Starting To Pack....

Today I spent washing and drying the clothes that I think I want to take with  me to Chicago.  I say *I think* because I have to make sure everything I take will fit into the small suitcase.  That is the only one that will qualify as a carry on bag.  Since I will be there for six days, that makes it tough.  I'll take my warm jammies from Carol with me but I can't wear them the whole time so I need to take a couple sleep pants and tops with me, too.  Then there's the matter of clothes.  I figure I have to wear my heavy sweater since that will take up too much room because it's so bulky.  I had to nix taking my Fall weight jacket for the same reason.  I can't take that as my carry-on jacket because I want to take my down coat with me.

Chicago isn't called the Windy City for no reason.  The wind will make the cold breezes go right through you and that would make me miserable if I didn't have a warm enough coat with me.  If I could be guaranteed no wind while I was there, my Fall jacket would be enough.  A lot of stuff I can throw in my purse since it's large (like my gloves and makeup).  I'm bringing my own toothbrush but I'll buy toothpaste there.  I need room for my blowdryer and my favorite brush, too.  AND, of course, my medications.  Those things all take up room.  *Sigh*  It's not easy being me....LOL!p

I had to call the Princess today to tell her I needed my cane returned to me.  Chewlee used it for *Dress Up Like An Old Person* day at school.  She wanted that for more authenticity.  I'm sure lots of the kids could identify with that for an old person...LOL.  I normally don't use it but keep it here for times when I am going to do more than usual walking.  That's when I need it.  Since I will have to walk through three airports, coming and going, I'm definitely going to need it.  The 3 airports are our here, Atlanta and then Chicago's Midway.  They've done so much renovating and expanding of Midway that the walk to where I can catch the shuttle bus to the car rental place is a LONG one.  At least Atlanta has the people mover but I probably won't be able to use that this time because I am on the same airline.  It will just be to a different gate but who knows how far away that will be?  I doubt I will be able to signal a cart to drive me down to it.  Maybe if I wave a couple dollars at the driver???

I just realized that I need to take another pair of shoes with me, too.  Sheesh.  The list just goes on and on.  More room taken up.  I'll be carrying a shopping bag if it gets any bigger, instead of a purse...LOL.  I have to check with the people that check me in to find out what the policy is about bringing back food.  The Princess tells me that, when she flew to NC, they made her throw away what she had for herself to eat on the plane plus her water even.  If so, that's something new.  I want to bring back some White Castle hamburgers for us like I usually do all the time.  But I haven't flown for three years so things may have changed more than I realized.  That would be a big disappointment.

Well, it's time for my shower and to get ready for bed.  I was on the busy side today and the constant up and down (folding clothes for the Beast and then mine, searching through the closets trying to decide on clothes, etc.) has made me tired.

Love you all.  Tell those you love them that you do.  Tomorrow is not promised and you never know what it may bring.  Drive carefully.  ***Hugs***
