A Major Toothache Hits The Beast.....

First of all...my editor for this blog now appears for me on Firefox.  Hurrah!  So I can reach it with ease now instead of having to go through Google.

The Beast woke up with a major toothache on a tooth that gave him trouble quite a while back.  The dentists here in our town kept looking at it and couldn't figure out what to do with it other than give the Beast some antibiotics.  They didn't even tell him to come back to fix the problem.  So today I contacted 1-800-dentist and we are waiting for their call with a dentist for the Beast down in Gadsden.  He might not be any better but the Beast wants to try it.  It's his tooth.

He was trying to use mouthwash as a pain deadener but that didn't work.  So he went to the pharmacist and asked him what he could use until he saw the dentist.  He told the Beast to take two tylenol and one regular aspirin three times a day but not to do it for more than two or three days.  The Beast picked up some Numzit to rub on his gum over the tooth.  Guess what?  It took away 90% of the pain, which is good and bad both.  It makes us suspect he has a major infection in his gum under the tooth.

I'm making more matzoh ball soup for him just because it's both filling and he feels it will be easier on that tooth, too.  I don't care.  It's an easy meal for me to make.  I love it so I really don't care if I make it twice in a row.

Tomorrow he wants me to make up the last package of Italian beef from our Taste of Chicago order a couple months ago.  I told him it might not be a good idea with his tooth but he insists he HAS to eat.  Whatever.  I'll enjoy it at least....LOL

No Chewlee today because her mother had off work so she was able to pick Chewlee up from gymnastics.  The Princess and Johnnycakes are enclosing the carport to make another room for some reason.  They came over to borrow a few of the Beast's tools including his nail gun.  While they were here, they joked about making a room for the Beast and *I* would get Chewlee.  I said, *I'll take that trade!*  I wish you could have seen the look on the Beast's face.  He was sure I wouldn't want it....LOL!

I halfway expect the Princess to show up since she knows I made the soup again and she likes it.  I made a bigger portion just because Chewlee likes it and she WILL be here tomorrow.  She eats a lot of it when I make the balls smaller and I varied the sizes but not by much.  I don't make the big matzoh balls like the restaurants do.

Love you all.  I hope  you had a nice day like we did, I just wish you more sun.  Baron has had a case of the farts all day so we are walking around breathing through our mouths since the smell is atrocious and it hangs in the air forever.  Be good and have fun.  *winky*

The Beast Still Not Feeling Well But....

The Beast is still complaining about not feeling well and yet, because it was overcast most of the morning, he got out and mowed our front lawn and Dennis's lots.  He used Dennis's tractor/mower because Dennis put a shade attachment on it.

When he came in, he was whipped.  He was also pale as a ghost for a while.  That told me that he was pushing himself just so he got something positive done.  He's always been that way but especially since he recovered (sort of) from his strokes.  I keep checking the bottom of his soles because he drags the one foot so badly that we have to replace his sneakers often.

He decided to start taking his Nyquil again since it helps him sleep.  He started losing his voice again so I made him some matzoh ball soup.  It seems to help and he likes it better than the chicken noodle soup from the can.

Chewlee got dropped off around 11am and she headed right out to go play with some of the new kids.  She didn't say hi or goodbye to me.  She just asked the Beast if it was okay and he said yes.  I told him that was one thing that we had that the *OTHER* papa doesn't.  Kids for her to play with.  He lives in a neighborhood that doesn't have kids.  The Princess told the Beast not to sweat it because he would be gone soon.  He's going back to Afghanistan as a contractor there again.  He likes the money.  And the fact that he doesn't have to pay taxes on it either...LOL!

Chewlee played until right around the time that Peppa Pig came on and, after both episodes were over, she played outside again for an hour.  The Princess ended up getting off work early so Chewlee was in the house and just about ready to go when her mother got here.  Then the Princess discovered the matzoh ball soup.  She and Chewlee both had some before they went home.  I know that Chewlee must be upset tonight, though, because she left her blankey here.  I suppose the Princess will come by for it tomorrow since she doesn't work and I'm sure she will not want to go through another night that Chewlee doesn't have it.

The Beast may have to go over to Tara's house tomorrow to fix a broken hose pipe or whatever it's called.  It's late and my mind has shut down for the night.  She called and said it was dripping into the house.  The Beast told her a couple places to look for the turnoff for them and, since she didn't call back, I think she found the right shut-off.  But the hose connection will need fixing and Tara can't do that.  I hope that it wasn't broken off badly because she doesn't have a crawl space.   It's built right into the framework of the house.

It was a really nice day but will be chilly again tonight.  Good sleeping weather but it's supposed to be hot tomorrow.  However, I'm beyond believing the weatherman about that.  What will be, will be.

I haven't heard from Mustachio how his *date* went yet but he'll eventually tell me.  That's one of the nice things about being both his mother and his friend.  We talk about pretty much everything.

Love you all.  Have a fantastic week.  We all deserve at least that much.  **Wink**

It's A Problem.....

I use Firefox as my browser and therein lies the problem, it seems.  I may have to reload it in order for my blog site to download the publish page.  Right now, I have to Google my site via IE so that I can publish a new blog.

