Nothing Ever Goes Right....

I was exhausted last night but couldn't fall asleep at first.  I thought it was because I had spent so much time sleeping the previous three days but I did fall asleep, finally.  I slept well until early this morning when I suddenly woke up to THAT feeling again.  Yes, you got it!  Another episode of IBS.  Not quite as bad as the previous one but still unexpected since I had felt so good the day before.  After a bit of time, I knew I was not going to be making the trip over to the Princess' house for our dinner.  I called her and told her and had the Beast bring over the food I had made.  I did ask her to send over some food for us later (which she did via Tara).  I had to laugh at Chance, who was so cute and gave me a big hug.  He was in a great mood.  He was in no hurry to get home, either.

I know I had to have looked awful because Tara said I looked both pale and kind of grey.  She has no clue what IBS is and I really couldn't go into it with her just then but I did manage to eat some of the great food.  The Princess has turned into a great cook.  She made a banana pudding that was incredible!  Her turkey was moist and tasty.  We had green bean casserole, some dinner rolls and even a slice of pecan pie that Johnnycakes dad had made.  The mashed potatoes were great but I missed having some gravy for it.  Oh well!  Beggars can't be choosers....LOL!

I found out that Sheepie and Teach didn't make it either because Sheepie was sick.  I don't doubt it after working for 12 hours straight on Black Friday!  But she sent over the green bean casserole for everyone.  That was sweet of her.  Two of us down sick.  Sad.

Tara stayed for a while and brought us up to speed on what's going on with her kids and her ex's.  She said she knew she was a bad niece and needed to come and visit us more often.  I just laughed and agreed with her.  I know she's busy.  It's tough working and managing a household.  I remember.  I also remember how much help my sister,  Cee,  was back then and don't know if she ever knew just how grateful I was.  Cee is Tara's mother.

Anyway, she said everyone at the Princess' ate well and enjoyed themselves.  I'm so glad they did.  I just went out to get myself some tea and discovered the Beast had put away the food before he went to bed.  He always goes to bed early on Saturday night due to church tomorrow for him.  But too often, I find the food out when I get up to get some coffee, tea or ice water, even if he says he will do that.

How are I feeling?  Much better but that doesn't seem to mean much and I won't trust it until/unless I wake up normally in the morning.  All I can do is wait and see and hope.

Weatherbug is saying warmer weather tomorrow.  Since it's almost midnight and it's still  54 degrees out, I would have to agree with that forecast.  Sure hope other areas of the country get some of this but I see more arctic air coming down to plague the mid-section of the country.  Brrr.

Love you all.  Please keep warm and dry and drive carefully.  ***Hugs***

SORRY BUT I HAVE BEEN REALLY SICK....

I am not kidding about being sick.  If I didn't know better, I would swear I had been poisoned.  It was probably the worst case of IBS that I have ever experienced and no idea why.  I thought over all I ate and there was nothing that should have brought this on.  Unless, of course, I had a mild form of flu or some such thing.  It was definitely a stomach virus of some sort.

It was really awful and made such a mess that I don't even want to recount it.  Thank goodness for the Beast because he rose to the occasion and cleaned all the towels, blankets and jammies that got messed up.  It was great of him to clean all that up for me.  Now we just need to do a bit of rug cleaning.  We will do that tomorrow.

I felt well enough today to finally eat something  and to start making the food I am bringing to the Princess' house on Saturday.  I will finish up putting it together tomorrow.  I'm not sure I will be able to make up the nut cups but I can always make them for Christmas.  I promised my girlfriend the recipe for them so I will have to send it to her tomorrow, when I am sure I am fully recovered.  At least I got a shower today and feel more human.  I did not do much except sleep and poop for the past three days.  Having IBS is a real bitch.  I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.  I swear, I am going to have to get some Depends in the house for the next time this hits me.

It's been colder than hell the past couple of days besides and, wouldn't you know, both my baseboard heater and the little heater on my desk stopped working.  Thankfully, we had a spare one for the desk and he managed to get the baseboard heater working.  It was just a loose connection.

Right now, it's just 28 degrees out and due to go down to about 24 but clear.  No snow.  Tomorrow we are just going to have a high of around 47.   It should be fairly nice on Saturday for our family Thanksgiving with a temperature near 60.  I'll take that.....LOL.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving today.  I'm just as glad we didn't have ours because I would have missed it and I would miss the company more than anything.  Well, no...I would also miss the food.  LOL!

Love you all.  Hope you are keeping warm and dry.  ***Hugs***

Chewlee And I Have An *Episode* Of Tummy Troubles

Chewlee wanted to sleep with me last night, which was fine with me once we got settled in comfortably.  I had no idea that she wasn't feeling well (still) although she said she had thrown up twice on Saturday after the pictures the Beast took.

At one point, she started crying because her tummy hurt her.  I wrapped my arms around her and held her, knowing that what she really wanted was her mommy and her own bed.  But, she got up to go to the bathroom but came back into my room and suddenly threw up.  Twice.  But it really wasn't much and cleaned up easily.  She said she felt better after that.  I woke up early since the Princess had said she was coming over around 7:30am to get Chewlee and texted her to see if she really WAS coming.  She called me back and said that she couldn't because Johnnycakes had left for work and the baby's car seat was in his car.  I told her that I was going back to bed then because I was tired.  Actually, I felt terrible.

Chewlee was asleep on the floor on a pile of comforters, with a pillow and a cover over her.  I laid back in my recliner and suddenly..wham!  I had to barf with no time to make the bathroom.  Luckily, I had a towel handy and a couple rags so I was okay as far as that went.  What's weird is that I felt better after I was done....just like Chewlee had said.  And, no...it wasn't food poisoning because neither Chewlee or I had eaten the same things.

Later on, Chewlee woke up and asked the Beast if he would take her home.  He had just gotten up so he told her he needed to wake up first.  She came into the puter room and told me he was going to take her home when he *woke up*.  I told her to let him drink his coffee first and then he would get dressed.  I told her to get dressed herself and gather up all the stuff she had brought with her.  I had already put some of them into her basket and she did have a couple things in one of her bags so that part was easy.  She came over and gave me a hug when the Beast finally drove her home.  I slept after she left for another hour or so but just felt a little funky when I finally woke up.  I have no idea what we had but I do know she brought it with her and gave it to me....LOL!  I hope she felt better once she got home to mommy and her own bed.

I spent the rest of the day just relaxing until I finally felt like eating again.  I made myself a sandwich and a bowl of soup.  The soup was actually this Chinese soup that reminded me of the kind the Chinese actually eat.  Not noodles ramen.  It was a bit spicy but very good and it all stayed down on me so I was happy.  I think whatever we were suffering from was mild and passing.  I hope so for Chewlee's sake anyway.  She has school, I don't.  LOL!

I made up my list of things I need to make what I am bringing over to the Princess' house on Saturday.  I mean the list of what I need in order to make them.  I should make the trip to the store to pick them up tomorrow because I don't want to wait until the last minute like a lot of people do.  And I sure don't want to get caught up in the Black Friday rush....LOL!  Besides, I want to make up the pecan cups early.  They are best when made up a few days ahead.

