, I had a cup of coffee and ended up climbing under my warm blanket and sleeping for another two hours.  I was up about two hours when the Princess and family showed up to collect the Christmas ornaments (and both the large and small trees) as well as some special decorations that I had gotten from the Beast's Auntie Emm, some dating over 40 years ago.  They were special to me because she had made them for me and I wanted them passed on to someone who knew and cared about them in the same way.  I know she will care for them.  But I know a couple are still missing so I have to get up there and take another look around for myself and then go scour the cottage to see if they might have been put out there for some reason.

Johnnycakes discovered (or at least thinks) that we have a squirrel in our attic area.  Now the Beast will have another project to work on.  Finding and getting rid of it somehow without having it die up there....  It does, however, explain some of the sounds I heard up there over the spring and summer.

That really brings up up-to-date on my exciting life.  Oh...and I just wanted to mention this since I was told I hadn't mentioned it.  Baron is damn near back to his old self again.  He's running around the circle again with his head held high and his tail up, trying to beat the Beast back to the garage...and without cutting across the grass instead of staying on the road.  Did I ever mention that the doctor DID manage to cut Baron's overly long nails while he was under anesthesia?  It almost seems weird that I can't hear his nails click-clicking on the floors any more.  But I will make sure they are NEVER allowed to grow so long ever again.

Love you all.  Hope you are having nicer weather than we did today (cold, overcast and a light rain from time-to-time).  Our weather is supposed to briefly improve and even get much warmer for a few days but you know how those weather people lie...LOL!  Be happy, won't you?  Smile a lot for no reason and make people wonder what the hell is going on with you.  ***Hugs***