I don't really want to go and get rid of Firefox before I re-download it because I have just started getting my bookmarks back in the new folders.  I wonder if I can just drag and drop my folders in my bookmark section?  That would be so much easier than emailing them all to myself.  But I will do whatever needs doing to get this working right.

I like Firefox much better than IE.  You would have to try it out for yourself to see what I mean.  I keep both on my computer and I probably should download Chrome, too.  Just to be safe since many applications that originate with Google work better on Chrome.

The Beast really is feeling ill.  Nothing that you can point a finger at but he has no energy and can't seem to get going to get anything done.  He needs to mow the lawns, for instance.   That isn't getting done.  I watched him *run* Baron around the circle yesterday.  *I* could have run faster than the Beast was driving the scooter.  I asked him, *What the hell is the reason for going so slow?  That sure doesn't give Baron much exercise.*  His answer?  Oh, Baron wanted to play more than run!

Of course he did.  If he's not being challenged, he'll just putz around and go this way or that on the various lawns.  Sheesh!

The Beast went to Walgreen's and to Walmart to pick up a few things that he hopes helps us both get going.  I admit that I am not doing all that great, either.  But he got himself some cod liver oil capsules, some of the geriatric liquid (you know what I mean...it tastes awful!) and a shit load of fruits that he means to make smoothies out of.  I checked and none of them except the oranges are ready to eat.  The peaches, pears and even the bananas are not ready to be used in that!  But you can't tell him anything.  He will do what he wants.  I just don't have  to drink it because he bought me some special liquid drink for diabetics.  I've had it before and it's not bad.

Mustachio is venturing into the dating world tomorrow.  Yeah, the gal that cleans his apartment and does his laundry is going out with him to the gambling boat.  She's been there before with a former boyfriend.  Mustachio has never been there.  He's nervous, of course, partly because of the age difference.  I told him, *Once you are past 25, age difference means nothing.*  I pointed out that his aunt, Cee, and her hubby are around  18 years or more apart.  They have been together now for around 25 years, maybe more.  I really haven't kept track of it.

But it made him relax a bit.  I told him to just go and have some fun.  He deserves it.  He's worked hard.  He plans on giving her $100 to gamble with and he hopes she wins some games and makes some money.  That's always fun.  He'll tell me all about it in a day or two.  We laughed over that because it's true!  I'm not just his mother, I'm also a friend.  We pretty much talk about everything.

I need to get to bed now.  It's late and I'm beat.  Love you all.  Have a great Sunday.  **Wink**

It Was Cold Last Night!

I was not quite prepared for just HOW cold it got last  night.  I woke up and had to pull the quilt up over me and then nestle under it like a little puppy.  Later, when I got up to use the bathroom, I grabbed my robe and threw it on and then settled under the covers.

I had a tummy ache for some reason and that didn't help me settle down.  I woke up around 9:30am and the Beast was up already.  Of course he was.  He'd gone to bed shortly after 9pm...LOL.  If he gets up at 8am, then he figures he's up nice and early and doesn't think about the fact that he slept for 11 hours!  Must be a man thing.

I apologize for this late blog.  I have no idea what happened yesterday but my blogger site wouldn't download the editor for a new blog.  Even today, I had to go to google and kind of use the back door to get to it.  I may have to use Chrome since it's a Google site, I discovered.  And Chrome is a Google application (like IE is a Windows application).  Whatever allows me to post until I find out what the damn Beast did to my computer to make it go crazy.

I kid you not.  He cannot put his mitts on my computer without causing a major fit of some sort.  I know he must have entered my computer room yesterday while I was napping because it was fine before I took my nap but, two hours later?  It went nuts.  My bookmarks were all gone but the Beast's were there (and I had deleted them off over a month before).  That meant is was something new AND from his current computer.  I actually think he swapped hard drives on me.....again.

My Pogo homepage is now HIS homepage (another indicator that he has probably swapped hard drives on me).  There are just too many things that have disappeared on me....like all my pictures, including the ones that he emailed me just a couple days ago!

He is denying it, of course.  But I think my hard drive was larger than any of the others he had around here so he slipped it in and hoped I wouldn't notice.  DUH!!!  All my stuff disappears and I won't notice????  Jerk!  I found the hard drive currently on this computer is set up differently than the one I had originally.  I think the Beast was in a hurry when he swapped drives and wanted to get out of my computer room before I woke up so he hurried and didn't notice that he duplicated a couple things.

Anyway, I love you all and I've found another way to get to my editor if/when I need to.  Be good.  Have a great weekend.  See you later!  **Wink**

Bright And Early? What Was I Thinking?

I have no idea what got into me but I woke up bright and early, around 6am.  I got up and found the Beast was up and had plans to go out preaching with a few members of his church.  I was going to go back to sleep but thought he would probably feel better with a good breakfast.  So I made us bacon, eggs and homemade hash browns.  I made HIM make the toast.  It was delish and just what I needed myself.

I actually got ambitious and unpacked a few more things, folded another load of things (dish rags, dish towels, bath towels and wash cloths) and even fed Baron after the Beast left.  I knew he would only be gone a couple hours but, once that was done, I tried to take a little nap (even tho' it was still early morning).