I can't believe our weather today.  Of course, it was heavily overcast and I had a hard time staying online since it's satellite.  Even the TV kept messing up and losing it's signal.  Then we had one heck of a fast storm and it was over.  No more problems with the TV or the Internet.  It was also fairly warm.  It got up to 65 degrees and stayed at 61 after dark until after midnight.  It's down to 59 right now but it's not supposed to get any lower than the low 50's.  What the heck???  Weird weather.

My friend in San Francisco told me they finally were getting some rain by her, which made us both happy, I think.  They have been in a severe drought there.  I'm sure they didn't get enough to make up for what they need but anything is better than nothing.

Love you all.  I wish you good weather this week.  Stay warm and dry.  Drive carefully and don't ignore any tornado warnings if it applies to your area.  ***Hugs***

Chewlee's Sleepover Day Two....

I really love to have Chewlee for a sleepover except she insists on making herself a bed on the floor of my computer room so she can be with me even when she falls asleep.  Lots of time, she wants me to sleep on the floor with her.  But I resist...most of the time...because I don't do floors well.  LOL!  Instead, I sleep in my recliner.  Sometimes, in the middle of the night, she will crawl into the recliner with me.  It's so sweet, even if it is a bit uncomfortable.

But you wouldn't believe the stuff she brings with her when she comes.  Stuffed animals, tub toys, her artists box that's full of things like markers, crayons, colored pencils, chalks....all things for the creative!  She did bring a change of clothes but no pajamas.  So tonight she is wearing one of my t-shirts as a nightgown.  I didn't want her to wear her clothes to sleep in.

My granddaughter, Sheepie, came over to spend some time with us.  Since she knew Chewlee was here, she brought over her curling iron to curl Chewlee's hair so the Beast would take some pictures.  Of course, she texted the Princess so the next thing I knew, the Princess and Gunner were here, too.  The whole bunch of them went out to take pictures and some of them I really love.  I'm going to post some of them tomorrow since the Beast was too mindblown after taking the pictures and then printing up the ones that everyone wanted.  Gunner is a natural for pictures.  He is so sweet and has the cutest smile.  Chewlee was in a good mood for pictures so she turned out well, too.  She felt glamorous.  LOL!

I didn't have a tough time getting Chewlee to sleep last night.  She is normally in bed by 8pm at the latest on school nights.  But tonight she has been fighting going to sleep and her mother plans on picking her up at 7:30am.  I keep reminding her of that because she loves her sleep and will be cranky if she doesn't have enough sleep when her mother wakes her up.

They are going to church, I believe and then home to decorate their tree.  They were going to do it today but Chewlee insisted she wanted to stay here.  It really was a beautiful day today.  Temperature was 61 and it was nice and sunny out.  I wish I could have appreciated it more but I had a touch of IBS.....again.  It makes for a miserable day for me.

It cracked me up that Chewlee and Sheepie went shopping with the Beast at our new Publix and came home with a huge jar of pickles.  They are both pickle addicts so there will be some here for them for the next couple of weeks, at least.  LOL!  There is no way the Beast and I will be able to use up a gallon jar of dill pickles.  Neither one of us is a big fan.  But the Beast did bring home some matzo ball soup mix so I think I will make some tomorrow and then maybe next Saturday when/if Sheepie comes over.  I'll wait and make it while she is here so she knows how it's all made.  She had asked some questions about it so I know she's curious.

Love you all.  Stay warm and dry.  Oh, talked to Mustachio briefly tonight.  He volunteered to work for Thanksgiving.  He says it's double time and a half for him so it's great money.  When he heard we were having our Thanksgiving on Saturday, he checked his schedule but he has to work on Saturday.  Otherwise, he would have come down to be with us all.  I'm sorry he can't make it.  Hope you all have plans to spend the day with family and/or friends.  ***Hugs***

Chewlee Has A Sleepover...

Yesterday Chewlee called me to ask if she could have a sleepover.  I had promised her she could when her mother said it was okay.  I wanted to make sure she didn't have any activity that she needed to be at first and foremost.  Well, it seems they have no more football games until around Christmas and her practices take place during the week to get ready for that.  So, she called and reminded me that I had promised her (although I told her after Thanksgiving Day) but she's a kid.

Chewlee fell asleep while we were watching an Animal Planet special so I covered her up and turned off the light.  The Beast was already in bed and I decided to get some rest, too.  We both slept thru the night, which I needed because I woke up with a case of IBS this morning.  I think it was because the Beast had turned off the baseboard heater at the fuse box and it got cold in here.  I had to get up and turn the heater on my desk up to warm it up for both Chewlee and me.  She was asleep on the floor and I knew she had to be cold without that heater working.  I was totally pissed at the Beast over that.

But this morning Chewlee wanted to go out and ride her bike.  It was 43 degrees out and she had not brought a jacket with her.  The Beast told me, like I was an idiot, that *it wasn't all that bad outside so let her go*.  But, sure as hell, she was back in the house within about 10 minutes and she was told she couldn't go out again without a jacket.  She decided to watch cartoons and also to make some snowflakes with her artists colors (crayons, chalks, paints, etc.) and the paper I keep here for her while she watched TV.

She amazes me how big she is getting.  I don't just mean tall...I mean how much older she acts at times.  She fixes herself sandwiches now and she is even eating vegetables.  Of course, I know most of that is due to her mother cracking down on her and being tough.  Eat what we have or go hungry kind of tough.  She learned but I am sure it wasn't easy on the Princess.  And it's tough to send your child to bed hungry.

I have to post this now because I really need to go lay down for a bit until my tummy settles down.  It's nice outside (61 and sunny now).  Love you all.  Hope you are getting a little relief from the cold weather (and, in some areas, the snow!).  Stay warm and try to  enjoy the day.  ***Hugs***

Sad News About A Friend.....

As if worry about my brother was not enough, a friend of mine that lives in the UK had a heart attack on October 17th.  It was severe and his doctor was amazed that he lived through it.  It left his left ventricle (which is the main one that pushes oxygen rich blood thru your body) so badly damaged that he is in chronic congestive heart failure.

To make matters worse, he has had two minor heart attacks this week alone.  The electrical signals that keep the heart beating in a good rhythm have gotten screwed up for him but he is not a candidate for any corrective surgery or even an implant for the heartbeat.  He has a severe case of COPD and wouldn't live through anesthetics.  This was news to me.  I had no idea he had COPD until we were talking on the phone tonight.  I was in tears over his acceptance of the fact that there is nothing that can be done for him.  When they put the stents in his heart on the 17th, the doctors had to apply the shock paddles to bring him out of the anesthetic and also to get his heart to beat.

He told me he had signed a DNR (do not resuscitate).  He said he had been given 23 more years than the men in his squadron that died in Desert Storm.  He said when he died, he would be able to fly once again with them and he was looking forward to that.  He did not expect any miracles and only hoped to live long enough to marry his fiance in January.  He also said he did not expect to live to his next birthday, which is in March.

He was NOT looking for sympathy.  He was urging me to accept that he was not going to be around for much longer.  I told him that you meet so few good people in your lifetime that you just don't want to see them die and not be there any more.   I feel badly for his fiance who hopes he lives long enough for their marriage.  She lives in California and will be taking leave from her job to go over to the UK in December.  She does not want him to die alone and have to be notified by his doctors that he is gone.  They know she is his fiance and they keep her informed as to his health.

