The Beast was actually able to shave today so that means his face has pretty much healed. Last time, which was just two months ago, it took him over a week to reach this point. He didn't end up with scabs this time and we took that as a good sign. It means that it was only surface cells that needed to be killed off. The lack of scabbing indicates that his face probably won't need another treatment for some time.
I'm really worried about how long it will take his arms to heal once that starts. He can't start on it until December (it takes two months between treatments no matter where on the body it takes place) but at least he won't be too worried about outside chores that need to be done. The grass, although it continues to grow here due to our mild weather, will slow down and not drive him nuts.
We discovered that we have been paying taxes on our property now for a couple years that we have actually been eligible for it. No one over 65 (I think that is the age) that has no income other than SS has to pay property taxes. We became eligible once the Beast stopped doing any consulting work and we had completed the sale of our Guntersville property to my niece, Tara. We just have to fill out some papers and no more property taxes! Isn't that a hoot? I knew the cost of living here was incredibly cheaper than Florida (and lots of other states) but I had no idea how great Alabama treats their senior citizens.
I have a couple friends that are thinking about moving out of their state because of the cost of living (and especially the property taxes!) and I MUST let them know about this good news. It would be nice to have not only family here but also to have long-time friends! Don't you think? Of course, the pace here may be too slow but they can always come for a visit and decide for themselves. We do have bigger, busier cities that are nearby if they want to visit them occasionally. I think the friendly people here may be a deciding factor. I know it shocked me when we first moved here. They actually look at your face when they walk by you in parking lots and in stores, too. I found that incredible.
The Beast will be gone tomorrow to Birmingham. His church is having a big regional meeting and he feels it will be safe for him to attend. It's held indoors so he will be sheltered from the sunlight (just in case) and he hates that he's missed one of his local services, let alone this one. He knows the area that his church members head for so he will be able to meet up with his church friends and will also be able to talk to new ones from other areas, too. That always makes him happy (and I enjoy my time alone).
However, tomorrow afternoon, I will be heading to a party for my nephew, Michael. His birthday was actually today (Friday), but it allows his nephews to attend and the rest of us are flexible. Tara has her own business so the weekends are better for her, too. It's Michael's big 40 birthday and Tara wants to make sure that he doesn't feel like it's the end of the world. Hell, I loved when I turned 40. It was a great age, I felt. I truly enjoyed mine. I wish that when we turn our clocks back, I could turn mine back to 40! LOL!
Time to head back to bed. The Beast will probably wake me up at 6am when he gets up and that's not long from now. I didn't intend to stay up after using the bathroom except that's when I remembered I hadn't written this.
Love you all and I wish you a great weekend. Be happy. Smile at those poor people that don't have one. You can spare one of yours, right? ***Hugs***
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, RAVEN AND MY NEPHEW, MICHAEL. I'LL BET YOU TWO DIDN'T REALIZE (OR REMEMBER) THAT YOU SHARED A BIRTHDAY, DID YOU??? LOVE YOU BOTH!