Wouldn't you know that Baron would take the appearance of workers across the way (they are putting siding up on Dennis's barn) as a reason to bark, loudly. BTW, Dennis had his surgery today but we didn't hear anything about it.  Di isn't really the type to call so I imagine we will have to wait until Dennis is well enough to talk.  Having a kidney removed is not a minor thing.

So I am trying to nap and Baron is barking at everything the guys are doing.  Then one of the guys comes to the door because they need a piece of equipment they stored in the barn.  That meant I had to get up to answer the door and I was glad that I had gotten dressed.  I had no idea where the key was so I called the Beast with the hope he had his phone with him.  He did and he told me where to find it.  The worker took it and returned it right away.  After the workers left, the Beast checked to make sure they had relocked the door and they had.

So I get the key and put it back where the Beast kept it.  I am still tired but I had made a promise to make some apple crisp today.  I had to check to make sure I had all the ingredients for the *crisp*.  I did so I thought I would give a nap another try.  I laid down and was half asleep when I hear the floor creaking in the living room.  I hadn't heard a door open so I jerked awake and crept over to the door and peeked out.  It was the Beast!  Jerk!

I told him he should make some noise coming into the house when I am here alone.  He just laughed and said he thought I might be asleep when he saw the dish rags and things had been folded.  I knew that sleep was out of the question after that so I got busy.  I made both beds up.  I wanted to change the spread on the guest bed and found out later that we won't have Chewlee this weekend.  Her *other papa* is coming up here so she will spend the weekend with him.  Until probably Sunday around noon and THEN I will get her.  He's trying to spend as much time as possible with her (in person) before he goes back to Afghanistan and then they will only visit on Skype.

The Princess made a variation of Shepherd's Pie and brought some over for us, too.  It has tomatoes, tomato sauce and some chopped jalapeno in it and it was delicious.  I had never had that type before but, hey, I didn't have to cook dinner...LOL.

I made the apple crisp up when the Beast went to church for his Bible Study night.  It didn't take long.  The hardest part is the peeling and slicing up the apple but I wasn't make a big casserole or anything.  I have a small casserole type dish I used so it took me all of about 20 minutes to put everything together.  My big mistake was I didn't really use enough oatmeal in the topping but it still turned out well.  Nice and crisp and the apples were cooked and seasoned just right.  There will be around four or five servings from it (I've had one already...LOL).  That will suit the Beast just fine because I predict he will eat all the rest of it.

So ends my day with me playing games on my computer and talking to Bratfink on an IM.  It's almost midnight here so I need to get this posted.  Love you all and I wish you a fantastic Friday.  Chewlee got a smiley face today...just for your information.  I hope you enjoyed the pictures of her I posted yesterday.  She's really quite a character at times.  She just loved what the Beast had done to her picture.

Drive carefully.  Be happy and I hope you have great weather, too.  That always helps MY attitude.  **wink**

Some Chewlee Pictures

I'm going to give this a try since I am not sure how this will work on my new blog site.  I got the Beast to send me a couple pictures of Chewlee, complete with his new backgrounds that he got from his friend.

Let's give this a try.

There....that went better than I thought it would.   I had another one using a picture of her when she was younger but I think I ruined it.  I'll have to try to recover it and show it to you another time.  It's got a fantasy background and is really cute.  But, at least you get to see my Chewlee.  I wasn't happy that she picked one of my raspberries but the bush is full of them so I forgive her.  They just need a bit more growing (and some need ripening).  She just knew she could eat it once the picture was taken.  She DOES love fruit of all kinds.

I swear there are thousands of backgrounds on the disk the Beast was given.  Some of them are amazing and he can hardly wait to play with them all.  I can't say I blame him.  It takes a lot of concern about placing people for both background and exposure.  Now he can just take a good picture and put them in ANY background he chooses.  Or they do, whatever.

Nothing exciting happened today.  The weather was nice, I slept well last night and took a two hour nap.  We had fried chicken for dinner (always a favorite).  The Beast loves it because I love the wings.  He got a small package of them just for me.  He had thighs.  I'll never understand why he doesn't really care for legs.  We kids used to fight over them with the babies winning the majority of the time.  And there were always babies.  **Sigh**

Well, love you all.  Hope you have had a decent week if not a great one.  Congrats if good, so sorry if bad.  I really DO wish everyone had good weeks.  I just know that it's not always possible.  But....have a great Thursday.  How about that???  Sound good to you?  Okay then.  **Wink**

I Hate When This Happens.....

Today was not a good day for me.  I was up and down all night due to my IBS.....not a bad bout, as some have been, but enough to kill my sleep.  I finally fell asleep, exhausted.  I got up around 9:30am or so.  Just long enough to fill my coffee cup, take a drink or two and then my bed called me back....strongly.  I didn't fight it.  I fell asleep for about four or five more hours then, finally, woke up and stayed up.  But...my feet were seriously in pain because I hadn't taken my morning pills and, believe me, it makes a difference.

I took my pills and sat down at my computer to go through my email and then played a couple games.  I had to stay off my feet until my meds kicked in.  It doesn't take the pain away entirely but I can stand it.  There IS a difference.  I wish there was a pill that worked and took all that pain away.  Now, if I take one of the pain pills the doctor gave me, that almost DOES take the pain away.  The problem is that, according to what I have read about them, they ARE addicting and I don't want that problem.  So, unless there is a real need for me to be able to walk without pain, I avoid taking them.