But it does tell you that, as bad as you think your health may be, things could always be worse.  It seems the Beast has COPD but a mild form of it.  He will be using his ventilator twice a day from now on, I gather.  Since he isn't smoking, it will probably not get any worse unless he happens to get pneumonia or some other severe respiratory problem.  Knock on wood, at least he isn't in danger of losing his life due to other problems.

It's been nice weather here today.  It got up to 55 degrees and is supposed to hit around 60 tomorrow.  It's cold outside right now (35 degrees) and is supposed to go down to around freezing.  The Beast bought some suet and put it out for the birds using our feeders (we have three of them now).  He enjoys seeing them using them and has bought a big bag of seed for the birds plus more suet.   He also has been tearing up the stale bread we have and throwing it out in the yard as an extra for them and because you feel less like you are wasting it if you just throw it in the garbage.

I am ready for bed again so I will post this now and just leave saying *I love you all*.  Tell everyone you care about that you love them.  It's really easier than you think.  Try it!  Keep warm and dry.  ***Hugs***

I Survive The Night And A Visit From The Princess And Gunner....

I think I mentioned that I made green bean casserole but if I didn't, trust me, it was really good.  The Princess came to the house looking for some to snack on and didn't find it.  The Beast told her it was gone but I told her where it was in the fridge.  She had already texted Sheepie that there wasn't any and said she wasn't going to text her back.  She just took some, heated it up and ate it.

The night, although cold as heck, was made more comfortable for me with the aid of the little heater and a very warm comforter.  I ran out to the kitchen to get some hot coffee that the Beast had already made (the nut got up early!) then ran into my warm computer room.  That was where I was when the Princess showed up with Gunner AND the box that had her new camera in it.  She brought that over so the Beast could help her put it all together right, including the strap which can be frustrating.

Gunner was adorable, as always.  I love how his face lights up into a smile when I am holding him and talking to him.  Later, when they got ready to leave, he touched my face when I leaned in to give him a kiss.  So sweet!

The Princess had the bus driver drop Chewlee off at our house and Chewlee ran into my computer room all excited.  She gave me a big hug and said she missed me.  Then she helped herself to a piece of the gum I keep here for her.  I got to read her achievement paper that the teacher send home about her English progress and it was awesome.  She is really doing well.  I told her how proud I was of her.  She, of course, brought up coming here for a sleepover.  She wants it to be for two days...LOL!  I told her I would have to discuss that with her mother and it might not be until NEXT week.  She took that part okay.....as long as it was for both Friday and Saturday.  I just told her we would have to see what the schedule was for both her and her mother.

It's supposed to go down to 22 degrees tonight and only a high of 45.  I'll take it.  At least we didn't get any of the snow and/or ice that had been predicted.  What's funny is that our weather is supposed to take an upturn and be in the 60's by the weekend.  Talk about strange weather!  It's the same all over the country.  I'm glad I have gotten both my pneumonia and my flu shots for this year.  The warm/cold/warm/cold weather always seems to bring on illness for many people.  If you haven't gotten your shots already,  please do ASAP!

Love you all.  Stay warm and dry.  Drive defensively.  The life you save may be your own!  ***Hugs***

A Strange Night.....

Today was a fairly typical Sunday.  The Beast left for his afternoon church meeting and informed me that he had been put in charge of the *Welcoming Committee*.  That consists of himself and two of the women in his church.  Their duty is to take the speaker of the day out to lunch after the services.  Oh well.  As long as he is happy and out of my hair.

While he was gone, I noticed the scent sprayer I have in my computer room was not flashing it's light, which means the batteries need changing.  So I changed those and then noticed that the spray was gone.  Having no refills in the house that I could find, I took a deep breath and got dressed.  I set off for Walmart.

It took me a while to find the scent I wanted (lavender chamomile) but finally found a two pack pushed to the rear of the shelf.  I think it's popular...LOL.  I then decided, due to the cold I was feeling, to buy myself a pair of gloves.  I found a nice lined leather pair and tried them on.  They fit nicely so I added them to my cart.  Then I bought some tortilla chips, some french fried onions (I want to make a green bean casserole) and two boxes of chocolate cherries for the Beast.  They are his favorites.  I went home and, after putting things away, ate my chicken wings I had grabbed at the last minute.  I love those things and, since the Beast was out eating, I figured I would indulge myself.  Figures he would have a fit about it when he came home and checked on our account.  I get so tired of his spending what he wants when he wants to and acting like I am extravagant.  I seldom go to the store these days.

Anyway, about our weird weather....  Our high today during the day was 45 degrees.  It was also raining almost all day long.  I had a hard time with Baron who totally refused to go out even though he kept indicating he needed to.  He actually waited all damn day long and finally went out just before bedtime.  What a woose that dog is.

So it gets dark and I notice that our temperature is going UP.  WTH???  It went all the way up to 56 degrees!  I was awestruck that such a thing could happen.  It's 5:20am and the temperature is 50 degrees right now.  However, we have severe warnings for tonight.  Mixed ice and snow warnings and a low in the teens.  This is really and truly strange weather.  If it's global warming causing it, why does it seem like we are nearing another ice age scenario?  Or is it just me?

It snowed by Bratfink's and I suspect the same wave of weather that she experienced is what is going to cause our weather tonight.  Yikes!  I'm glad I bought my gloves although I have no intention of going out...trust me on that!  But...just in case I must....I have them in my purse.  LOL!

Love you all.  Keep warm.  Drive carefully.  Beware of black ice!  ***Hugs***

A Fun Visit

I had a visit from my granddaughter, Sheepie, today.  She and her two dogs came to spend the day with me while her fiance' spent the day watching college football games.  If you don't know it already, that's a big thing here in the South.  The fans can be rabid about their teams...LOL.

The dogs are adorable.  They are adults but small dogs.  Daphne is Sheepie's dog and little Cleo is Teach's.  I thought Cleo was adorable.  She's tiny and has these long skinny legs on her.  She bounces when she is trying to jump up on your lap or the chair you are sitting in.  She loves to be scratched or just cuddled.

I loved watching the two dogs play together.  What is funny is that Daphne didn't like Cleo when she was first found and brought into the house.  Sheepie brought her in, shaved her matted hair off and bathed her since she was filthy and had fleas.  After blowing her dry, Daphne showed her disapproval by trying to kill her.  At least, that's what Sheepie said.  Sheepie was going to try to find a family for Cleo but Teach fell in love with her and claimed her as his own.

You can tell by how they play together that the two dogs obviously settled their differences and now live amicably together.  They even shared a big rawhide bone (one of Baron's) with each of them on a different end, chewing with their little teeth.

We found out that the family is celebrating Thanksgiving on Saturday this year.  Two weeks from yesterday.  Sheepie plans on going over to the Princess' house early to help with the dinner preparations plus make what she plans on contributing.  I was asked to make my sweet potato casserole and some potato salad since Johnnycakes loves my potato salad.  I will also make some nut cups since I had planned on that anyway.  Sheepie is making the green bean casserole and some fruit salad.  So at least we know we will all be getting together, just not on the normal Thanksgiving day.  That's because Johnnycake's family is having their dinner on Thanksgiving.  The newlyweds don't really want to be dragging the baby (and all his accoutrements) around from place to place on the same day.  I don't blame them for that plus Gunner is so damn cute.  The family will want to be able to spend some time with Gunner and spoil him a little.

