Frustrating At First....

After failing to get my sister Cee's Garmin to get updated last night, I tried again today.  Same kind of frustrations with it only going so far before being stopped before it would finish downloading the all important map section.  Grrr!  But...finally, it started and kept going until it finished.  Then it was just a matter of checking it out and it was fine!  *Phew!*

I wanted to do my washing today but the Beast got there ahead of me then ended up moping the floor in the kitchen and utility area.  I figured I would do MY wash tomorrow but braced myself for the usual folding of his underwear.  Nope!  This time he washed his dress pants and his go-to-church shirts that he had worn for the past couple of weeks.  He takes care of those.  He has a couple shirts that need touch up ironing and I don't do ironing....not for years!  I DO use the iron when I sew clothes (new ones) but nothing else.  So sue me!  Once there was actually real wash-and-wear, that was it for me....LOL.  Besides, he learned to iron as a kid because his mother didn't iron on any regular basis.  She was a working mom and always seemed tired.

Speaking of that, she tried vitamin therapy to cure her chronic tiredness and ended up in the hospital in a kind of toxic shock and almost killed herself.  So be careful when taking vitamin supplements.  There IS such a thing as too much!

My bff, Carol, sent me some pocket money for my trip (bless her!).  I know the Beast won't be very generous because of the cost of my tickets and what the rental car is going to cost us.  I wish the car companies were having some deals going right now but neither I nor my travel agent could locate a good price.  Figures, right?  You would think that the Fall wouldn't be a great time for rental companies since that's not necessarily a big tourist time.

I guess I can start packing since it's only five days until I leave.  I feel more like it's four days because I have to be at the airport at like 4am due to the darn travel problems and Homeland Security requirements.  Like a 69 year old is going to be a terrorist????  What are they thinking??  Where has common sense gone and just why can't they *profile* any more?  That's the most ridiculous part of *politically correct* thinking that I know of.

I was watching the weather forecasts for Chicago and it looks like I can forget taking along my bathing suit.  I had some hope since everyone kept saying that summer was *hanging on* there.  Oh well.  I'm glad that I bought at least one good heavy sweater to take with me.  I am bringing along two pair of jeans, one pair of leggings, and two pair of jeans....one of which I will be wearing.  I am also bringing my coat with me.  I'm still a wuss about cold weather.  Having lived in Florida for so many years, anything below 70 is winter weather...LOL!

I'm even seriously considering bringing my boots along with me and not just my sneakers.  I packed my newest refills of my prescriptions in a separate clear case so that my name is clearly able to be seen.  I am not even taking my vitamins with me since they might deem the amount in it excessive.  I'll buy some shampoo and conditioner when I get there.  I could just buy the small travel size ones here but, since I only want to take a carry on bag (all the airlines are charging now for check-ins and the least charges $25), all space saved is the best.

The amount of meds I take on a daily basis is more than some so....  On a more positive note...the Princess and Johnnycakes have apparently finished the rec room because Johnnycakes was telling his buddies that he needed help moving in the pool table now.  That means he finished the floor and the trim was all done.  The Princess got their bedroom painted today and I don't know what else but she's moving along well on the painting.

Cee says she is going to drop by either tomorrow or Sunday to pick up her Garmin.  That will be a nice break from the Beast's company.  The Beast can be a real drag with all the stuff he keeps trying to keep me informed about that he hears on the news.  I watch the local news for the most part while that seems to be all he watches on either CNN or Fox or various sports depending on the season.  It's been a while since I had any interest in sports.  I used to follow the Dolphins for years but it's just not as interesting to me nowadays.

Time to post this and get my butt to bed.  Love you all.  Be good.  Smile a lot.  Think positive thoughts.  ***Hugs***