The Princess arrived before Chewlee got here and I knew that would make her very unhappy.  I don't know what goes on at her house but I think that the Princess isn't letting her watch her favorite show (Peppa Pig) on TV.  I know she wants Chewlee to work on her spelling words but she would probably get her to be happier about doing it if she could watch JUST her Peppa Pig and THEN work on her spelling words.  But that's just MY opinion.  Of course, it works for me when she's here.  She knows that she can watch Peppa Pig (no Lalaloopsy afterward) and then we turn off the TV and work on her spelling words.   But that's just OUR routine.  But she's happier and not resentful.  Makes for a better attitude about doing the work.

The Princess was talking to the Beast so Chewlee got to come into my computer room and watch some of Peppa Pig before they went home.  Chewlee didn't get a smiley face (again).  She just won't follow directions for whatever reason.  I know she can be stubborn about doing some things but, without talking to the teacher, we just have no idea how to correct that.  We can do general things hoping we say the right things to her but we really are in the dark about why she just won't do whatever it is the teacher wants her to do.

She has incentive.  Her mother gives her special treats when she gets a smiley face AND if she ever gets through a whole week with them, I know she probably has something special planned.  But treats don't seem to do it for her.  And neither does Daddy spanking her.  I know they have tried both.  The treats are the latest thing.  Chewlee DOES love treats and she especially loves Italian ices.  I don't even have a clue where the Princess goes for those but she knows where to get them.  My treats for Chewlee are things like pushups, popsicles or just bubble gum.  Maybe I should make pickles a treat for smiley faces.  Mmmmm....that's not a bad idea.

Other than that, my day consisted of folding a couple baskets of clothes and that was it.  Maybe it doesn't seem like much but there IS only two of us.  I have clothes here for Chewlee, too, since I make sure she takes a bath on those nights that the Princess works late.  My biggest problem is that I don't have enough pajamas here.  So I often have to have Chewlee put on regular school clothes to go home in.  I probably should buy Chewlee some pajamas but I wouldn't get them back, I'm afraid.  And I sure couldn't keep buying her pajamas.  I'm NOT rich, by any means.  I should probably look through the cloth I have here and see if I have some that would work for pajamas.

Our weather has been cool which makes for great sleeping weather.  I think I might actually sleep through the night tonight and get to enjoy the comfort.  My IBS episode seems to be over.  I sure wish I could go six months without an attack.  The doctor said if I did, it would probably be over.  I just wish.......

Love you all.  Hope you are having a good week and enjoy a great Hump Day.  **wink**

I Get Busy...Again

Chewlee was cute today.  She has days like that.  She was very laid back and happy.  She got ready for church and stole a few minutes to ride around on her bike when the Beast sat outside and let Baron out for a bit.  When they were leaving, she ran back in because she said she left HER bible behind.  She DOES have her own but she can't read most of it, especially the parts that have many archaic words.  But it makes her feel big to have her own to carry with her.

She went home with one of the parishioners to play for a while with one of their kids.  They have the cutest little girl that is right around Chewlee's age or maybe a bit older.  She's been here to the house a time or two and I think she's cute as hell.  Her dad is black and her mother is white and she is the milky skinned result you often see.  Adorable and very pretty.  She and Chewlee get along great.  She stayed for about two hours and then the Beast went to get her.  He didn't want her to overstay her welcome since the family has relatives visiting.

When she got home, I had to fight with her to get her out of her *Sunday go-to-meeting* dress because the Beast wanted to take her picture and she assumed he wanted her in her good dress.  I checked and then fought with her over the play clothes she was going to wear.  Lord, this kid is so opinionated at times that she drives me nuts.  It's really that she has her own idea of what items should go together but she is often wrong because she will match things based on if they have the same colors (but not the same patterns....LOL).

The pictures the Beast took are cute.  I liked one in particular.  He is experimenting with some new backgrounds he was given that are just incredible and there are over 1,000 different ones!  I was stunned!  The family that took Chewlee home from church with them is the one that gave the Beast all the different backgrounds.  They are all different, all high resolution and just stunning.  The reason for the picture of Chewlee was to try using a couple different ones with her as the central character.  He did a nice job.  I'm going to try to get him to put one or two on a thumb drive for me so I can post them for you to see what I mean.

Once Chewlee came in for the night (she was playing on this sand and rock pile over at Dennis's house that hasn't been cleared off  yet), she settled down with the last pickle and was drinking the pickle juice.  She got the bright idea of putting it into this candy sprayer that she had and was spraying it in her mouth like it was a throat spray.  Too funny.  We filled it up about four times and her mother had a fit when she saw it.  She said Chewlee would be spraying it all over the house and that was the most ridiculous thing I heard come out of her mouth.  Chewlee loves pickle juice and wouldn't be wasting it that way.  But I told her to leave it and it would be here for her tomorrow, along with the rest of the pickle juice.  Chewlee gave me a hug and didn't carry on at all because she knew I meant it.