Sheepie helped the Beast salvage his chili.  He used a tomato paste with chili seasoning in it.  With all he had bought that was chili related plus the chili seasoning mix (in packets), the house smelled like both tomato paste and cumin.  That's all you could taste with the *bite* it also had.  All-in-all, it was the worst batch of chili the Beast ever made.  Sheepie helped a bit with her addition of sugar to cut the sharpness of the paste.  Even the Beast admitted it helped.  But there's no cure for too much cumin.  We all ate it but I've eaten (and made) better chili.  We talked about it later and I told the Beast to drop adding the chili mix from the envelopes and use what we have here.  I told him what I used when I make my chili and he said next time he would let me get the spices out for him and he's never using tomato paste again.....LOL!

Teach came to pick up Sheepie after the games were over and we got to talk for a bit.  I really love that guy and it's so cute how the two of them are together.  You can tell they love each other.  I think Teach liked the fact that I think Cleo is adorable, too.

I fell asleep early and didn't get up more than once to use the bathroom.  I didn't stay up but went right back to bed under my nice warm comforter.  I am heading back that way now that I am done with this blog.

Love you all.  Stay warm.  Have some fun.  ***Hugs***

Animals...A Blessing And A Pain !

I mentioned the other day about Baron's sore foot.  Not the bottom of it but the top.  It looks like he chewed it raw and there's no apparent reason for it.  We've been trying to keep an antiseptic ointment on it as well as a bandage.  Baron chewed off the first couple we put on him but the large gauze rolled stuff I had in my kit and regular tape wrapped tightly around the area seems to have defeated his efforts now.  He tried licking it first, then chewing at it and ended up falling asleep with it intact.

Although the area seems to look better, it may just be from our keeping him from chewing at it.  I told the Beast regardless of how it looks after this weekend, he needs to take the dog into the vet's and find out what is causing him to chew on the area.  It just worries me a lot.  He's too good a dog to let him suffer because he can't talk.

He really IS a good dog, too.  He LOOKS scary but is a real pussycat in reality.  There have been only a few instances where he has been around people that he reacted badly to.  By that, I mean his growl was really menacing because there was something about the person that Baron did NOT like.  He will bark when people (strangers) come to the door and the bark is different from when it's a friend.   But he is willing to accept anyone we invite in or greet in a friendly fashion.  He then thinks they have come to play with him.  In some ways, he is still very puppy-like that way.  As big and as old as he is!  LOL!  He's 7 years old which makes him almost middle age in doggie years.  Dobies live an average of 12-14 years so he has a way to go yet.

The sad thing is that, with his attachment to the Beast, I can see him pining away if anything happens to the Beast.  My son, Mustachio, says he will take Baron if anything happens to his dad but that's only because Baron seems to be more a man's dog than a woman's.  He's good for me but he's not *attached* in the same way.  I AM a pack leader but he LOVES the Beast.

He cracks me up with the way he shows when he's mad at the Beast.  He will pull the Beast's pillow off the bed and shove it into a corner or push it under the bed.  Sometimes he plops down in front of the door and won't let the Beast into the house...at first.  If the Beast is late giving him his food, he stands in the kitchen, facing the Beast and does this kind of growl and then a short bark.  Then he plops down on the floor with his face AWAY from the Beast to pretend he isn't really interested in seeing if his food is forthcoming.  After the Beast tells him he should go eat, he will casually walk over to his dish like he's just going to see if he's interested.  It's hysterical to watch.

He also seems to be able to read the Beast's mind.  I kid you not.  If the Beast is just thinking about taking him for a ride or taking the scooter out to run him around the circle, Baron will jump up from a sound sleep and suddenly be right there....staring at the Beast as if to say, *Well, let's go!*  It's not that he comes in to my computer room to tell me these things because he comes in to tell me all kinds of things...mostly about stuff he hears on the news...so it's not that.  It's almost scary how it happens and it's always when he plans on doing something with Baron.  You should see how excited Baron gets if the Beast thinks about taking him down to the river or on a real ride to the dog park in Huntsville.  It's amazing.

An animal can add all kinds of things in your life, including exasperation when they can't decide if they want in or out.  Baron can want to go out but, if it's raining or snowing, he will back into the house and refuse to go out.  And he won't go out until he's desperate to relieve himself!  Talk about a wimp!  And yet, I have seen him out in the snow, running through it and having a ball!  Go figure.

Today we had a high of 36 degrees.  Brrr!  It's now 28 degrees outside and is supposed to go down to around 24 by morning.  It is not going to be fun from here on out.  Me?  I am keeping my room heaters on and just concentrating on keeping warm.

The Beast made a pineapple upside down cake today that turned out really great.  He's adding a little too much brown sugar, I think, but that's just me.  It was still good.  It will be even better in the morning so it may end up being breakfast...LOL!  I made a scrambled egg sandwich for breakfast today.  Added just a bit of finely chopped onion to it because it had been a while since I had one and that's what I had a taste for.

The Beast has also started buying us honey wheat bread because it's *healthier* and it seems to be much fresher than most of the regular white bread available lately.  I really don't care.  I don't eat a lot of bread unless I make a sandwich and I don't make many of those because we don't buy much lunchmeat.  That will probably change next week because our Publix is going to be opening.  They sent us a bunch of coupons for their grand opening, too.  I know the Beast is looking forward to that.  Hell, a lot of people around here are!

Time to get this posted.  Love you all and I hope you are keeping warm and dry.  It's the weekend but drive safely still.  I think we are all in for some weird weather.  ***Hugs***

It's Heeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrreeeeee !!!

We've been waiting for it and now it's here.  The Arctic air mass that has plagued other areas of the country and even brought snow to some areas.  I sure hope we don't see any.  It's bad enough that it's as cold as it is.

The Beast went to his church meeting last night and it was just 32 degrees at 6:30pm.  It was the same at 9 when he got home but...in less than an hour, it had dropped down to 30 degrees and was still going down, down, down!  It's 3:30am now and the temperature outside is 23 degrees.   My heater is blasting away at the moment.  My room is nice and toasty warm, thankfully but the deck looks covered in frost.  It's been very damp out the past couple of days as this cold weather approached and it started to affect both daytime and night time temperatures.  My poor arthritis in my left hand was/is very painful!

I woke up at a decent time and managed to stay up all day.  I got dressed up nice and warm (I layered) and made sure my feet were warm.  The Beast decided to make us chili for lunch and it turned out great.  Very tasty and just enough *fire* in it for us.  I enjoyed mine so much that I had it for my dinner.  There is nothing better than a hot bowl of chili with some buttered crackers on a cold day.  Yum!

I went to bed early since I had been up all day and had no nap.  I told Bratfink goodnight and headed for bed.  I figured I would probably be up in 3-4 hours to use the bathroom and could do this blog then.  LOL....I was right.  But it was 5 hours that I slept before being driven to wake up and run to the bathroom.  I will be heading back to bed as soon as I get this posted.

Dennis and Diane finally got their new dining room table.  I don't know what it is with those two and all the glass they have.  Their coffee table, Dennis' desk, Diane's desk, Diane's dressing table and now the dining table.  And they have 7 dining chairs.  Huh?  I'm sorry but that is a weird number to me.  LOL!

