I got home yesterday around 10:30am (I got put on an earlier plane due to being at the airport early) and was back at home around 12:30pm since we stopped to grab a bit of breakfast. I was exhausted since I had only slept for 3-1/2hrs before I had to get up so that I would be at the airport in time to turn in my rental car, check in my suitcase and then get through security. I preferred to err on the side of caution, which is why I got a seat on an earlier plane home. As it was, in my haste to be sure to be on time (or early), I left my cane in the back seat of my rental car. Not really a problem since it wasn't an expensive one and the rubber handle was starting to come apart. I ended up getting assistance anyway so I really didn't need it.
When I got into Chi-town, I got my rental car (not without problems but those were overcome). I then did a couple things I wanted to do....have a White Castle hamburger or two, get my nails done and then get my hair trimmed. I had some time to kill until Kay would be home so I took my time getting familiar with the area again. I didn't rush to get anywhere. It seemed strange to me that I once knew that whole area like the back of my hand and now needed a GPS to find my way around.
I got to Kay's house around 5pm and no cars were in the driveway yet so I settled into the back yard (which is not where James expected me to be so I was out there for an hour before he found me when prompted by his mother to look). But the weather was nice and the setting was peaceful so I didn't mind it at all. We ordered pizza for our dinner (how I missed our good pizzas there) and then, we all got ready for an early night. Pete leaves at 2am or so for his job at UPS, Kay leaves around 5am to get into the city for her job and James leaves around 8am for his job. I talked to a couple of the girls to let them know I was in and would be there the next day to join them. Then I called the Beast to check on Baron. He was not doing well. He had pulled out a couple of his drains and was bleeding all over the place so he was going to take him in to the vets to see if he could get him some pain pills because Baron was afraid to go down the stairs to pee even. He ended up having to help him down the stairs and Baron kept chewing off the bandages that the Beast tried to put over the wound from the surgery.
He finally came up with the bright idea of using one (actually a few) of his old t-shirts on Baron, pulling up the excess and pinning it in place to act as a blood catcher. It worked and Baron seemed to love it and acted quite proud of having one on him. When the Beast took him in to the vet's, however, he found out that the vet had lied to him about why he didn't remove all the tumors.
It seems that Baron almost died from a bad reaction to the anesthesia. He went into convulsions and his heart even stopped at one point. He had to be given a shot to bring him out of it quickly and that was the real reason he was so sluggish for so long when he came home the next day. The vet didn't dare give him any pain pills but did give him some antibiotics to prevent infection from the open wound. It was too swollen to put any stitches or even staples in but he said the wound would reclose itself as the swelling went down. It seems to have done so. The Beast takes him back to the vet tomorrow to get the staples taken out and the last drain. He's not bleeding at all and is more like himself that I can tell. He even went for a *trot* this morning. You can't call it a run but it works.
I am going to get this posted now and will post more later after I warm up some. Figures that I would come home to a cold enough night to use my electric blanket! LOL....love you and missed you while I was gone. **Hugs***
Oh good! I was ready to go on FB and ask about Baron. xoxox