MY day encompassed making spaghetti sauce but I made penne pasta instead of spaghetti noodles.  It was wonderful.  It was also ready for the Beast (and Chewlee, I thought) when he/they got home from church.  Chewlee had some later on when she got home.  After that, she made serious inroads into the pickle spears the Beast bought the other day.  There weren't that many in the jar.  I told him to buy the kind I had.  They lasted longer.  She's just as happy with two small pickles as she is with two spears.

I also swept the floor since mud had been tracked in by everyone but me.  I didn't go out where I could pick up any mud.  It looked awful.  I finally pulled out the vacuum cleaner and used the flooring setting to get up as much as possible.  The Beast said he will mop the floor (actually, he uses one of those new floor cleaners that spray and wipe) tomorrow.  I shrugged and will let him.  Saves me the trouble...LOL.

Our weather, like many areas, has had some nice, cooler weather but tomorrow it's back to temperatures in the 80's.  Not that *I* mind because 80's isn't as bad as the 90's for the Beast's comfort.  Even the 80's bothers him but not as much.  And I don't worry as much for him when he has to be out in it.  Dennis's lawn needs mowing and it means he will be out in the sun while doing that.  He's got to get it done before the rains hit us again which will be in about 3 days.

Got to go.  Love you all.  You can subscribe to me, ya know, if you like reading about my boring life.  Of course, I might make your life seem more interesting...LOL.  Be good.  Have a great week and drive carefully.  The life you save may be your own.  **wink**

BACKYARD GARDENS ILLEGAL?

I couldn't believe what I heard yesterday.  I mean it.  In the state of Georgia, it has become illegal to have a backyard garden.  They passed the law to comply with a federal law that was initiated by Obama and had this effect, whether he meant it or not.  He put a law into effect that allows the federal government to tell a farmer what he can and cannot plant.  It has been seen by our nit picky legislators to also mean that anyone with a garden is technically a *farmer* of sorts and is not allowed to grow anything without the approval of the Federal government.  Can you believe that crap?  And they say Georgia is just the first of many states that is going to start prosecuting anyone with a backyard garden.

I believe that may be because so many people have an excess that they sell and it affects the sale of produce at the grocery stores.  It's just my guess but anything that affects the sale of federally-allowed produce (and even meat products) is just not in the best interest of any state or the plan of the government to control food prices and sales.  But a backyard garden?  And I will bet you that they start using Google maps to check and make sure no such things are going on in anyone's backyard.  That's how they've caught pools that were installed without permits and other such items that have been done to improve a home and property.  Google aerial maps.  I kid you not.  So beware.  You may end up with a fine or even in jail just for having a garden to help supplement your household food supply.

Love you all.

A REALLY BUSY DAY

I had to face it!  I had to shelve all my DVD's and that meant separating them and putting the series ones together again.  It took me almost two hours but I finally got it done.  Then came all my CD's....a different task altogether.  A lot of them now reside in a special holder in the Prius to enjoy while we travel.  If only we were doing any lately!

I then worked on the rest of the things that had been displaced.  Everything except the blankets and comforters, I mean.  I really would like to find out if Tara wants any and I may even send home this one for Chewlee that will work on her single size bed.  None of them will work for the Princess since she has a King size bed.

But my room is pretty much put together again now.  There's just one more container to go through and some of that belongs to the Beast.  I have just a few things in that one.  It will take me a whole five minutes for that...LOL

I have to tell you, the new rug makes this room look so much bigger, it's amazing.  Of course, it's actually fairly light in color and that always makes a room seem bigger.   I just know I like it.

The Beast got dressed for church tonight and he actually looked really good.  He had on black slacks, a silky looking black shirt, a blue, silver and black diagonal striped tie and a silvery jacket.  Very sharp.  I had to compliment him on his choices.  He preened like a rooster.  **LMAO**

It seems I have a summer cold.  My nose has been running so it's sore from me having to constantly blow it.  I was almost afraid to wash my face and include my poor nose but it's tough to shower and not get your nose wet.  It actually seemed like my nose liked it because it's not so sore now (and I'm still blowing my nose!).  At least I am not doing a lot of coughing.  Just a bit.

The Princess got here fast after Chewlee got off the bus.  She barely got to watch 15 minutes of her Peppa Pig on TV and get her two little pickles eaten.  She didn't even get a glass of milk.  My poor baby.  But her mother works from 11 until 7 tomorrow so she won't be picked up until around 8:30pm.  Depending on the day she has, she might even be asleep when that happens.

Of course, she's still being punished I think so that limits what she can do and where she can go.  She will definitely be taking the ride around the circle with the Beast and Baron.  That's a given.  She just loves taking that ride with the Beast.  And Baron demands it in his own way.  Too funny for words.

The Beast is procrastinating about taking Baron back to the vets.  He's totally convinced that the tumors are fatty ones so he's ignoring them.  Of course, since the vet never called after the biopsies, that probably feeds that in him.  However, he's ignoring the fact that the one is so big, it bothers Baron.  It really ticks me off.  That's his best friend and yet he could treat him that way!  Jerk!

Our weather was nice today.  Not too hot and no rain but it says we are going to get hit with some tomorrow evening and Saturday.  BTW....news on the Beast's buddy, Dennis.  He's due for surgery on the 26th.  I will keep you posted on his recovery process as WE know.