Baron has been chewing on one of his paws for some reason.  I told the Beast that if it doesn't heal (we have it bandaged up with some ointment on it) over the weekend, he has to take Baron in to the vets on Monday.  It looks just awful but there doesn't seem to be any reason that he would be chewing on it that we can tell.  He spends most of his time in the house and is only outside for a daily run around the circle or just long enough to pee.  He does his duty after his run and that's about it for him.  The rest of the time, he's here, in the house and spends most of his time laying down next to the Beast or in his lap.

Well, time to head back to bed.  Love you all and I hope you all keep warm.  It's Friday and the end of the work week for many.  Make some fun plans for the weekend before the weather gets too bad.  ***Hugs***

It's Beginning To Feel A Lot Like Winter....

Tonight was the start of the arctic air mass hitting our area.  It was actually supposed to be a lot cooler than it is (32 degrees F.).  It should have been in the lower 20's, according to the weatherman.  But it's always just a guess.  However, the humidity is high and it feels like it's 24 degrees outside according to my Weather Bug.

I just know that I had to crank up my heat and I am using my comforter for warmth while I sleep.  I was asleep for several hours but got up to use the bathroom (I just hate being old!) and realized I needed to do my blog.  Of course, I had to check into my favorite site and discovered they were giving out 5 gems to watch each video (which only lasts for under three minutes) so I got distracted and watched (sort of) videos for a while.  I was down to 11 this morning and closed off the night with 251.  I also watched a couple videos that were under a minute that paid 5 gems so it was a nice productive time while I also talked to Bratfink on YIM.  She was also *mining gems* as she calls it..  She started off with over 300 gems, however, and went to be with 500+.  We use them to go to charm parties and the charms pay out coins (useless of course) when we play slots, bingo or any of the many other games on the site.  It's neat because you actually *buy* one charm and get 25 plus whatever other charms people buy to share with the group.  You buy one during the party and everyone at the party gets one, too.  You can get over 100 charms at a  party at times for much less than it would cost you to buy yourself a few.

I like the fact that you can get the gems for free.  Many people buy them and I swear, some of them are rich just from the sheer number that they buy and use in the charm parties.  It might take you time to get enough gems for the party you want to attend but, hey....it's free!

I hadn't realized that my VIP status was up for renewal this month but my gf Carol paid for mine....again.  She wants us both to be VIP's together.  I just wish she was feeling better and we connected more these past couple of weeks.

Found out one of our  mutual online friends is suffering from heart failure.  He had a massive heart attack on Oct. 17th and had to have emergency surgery to put stents into his heart.  However, I guess the main ventricle has only 25% working..the rest was killed off in his heart attack.  There's not a lot that can be done for that except to do a lot of resting and not much physical activity.  He's getting married in January and told me when we talked on the phone that at least he knew he wouldn't die alone.  Not that he expects her to die too....lol...he just meant that someone would be there with him when he passes.  I told him not to be in a rush because the world will be much less interesting without him around.  He hosts the best charm parties on the site primarily because of his personality and his generosity.   He has loads of people that just love him because he has an engaging personality.  I was saddened to hear that not much can be done for him.

Well, I am tired and need to go back to bed.  Love  you all and I wish you lots of warmth and the love of friends and family.  ***Hugs***

Same Shit, Different Day....lol

I have no idea why but I slept for a long time today.  No, wait!  I know why.  I was just too comfortable and the Beast stayed quiet for a change.  I didn't wake up until after 2pm!!!  I kid you not.  And, although I did get up to go to the bathroom and I checked to see if Bratfink was online, I had already slept a couple hours before that happened.  So for me to sleep so long was very strange.

The Beast made some great roast beef but he made a mistake using teriyaki on it.  He wanted it for sandwiches and teriyaki is just too sweet for that.  Oh, I ate it but I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have with just salt and pepper to season it.  I asked him why he can't make anything regular...without some kind of sauce that he has to slather all over it.  I don't require all that crap on my food.  His answer?  He LIKES to *try* different things.  But he promised next time it will just be regular gravy with onions and mushrooms.  Now THAT would be wonderful.  *Grin*

I had to order a refill on the ointment the Beast has been using on his rash that he blamed on my fabric softener.  The doctor gave him a shot of steroids and prescribed this ointment for him.  It's working great.  I have to go to the site that tells me about it and find out what it's used for.  The Beast never asks the right questions as far as I am concerned.  I need to know about everything that I use/take from the doctor.  They are used to my asking questions.  One doctor always tells his nurses/aides that I am the kind of patient they expected but seldom get.  I thought that was funny when I heard him saying that to his nurse the first time.

We had company, briefly.  A young couple (the ones that the Beast did the pics of their wedding) stopped by mainly because they had never met/seen Baron.  I know, I know...that surprised me, too.  But they had never actually seen a doberman except on TV and in pictures.  They were really surprised because they didn't expect him to be so big (he's both taller and heavier muscled than most dobermans).  But he's the Beast's baby.  You would die laughing to see the Beast in his recliner with this 120 lb dog asleep in his lap.  When Baron is ready for bed for the night, he has this special kind of short bark that he makes which is his *C'mon...it's OUR bedtime!* bark.  And, most of the time, the Beast goes!  LOL!

Tonight Baron was happy just to go to sleep in the Beast's lap.  They were both up until midnight...well, Baron was sleeping but he didn't complain....lmao.  He was with HIS MAN...and that was all that mattered.

Well, I should go to bed now.  It's 12:30 at night.  I don't want to pull another afternoon wake-up tomorrow.  Don't forget the landing on the comet tomorrow.  We are a bit confused about the *real* time but the one on TV is at 9pm CST.  Check your local listings for the channel.  I am also going to check the NASA site and see what's going on there.

Love you all.  Stay warm.  Drive carefully.  ***Hugs***

CIABATTA BREAD AND TERIYAKI BEEF

If you like a crispy, cruncy crust on bread, buy one of those *bake at home* loaves of chiabatta bread.  It's kind of flat (only a little over an inch thick) but it's wonderful for sandwiches.  The Beast had never had any before but he sure enjoyed it tonight.

He was in a cooking mood so he made some macadamia nut cookies (delish!) and we had a kind of teriyaki stir fry over rice for a late lunch.  I wanted him to add the veggies to it but all he put in was some green pepper, onion and pineapple tidbits.  But it did taste good to me.  Of course, I was hungry...lol.

Later he baked the ciabatta bread and I cut it into four pieces, cut it like a pocket with the pointy end up and filled it with the beef that was left over from lunch.  I didn't have to clear any pineapple because between me and the Beast, we ate all the pineapple...lol.  Besides, it's good for your digestion.  The beef was incredibly tender and the bread was so crunchy.  Even tho' I had put some of the *gravy* in the *pocket*, nothing leaked out.  That's the best part of having a nice crusty bread.  You would have to be a very slow eater for anything to leak.  I didn't rush but nothing leaked any way.

I spent the day organizing my computer room and that included moving my pajamas, underwear and socks into the covered bin to keep handy for when I take my shower.  There was plenty of room for all I had and I even found some socks I thought were lost or I had thrown out.  I wasn't really sure what happened to them but they were at the bottom of my clothes basket.  It now has all my shoes, boots and slippers in it.  I started on clearing up some of the regular bookcase and the Beast complained because I moved this one instruction book of his.  I laughed and said...*What?  I moved it maybe  5 inches and you can't find it?*  Even he laughed at that because that was true.  I will finish up the room tomorrow.  I have to straighten up my DVD bookcase and I am not looking forward to that!

I will move my desk and clean the window behind it and then vacuum my rug to see if I need to clean it yet.  If so, I will do that on Thursday when the Beast is gone most of the day with his friends from church and then for his church meeting in the evening.  He annoys the hell out of me when I am trying to do something because he considers himself the *expert* in the house now.  I know he had to take over the household when I had my first leg surgery and I hadn't been healed long before I had to have the second one done.  But he has a lot to learn.  I had to show him how to iron his dress shirts.  He used to do it when he was a kid (I always did it for years after we got married but, c'mon!  How can you forget how to iron???  He is so vain about his appearance when he goes to church or to any special function.  I would hate to have to compete with him.

He bought me a lightweight jacket to wear on days when my parka would be too warm and cumbersome.  I was surprised.  It's a nice jacket even tho' I know he got it in the mens department.  It works.  It's actually the perfect weight.  Has a light lining in it and I love the pockets.  Not that I really use them for anything but cough drops at times and kleenex but they are nice and deep, unlike a lot of women's jackets.  I don't understand how he can be so thoughtful at times and such a shit at others.  I DID finally mention to him that this last time I was sick was almost as bad as when I had the flu three years ago.  I told him that I didn't care about no food because I didn't really want any but....I really could have used some ice water several times.  He actually looked embarrassed.  He told me he DID check on me from time to time.  But I know it was only to see if I was dead or alive.  LOL!

Some good news about my brother, David.  He's doing much better now that they got the ammonia out of his system (and whatever else they had found).  He was aware, knew who my sister Bee was and was even able to feed himself although he complained about the pureed food.  He couldn't understand why it was all they were feeding him.  My sister had to explain it to him, including the fact that they were afraid he would choke on regular food.  His kidneys are working good but he is still weak.  Bee told him if he worked hard on getting his strength back, she would take him to her daughter's house for Thanksgiving.  He liked that idea so we shall see how well he does.

Buttmunch emailed me and wanted my recipe for nut cups.  She's going to a friend's house for Thanksgiving and her friend insists she wants to do all the cooking herself.  But Buttmunch knows people love the nut cups and that's something she can make ahead of time and bring for another dessert.  I emailed the recipe to her and she texted me this...*You rock!*  LOL..nut!

I have to get my minature muffin pans from the Princess so I can make some of those, too.  I'm not sure who is having dinner at their house (either Tara or the Princess) and nothing has been said about what I can bring/make.  So I will make nut cups and bring some wine regardless of who is having it.  Hmmm...maybe I will pick up some Bailey's too....great in coffee *grin*!  I do remember the Princess saying something about Johnnycake's family having their dinner on Saturday this year.  I'm glad.  That means they don't have to worry about eating two meals in one day...LOL.  Maybe I can bring Chewlee home with me afterward to have a sleepover.  I miss the little stinker.

We won't be hit bad by the arctic weather front until Wednesday night.  It's going to be really cold and miserable.  Even the day time temps will suck.  Gotta pull up my big girls pants and make sure I have all my winter jammies handy.  Bless you, Princess for the bootie slippers.  I will be using those for sure!  I'm going to hate when those wear out.  I haven't seen anything like them if/when they do.  But with Publix opening next week, they might have the pink fuzzy ones I liked buying for Xmas presents.  If they do have them, I may buy me two different colors and put them away until I need them.

Love you all.  Please keep warm and have a great work week (if it applies).  Drive carefully if you live in an area that got snow.  Poor Minneapolis!  They really got hit and so did Chicago.  Gee, what a surprise THAT is!  That has to be the earliest in many, many years that snow has shown up this early, however.  Be good.  ***Hugs***

A Normal Day?

I guess you could say I had what passes for a normal day today.  I woke up early (around 7:30am) and the Beast was going out with a few people from his church.  There was no bible meeting today because of the special meeting they had yesterday (the movie, remember?).  So Baron and I had the morning together.

When the Beast got home, he told me one of his church friends, who had seen some of his photos from a young couple's wedding that the Beast had taken, asked him if he would take some pics of her son.  He's a nice young man, about 16 years old and has a bad complexion.  The Beast spent some time *cleaning up* the complexion and you could see what a difference it made in his looks.  The pics turned out great and he made up a 16x20 as well as some 4x6 inch ones of different poses.  The young man was definitely *into* having his pics done and did a great job with the poses.  All the photos were taken outdoors and looks very *fall-ish* due to the leaves on the ground and the different colors in the trees.  He even brought changes of clothes so they don't all look alike.  His mother should love the pics when the Beast brings them over to their house tomorrow.

We ate pizza (the ones he brought home yesterday) for our late lunch and I had a salad for my dinner since I wasn't all that hungry AND I sure didn't want another IBS attack.....LOL!  I talked to Bratfink for a bit online.  She has an old friend of hers visiting and I gather they are enjoying the visit.  All the cats even came and greeted her friend (and they are NOT always friendly to visitors).  But I was glad she was finally getting to see her friend (they haven't seen each other for 39 years!).  They used to work together in California, I think it was.  They remained friends and stayed in touch either by phone or via the Internet.

They watched a movie together.  Can you believe that someone had not seen *Avatar*?  What an amazing film that was/is.  I love it and watch it often.  The special effects are just incredible.  I even watched the *how the film was made* section of it on DVD.  It took a lot of effort on the part of the actors even.  I really wondered how they could achieve some of the special effects.  It's just incredible what they can do these days.

I will let Bratfink give you all the details on the visit in her blog, when she gets to it.  I can only relay what she told me but it IS her friend and her visit.  Neither one of us got our naps for various reasons.  With me, it was the Beast's constant coming into my computer room (where I was trying to nap in my recliner) to show me the pictures he had printed up and get my opinion on them.  I know it's important for him to get my feedback (and I always critique them if I think he hasn't done a good job).  He sometimes gets the complexion too pale, for example.  He takes my opinions to heart because he wants the people to really like the work he has done.  He knows I am usually right on some of the things I tell him.

I spent a couple hours playing my Jewel Quest game.  Funny but it was the Beast that gave me that game about 12 years ago for my birthday, I think it was.  He also gave me the Iwin mahjong game on CD and I play that one a lot too.  Like the Jewel Quest game, it has a LOT of variety to it.  I only started playing it because I gave up trying to take a nap and I can always pause the game (each level is timed).

I really need to look for some other games I can buy and play without being on a special game site like Pogo or Vegas World or any of the hundreds of other game sites.  I've been playing on those sites for several years (Pogo the longest).   But I enjoy VW primarily because of the charm parties and all the online friends I have made there.  It's where I met my friend, Carol, from San Francisco.  *Sigh*  Wish we weren't living on different sides of the US of A.  It would be nice to be able to visit in person.  I worry about her when I don't get a chance to talk online.  She hasn't been feeling well (we share that problem too...LOL) and has to rest a lot.  It's tough to be confined to a wheelchair most of the time.  I remember how it was that year the Beast was in one after his strokes.  I was his caregiver and it was NOT fun for either of us.  But Carol has multiple problems to contend with and has no choice.

I am wearing the pajamas she sent me as a gift.  They are sooooooo warm and comfortable.  We are going to be hit with some nasty weather later in the week and the cold will NOT be welcome here, trust me.  The days won't be so bad but the nights will be cold as hell.  Down into the 20's most of the time.  I will be surprised if we don't get snow.  It won't stay on the ground long due to the days being sunny and not under freezing temps.  But it won't be fun if we have to go out at night for any reason.