Love you all.  Be healthy and happy.  Life is short and you just never know what will happen.  **wink**

THE CARPET IS INSTALLED

We got up early today to finish emptying the room.  Since I had removed a lot of things during the night before I went to bed, that took us all of 15 minutes.  I joked with the Beast and said we should go back to bed for an hour since it was only 7:15am.  But we stayed up, had our coffee, watched the news, took the dog out front and sat on the steps for about 15 minutes and then went back into the house to wait for the installers.  They were a bit late and didn't get here until almost 9am.  Figures!

The installation went smoothly.  Why shouldn't it when we had done all the hard work...LOL  I went up to Staples and bought one of those shields so that my chair rollers wouldn't make serious marks in the new rug.  I also picked up this cute little 8 drawer stand (rolled steel frame and on wheels).  The drawers aren't deep but I wasn't concerned about that.  I wanted it to put things in like staples, tapes, scissors, paper clips, etc. into it so that I was a bit more organized.  Chewlee wanted to look through the drawers but I told her she could do that with me on Thursday when she is here later in the day since her mother works.  That way she will know where I put the tape, the scissors and a few other things that I usually let her get when she needs them.

We started moving things back in place and that is going to be a job and a half.  There's so much, it's amazing.  You never know how much you accumulate and store in small spaces.  By that, I mean you find six inches of space on a shelf and....surprise!  You suddenly have a space for that nail polish you use occasionally...or a bottle of lotion...or whatever.  It's so easy to use that instead of getting up and putting it where it belongs.

I did put all our medical supplies in a large container that I will put on a shelf in the bookcase.  Probably on a lower or bottom shelf.  I use it more than anyone because everyone comes to me to find a bandage...or the triple antibiotic.. or some gauze...whatever they need.  Like I carry it in my pocket.  LOL  So I figured put all the stuff together, including some of the leftover stuff from my surgery and the foot wounds.  You never know!

After the Beast got the computer and my TV hooked back up, I was soooooo tempted to just forget about doing anything but....I filled the drawers in the new stand, folded a load of clothes and got that put away and hauled my DVD's, CD's and games in here.  THAT is going to take me a while to re-organize since Chewlee can reach it all.  She also knows where most of the movies she likes are kept (and the ones *I* like) but she doesn't seem to remember where to put them back.  Oh, except for the Harry Potter tapes.  THOSE she knows exactly where they go and she puts those away just fine.

The Beast went to bed early and said to me as he left, *Tomorrow is another day*.  Well, DUH!  Like I hadn't already gotten on the computer and started to play games.  Too funny!

It was amazingly cool today.  I think our high was only about 74 degrees or so.  It looked like it was going to rain but that hasn't happened...yet!  It still could since the sky is overcast.  I won't know until it either clears up or rains.  I just have to wait and see even though rain was predicted.  In fact, thunderstorms were supposed to happen....NOT !

Love you all.  Going to have to address the DVD thing in the morning so THAT much gets done.  I have to call Tara and find out if she wants to stop by and go through these blankets, spreads and other stuff I have.  I should get up in the attic and pull down the container with all the sheets I have stored up there.  I need to get rid of those.  **Sigh**  Tomorrow is another day to worry about all this.  See you then.  **wink**

WE GET READY FOR THE BIG DAY!!

It's just the day the new carpeting gets put in.  The crew is supposed to be here at 8:30am and this room is not quite ready.  Although I emptied my desk pretty much, the desk itself needs to be moved and we haven't moved the recliner out of here just yet.  There's just not room in the living room for us to be trying to move around all this stuff for any length of time.  It looks like there are a couple hoarders living here.  I kid you not!!!  LOL

The Beast DID grab the TV out of here earlier and unhooked it from the satellite wiring.  It ticked me off because I did have a couple shows I wanted to watch but he doesn't care about MY comforts.

He went to bed and I moved out some of the blankets that are in plastic bags and the drawers from my desk here and a few other things to make it THAT much easier.  I know the Beast and he will vacuum this rug before those guys get here.  Who does he think he's fooling?  LOL

Anyway, the Beast suddenly bursts in here and says to me, **That dog HAS to go outside!**  It wasn't two seconds and I could tell you why he was up and why he said it.  The SMELL was just awful.  At first, I thought our septic tank had backed up but it was the dog, farting.  I mean the stench traveled from the bedroom, clinging to the Beast and then rolled into my computer room.  OMG!   I said to the Beast, * Do you plan on leaving him out there all night or what???*  But he just wanted Baron to defecate so that the farting would (hopefully) stop.

Chewlee got a smiley face (so far, so good) today.  When I wanted her to sit down and then copy the words for her spelling test at the end of the week, she had a request.  Normally, I write each of the words and leave lines enough for her to copy the words five times.  Then I have her spell each of them for me.  If she can't spell them correctly, I make her write the words she can't spell 10 times.  Her mother does the same thing.  But Chewlee said to me today, *Can I just write the words by myself?*  I told her she had to write each word five times and she told me, *I know that, Grandma*.  So, I let her.  The teacher had given them a pretest of sorts so that was how I had the list of words.  The Princess had emailed me a picture of the word list and vocabulary words but I had the list here already.  I remembered most of the words from yesterday (which actually is amazing).  My memory for many things just sucks.