Love you all.  Please stay warm.  Lots of areas got snow today (it covered 8 states!) so be very careful driving if you are in one of those places.  ***Hugs***

Strange Cravings...

I have no idea if my IBS and the dehydration I suffered or what it is, but I have developed a strange craving for salt for some reason.  Not just any salt....but coarse sea salt.  Perhaps it's more the minerals in it than the salt itself but I have the need to pick out big rock pieces and crunch them in my teeth.  I know, I know...weird.  It's not for lack of food, lord knows.  p

The Beast came home from his *movie* at church tonight with more food than we can eat in two days or more.  He brought us each steak and cheese sandwiches from our favorite Italian restaurant PLUS two small pizzas.  They have a *buy one, get one* deal on the pizzas but those alone would have done us for two days.  Neither one of us can manage a whole steak and cheese sandwich so I have no idea what was going on in his mind.  He had to have been absolutely famished when he got there.

Every time I think the craving is done with, it starts back up.  I doubled up on my vitamins to see if that helped and I cut down on my water intake, thinking that perhaps I am drinking too much.  But, alas...nothing seems to work.  I am hoping I get over this because I know too much salt intake is NOT a good thing.  I am keeping it down to one big grain of the salt about every half hour and hoping that works.  We shall see.  The longer I can crunch the grain, the better it seems.  Cross your fingers for me.  I know this is not a good thing.

I discovered a small sore under one breast today.  I think that is from the sweating I did when I was so sick.  I'm keeping it dry and powdered so that it heals up.  One thing that happened while I was sick was I lost a lot of the fat in my chest area (you know where I mean...) and now feel like a joke from the comics.  I won't go into details but I sure don't have the filling for some of my bras now....LOL!

Time to get back to bed for the night.  I'm getting kind of used to the only being up to go to the bathroom (and then do my blog if I have the energy).  Love you all.  Stay warm.  I hear we are going to be hit by an arctic blast on Monday.....brrr!  ***Hugs***

Slept Thru The Night....

I went to bed at a decent time and only woke up to go to the bathroom once or twice.  I ended up sleeping all night and only woke up briefly this morning when the Princess and Chewlee came by the house for a bit.  I was still too tired to wake up fully but did get a hug from her when she got here plus when they left.

When I got up for good, imagine my surprise to find out it was only 11am!  I was sure I had slept a lot longer than that...LOL.  The Beast bought me a new keyboard for my computer that came yesterday and I really am liking it a lot.  No batteries, no cord...it's solar powered but will also charge up under a lightbulb.  I get afternoon sun in my computer room window so I have the best of both worlds.  A lamp on my desk AND a window behind it.

The Beast was a real sweetheart today and washed my clothes from the last couple days for me.  I wasn't looking forward to that but now all I have to do is fold it all.  I was grateful since, trust me, those clothes really NEEDED washing after my IBS attack. "Nuff said.

The Beast had some sort of special church meeting this afternoon.  He ended up being late for it because he wasn't paying attention to the time.  There was going to be some kind of movie shown and I told him I was sure someone could *catch him up* on anything he missed.  He ran out of here when I pointed out to him that he was already 15 minutes late for the start.  He just HATES to be late.

I took the opportunity to run out and throw my garbage out since there were orange peels in it and those things seem to have those little tiny flies that hatch out of them.  I noticed a couple and decided to freeze them out.  I had to throw out the boxes from the keyboard anyway.  At least now the flies seem to be gone.  That's another thing I don't like about winter weather.  Those little bugs that show up because you have the heat on.  Yuk!

I need to pack up my pillbox for the week ahead now so I am going to post this now.  Love you all.  Keep warm.  ***Hugs***

Sorry, I've Been Too Sick To Blog

I've had positively the worst case of IBS that I have EVER had and the last three days have been miserable for me.  The Beast noticed I was sick the first day but ignored me after that.  I thought I would die from thirst.  I know damn well he wants me to die.  No one ignores someone that long without even being concerned about their having water to drink!

I finally got up and managed to get myself some water.  It was the first time I wasn't making a run for the toilet but the inside of my mouth was so dry, I had to have something.  I lapped some out of my hand to begin with and then made my way to the kitchen and got a big glass.  I still haven't eaten anything.  The Beast had offered me some bean soup but I know that is what set off this bout of IBS.  I should have known better than to have split pea soup and then some bean soup the next day.  Color me an idiot.

I am beginning to feel like this may be over.  I will know by tomorrow or later tonight even.  I've missed you all.  Take care of your health.  ***Hugs***

Dinner At Dennis And Diane's...

This morning we got a call from Dennis inviting us over for dinner.  I wasn't up yet so the Beast told him he would check to see how I felt when I woke up.  That's what greeted me when I woke up and went to get my morning coffee.  I didn't feel bad so I said it sounded good to me.

At 5pm, I was dressed and ready to go.  First mistake....we walked across the street.  Now I know that doesn't sound all that bad, right?  But you would have to see the path we have to take to get to the front door.  It's not *just* across the street.  But I made it there and got to sit down once we got into the kitchen and said our hellos.  It seems they had company.  Friends of theirs that came down from New York to visit for a couple days.  We were introduced and, once I sat down, I was given a glass of wine.  I had never heard of *white* merlot (it's kind of a light reddish color or a dark pink) but it was very tasty.  A mildly sweet wine.

I thought they had gotten all their furniture but it seems not.  They have the guest room furniture, the office furniture, the living room furniture, their mattress and box springs, Diane's dressing table and the chairs for the breakfast bar.  They kept the small table from the RV but the chairs for their dining table had been delivered so that was where we girls ate.  The guys ate at the breakfast bar.  The living room furniture included a really neat cabinet for their HUGE TV which they had also had in the RV.

After I had rested for a bit, I finally got to see the bathrooms which have the most unusual sinks in them.  They don't have what you would call normal sinks.  They look more like a fountain and are just gorgeous.  Dennis had to show me the safe room which looks almost like something out of one of the Doomsday Preppers handbook.  It has a half bath, the washer and dryer and a separate room that includes bunkbeds and storage shelves for holding lots and lots of food.  I told Dennis he should ask the Beast if he wants to bring over the MRE's that we have stored out in our garage.  They are meals for four people so it makes sense to have them stored somewhere safe....in case of a tornado taking our house.  I'm going to mention it to the Beast myself.  If a tornado hits our house, those would be lost and they were expensive.  I would feel better if they were safe.  We sure aren't going to think of grabbing any of them if the worst happens.

We found out that Dennis and Diane's friends (a really nice couple) are going to buy the lot behind their house and build a house of their own there.  I just had to laugh.  I told Diane that it seems like this area is going to be sold, little-by-little, to friends of the people who originally bought here.  But Diane thinks it would be a great idea since the guys could hang out and we girls could do things like go shopping and out for lunch.  I told Diane that my sister, Cee, was talking about moving to this area next year and she could always join us.  Di and I talked about some of OUR times where we went out shopping and I spent most of my time talking her out of buying things.  She said it was different now since she isn't working so there's not all that free income.  I sure hope so, I said.  LOL!