After Chewlee took her bath and was nice and relaxed, we worked on her vocabulary.  I had her spell the word and then make up a sentence using it.  She actually did quite well and only had a problem with the word *here*.  She kept thinking it was *hear* and then she wanted to do rhyming words but I told her we could do those another day.  She will be going home *very early* as Chewlee says since her mother doesn't work tomorrow or the next day.  Chewlee barely has time to run in and get a pickle before her mother is here to get her.  Makes Chewlee very unhappy because she (like we all do) likes her routine but she also loves spending time with her mother.  Poor kid is going to need counseling when she gets older....LOL

We are supposed to have rain tomorrow afternoon...just wonderful with a new rug, right?  Somehow that figures.  But, since Chewlee won't be underfoot, I can work on getting my computer room back in shape.  I would kill for some Mudslide right now but I am so broke, the tooth fairy's contribution would feel like a treasure.

Love you all.  Stay dry and cool.  Enjoy your *hump day* and see you tomorrow.

A GOOD DAY AND A BAD ONE FOR CHEWLEE

I felt bad for Chewlee today.  She got a smiley face so she had a good day, as she told me.  But then, she screwed up once she got to go out to play.  She left her bike over at one friend's house, managed to lose her flip-flops AGAIN and her mother found her running up and down the other side of the circle (without the bike).  She gets NO privileges for the rest of the week now.  She was really upset.

I can't blame her mother for that part.  Chewlee is very careless about her shoes for some reason.  But I got upset with her and the Beast for calling Chewlee *evil*.  I said, *She's not evil, she's just a kid!*  They just throw that word *evil* around like it's nothing.  But to me, evil is a kid that kills things like cats and dogs.  Or sets fires to burn things down.  THAT's evil!  Not losing her shoes or running up and down the street.  Just because Chewlee wasn't where she was supposed to be doesn't make her evil.  It just makes her a KID that should be punished because she isn't supposed to go anywhere we don't know about.

But she feels safe here where she pretty much knows everyone.  In fact, I would bet that she DOES know everyone around here now.  She sees no threat and feels no threat.  But we know that people can seem okay and not be so it worries us when we don't know where she is.  THAT is what she doesn't understand and where we conflict with her.

I would have punished her for a few days, except for the fact that she lost her shoes...again.  THAT would have really pissed me off because I think she still hasn't gone over to the friend's house where she left a different pair of flip-flops and asked for them.  But that's a different problem.

I think the Princess was more pissed off because she was embarrassed when she went to the friend's house where Chewlee had left her bike parked and found out she had been there and left quickly for some reason (leaving her bike there).  I mean, shouldn't a mother know where her kid is?  But WE were the ones that trusted her to go where she was supposed to go and STAY there.  I think the Princess has inherited the Beast's over-reaction to things.  Maybe I'm wrong but I get a little mad but I talk reasonably and then administer the punishment.  My aim isn't to make a kid cry but to make them see OUR point in trusting her and how she has made us NOT trust her now.  Am I wrong?  Maybe I AM a bad parent-figure like the Beast has always said.  But I had a mother that over-reacted to everything and would beat the crap out of us.  I NEVER wanted to be that way to my kids.  It's an awful way to live.

The weather here was strange today.  It was really cool out this morning and it's really cool outside again tonight but it was hot inbetween.  LOL!  The Beast washed his Prius (lord, he loves that car!) and told me he has to build shelves in the cottage for some of the stuff he's dragged into it.  In order to do that, he has to finish putting up the paneling.  Not that it's a big deal.  He has a nail gun so it's whiz-bang to get them up.  He only will have to cut a few pieces at corners.  THOSE I will have to help him with.  Knowing his amount of energy, however, he might only put up the pieces that don't need cutting for now.

Well, love you all.  Have a great week.  Tomorrow we have to clear out my room here with the last of the stuff (my desk, the TV, the recliner and a few spreads and blankets) because the rug guys are going to be here at 8:30am on Wednesday.  The Beast also has to take the baseboard heater off the wall so it makes it easy for them to lay the rug and pad.  Be good.  See you here again, I hope.

 Welcome, Friends and Foes!

Okay...did a kind of *end-around* to let everyone know to look for the new site.  I should probably go back and do a real link to my new site.  We'll see.

Chewlee spent the night and I got her to bed around 9pm.  I went to bed with her, thinking she would fall asleep quickly and I would get up and get a few things done.  Let me tell you...I'm glad I did yesterday's post early because I fell sound asleep and didn't even wake up to pee until 4am.  I was stunned.  So I went back to bed and didn't wake up until the Beast woke us both up (meaning me and Chewlee) so Chewlee could get dressed for church.  No, I'm not an unbeliever.  I believe whole-heartedly in God but I do NOT believe in the teachings of the church the Beast attends.

Since I will not throw stones at ANY religion where the people are trying to be good people (but, perhaps, are a bit quirky), I will NOT name it.  I really don't believe in any organized religion, I suppose.  They all end up just looking to collect $$$ and that's what their preaching mostly ends up leaning towards as their main message.  Either that or that anyone who doesn't believe as they do should be avoided like a plague because they will contaminate your thinking!  I don't think God really cares how you are dressed or even where you preach.  I also think that family is probably the most important thing on this earth and you shouldn't live ANY religion that looks to break up families and to isolate you to just those who attend your church or ones like it.  Look at Jesus.  He preached on city streets, on hillsides, on beaches and lakeshores.  Did he ever attempt to break up families?  Somehow, I doubt it.  He even preached in the desert (and to the devil, no less).  If HE didn't care where he preached, why worry so much about $$$ just so you can have a spectacular building.  The building is NOT important.

I can understand fund-raising for a leaking roof or if repairs need doing or even if the preacher's car needs repairs but.....not to live in splendor.  Christ didn't.  Are preachers more worthy than Christ Jesus was?  I don't think so.

I didn't mean this to get preachy and that's all I am going to say on that subject.

When they got back from church, I  had Chewlee change right away because her mother was picking her up so they could attend *daddy's* family reunion.  I hope they enjoyed it and that there were a few kids for Chewlee to play with.  She really wanted to have someone to play with today.

Tomorrow, after school, Chewlee goes to gymnastics.  So that means either the Beast or I have to go pick her up when that's over.  Now that I know where the school is, want to make a bet who gets that privilege???  LOL!  No, no, the first guess doesn't count!

I made potstickers for dinner.  I really like those things.  Easy to make and the Beast makes the BEST dip for them.  He mixes the soy sauce with the green hot paste in just the perfect blend so you get a kick out of it.  Yum!

Love you all.  Our weather was really on the cool side for most of the day and it's overcast enough that I suspect it will rain tonight or tomorrow.  Heavy cloud cover and it played hell with my internet connection.  I think we need to get a tech out here to get the signal stronger.  I don't think the original tech cared to really tune it in to a great signal.  Just one that was *good enough* for us (and that's a contemptuous *us*) in his mind.  He wasn't a really nice tech.  You could tell he was just trying to be polite without any warmth to it.

Again, love you all.  Have a super-fantastic week!

BRATFARM-SOUTH
Well, here we are again.  A new spot to make home.  This one is much easier to work with but I still have to explore it and find my niche.  In the meantime, I will be talking about all the usual things....the Beast, Chewlee, Bratfink, our garden, frustrations, etc.  I hope you will stick with me until it all feels like *our* place.

Chewlee didn't get an A+ on her spelling test this past Friday.  She seems to have a hard time with the word *they*.  I don't know why because she reads it with no problem but she can't make the transition because of the *A* sound in  *they*.  I'm going to make her write it this weekend because she will be doing another sleepover today (she stayed on Thursday and we DID make the bus but just barely).  It seems Chewlee left her flip-flops at a neighbors house and we didn't realize it until it came time for her to put her shoes on Friday morning.

She ended up wearing her Sunday shoes and she took her time putting on her socks because she MUST wear them with those shoes.  She had barely put on the shoes before I saw the bus.  She panicked because she didn't know where her backpack was but I pointed to it for her.  She had been sitting down with it at her back.  She smacked her forehead when she saw it and made me laugh.  I waved to the bus driver who waited patiently for her.  She wouldn't run in her shoes so she was ambling casually down the driveway while the driver sat there with the door open, waiting.  There are times she makes me want to smack her backside.

When she got home from school, she told me she was tired.  That lasted all of 5 minutes because she saw Sam playing outside.  Off she ran after asking if she could go and play with him.  She played with him until he had to go inside  to eat.  She then went over to another neighbors to play with their kids.  That's where she left her flip-flops on Thursday but do you think she thought to bring them home.  Of course not.  But I am going to make her do that today.

When Chewlee got home at dinner time, I had a surprise for her AFTER she ate.  She had a couple hot dogs along with tortilla chips and salsa.  I then handed her two of the little pickles (gherkins?) and her face lit up with a big smile.  She had no idea we had any dill pickles in the house but I had bought two jars of them last week and I hid the second jar so she WOULDN'T know.  I can be a stinker, too, when I feel like it.

I made stew for dinner and it smells wonderful.  I cooked it in the slow cooker and there's actually enough for several meals.  However, I am going to send some home with the Princess and Tara, too, if she stops by like I hope she does.  I put it on to cook last night and every time I got up to use the bathroom, I added another ingredient.  You know....add the carrots to the beef and onion, then later, add the little potatoes and last of all the peas.  It's just NOT a stew to me without peas.  That's the way Mom made it and it makes a difference in the taste if you don't have them.  I sometimes add some stewed tomatoes to it because that's what HIS mom did and he will ask me to do it.  It's not bad so I don't mind, now and then.

I'm going to close this now and go to Xanga and let everyone know to come here and the name of my blog now.  Believe it or not, my blog name on Xanga wasn't available here.  But we'll get used to the new name.  I called it Bratfarm-South because we live in *The South* (Alabama is truly *The South*).  Hope you get used to it and have no problems.

Love you all.  Dress appropriately for your weather, wherever you are.  Be careful driving.  Have a little fun this weekend and think of me.  I'll be babysitting Chewlee until Sunday evening.