They still need clocks for the house since the only ones they have are on the microwave and the alarm clock in their bedroom.  They don't have anything hanging on their walls at all yet.  Diane said they couldn't keep any of the paintings they had in their house when they bought the RV and she missed them terribly when they sold them off.  But she promised Dennis that they would buy anything for the walls together so I sighed in relief.  That will help keep her from going off on a tangent.  I know how she can get.

Dinner was delicious.  Diane made chicken with some kind of a rub on it.  Sides included baked sliced sweet potatoes lightly seasoned with cayenne, brown sugar, cumin and something else that I forget.  Also some green bean casserole and baby carrots with onion.  It all was very tasty and seemed to go together well.  I teased Diane about expecting baked eel, sea urchins and other exotics since she IS a gourmet cook.  She laughed and said she was NEVER that strange a gourmet cook (true!).  That's when I told her that it was my sister, Bratfink, that had said it.  Diane got this strange look on her face and said, *Oh.  Do I know her?*  I just had to laugh at the look on her face and told her no.  But I had talked about Diane so much over the years, it was almost like my sister knew HER.

I noticed that Diane still has her convection oven which is how she prepared the chicken.  It's why the white meat stayed so juicy.  Her plans are to make pot pies tomorrow with the leftovers.  She DID send home some chicken for Baron (they both love him).  Diane made the comment that they own no pets but they have doggie treats here that they buy for him.  She told me they had just bought some doggie chicken jerky for him when they went shopping yesterday.    I told her she could make some pot pie to share with US as long as she was going to cook.

We finally made our way home around 8pm and I HAD to lay down.  I fell asleep and only woke up a little bit ago because I needed a bathroom break and I was thirsty after having that glass of wine.  My leg was paining me so I took a pain pill so I can go back to sleep after I get this posted.

Love you all.  It's only down into the 40's tonight and should be in the upper 60's tomorrow.  Be good.  Take care of yourselves.  ***Hugs***

My Poor Chewlee !

The Princess came over with Gunner and Chewlee today so that the Beast could show her how to use Photo Shop.  I knew something was wrong with Chewlee because she came into my computer room so quietly.  She then said, *I don't feel well*.  I felt her head and she didn't seem to be warm so I told her to get herself a pillow off the guest bed and lay down on the floor to watch TV.  She wanted something to drink (milk) so she went and got her special glass and filled it with milk then came in and laid down to watch cartoons.

I went into my bedroom to see Gunner and he was sound asleep.  He looked like a little angel but I wasn't going to chance waking him up so I didn't get to hold him.  He's been teething and fussy so I figured both he and the Princess needed his sleep....LOL.

When the Princess got ready to leave, poor Chewlee suddenly upchucked all over the living room floor.  She looked so humiliated and so sick.  Her mother looked at the mess and said, *What in the world did you eat?*  I told her that it was milk (and that's all it was).  She asked Chewlee what she had eaten today and Chewlee said, *Nothing*.  Nothing?  From my little eating machine?  She really DIDN'T feel good if she had not eaten anything.  Worse!  Her mother hadn't even noticed.  I know a fussy baby keeps you distracted and busy but...to not notice?

I felt Chewlee's head and neck and it was warm...too warm.  The Princess said she had taken Chewlee's temperature in the morning but it was normal.  So she is planning on taking her to the doctor tomorrow.  I can't think of anything harder on a mother than to have two sick kids (if you count teething as being sick).  Hopefully those teeth will finally erupt and the worst of it will be over for Gunner.  For now.

The Beast made some chocolate chip cookies today and decided to add nuts AND raisins to them.  DO NOT DO THIS!  They did not taste good to me.  I like the nuts but the raisins make them taste funky to me.  I told you he likes to experiment but this is the first time he's done it with cookies.  I don't think even HE liked them with raisins.  LOL!

Just FYI, once I finally got my feet warmed up yesterday, I put on the bootie type slippers I got from the Princess last Christmas (I happen to love them) and my feet have stayed warm ever since.  They were really painfully cold.  I now keep the heating pad next to my bed....just in case.

Poor Baron really missed the Beast yesterday.  He has been sticking to him like glue ever since he got home.  He even lay down next to the Beast's side of the bed even though HIS bedding is on MY side.  The Beast complained about it because it's worse than usual.  Baron wants to be in his lap if he sits in his recliner and follows him everywhere...even into the bathroom!  LOL!

It got all the way up to 51 today....I am being facetious when I say that like I was pleased.  It is still getting down into the upper 20's at night.  I'm hoping tonight actually WILL be the last night of that for a while.  You just can't trust the weatherman.  It's still just an educated guess.  They have lots of equipment and education but Mother Nature still can surprise you.  I am dying to go over to Dennis and Diane's to see their new furniture.  Even the Princess got to do that today.  She brought Gunner over so they could see him.  It was the first time they had gotten to see my newest great-grand.

Time to get this posted.  Love you all.  I hope you have a really great week.  Keep warm.  ***Hugs***

IT WAS SO COLD, I WAS ALMOST SICK.....

The Beast went to his special meeting this morning and, despite my threatening him, he turned off the heat in the living room when he left.  The house was very cold...so cold that I was shivering despite having warm pajamas, my robe, socks and slippers on.  We were down in the 20's during the night and our floors (with the wood) just radiate the cold up into the house.  We have good insulation everywhere but our floors.

So, when I discovered what he had done, I turned that heater on, the oven on and the floorboard heaters all on.  Then I went and laid down underneath a heavy comforter until the house warmed up enough for me to get dressed and run up to the store for my split peas and some ham.  It took about an hour and a half and I didn't feel well but I dressed and went to the store, regardless.  I wanted some split pea soup.  I knew our Walmart started carrying it and I just hoped they had some (they did).  I was in and out of the store in about 10 minutes flat and made the round trip in just a half hour.  I waited until afternoon to start the soup, however.  I had to lay down under the comforter again to warm back up.  It was only 34 degrees outside when I went to the store at 9am.

I really felt half sick from the cold and my feet were killing me.  It is the neuropathy, of course.  I finally ended up sitting with my feet on a heating pad to warm them up.  Even my ankles had tightened up from the cold.  I have no idea what to do to keep them warm....and it's not even winter yet!  I had my bootie type slippers on with some heavy socks.  I will probably sleep with the heating pad under my feet later when I go to bed.  The heavy comforter should make sure they stay warm.  I sure hope so anyway.

My split pea soup came out great.  Perfect.  Hit the spot....lol.  Even the Beast had a big bowl of it.  He used one of the chili cups I have because he was hungry and it smelled so good to him (his words).  What did he expect?   I'm a good cook.  My mother taught me.  *Grin*  I just wish I had felt good enough to make up the yeast rolls I have in the freezer.  I just didn't want to wait since I hadn't eaten any lunch.  I know...I know....I'm bad.  But when you are half sick from the cold, you just don't have an appetite.  At least, I don't.  I will make the rolls for our lunch tomorrow before the Beast goes to church.  Then I think I will let him make dinner.

We didn't get any trick-or-treaters around here yesterday.  But we are a kind of enclave here and out in the country, too.  Besides, the town has a big party and so do several other places including one hotel in the next town.  The parents are smarter to take the kids to those.  It's just so much safer, don't you think?

Dennis and Diane are in their house, finally.  All the furniture was delivered and put in place.  But here's a surprise!  After building the big barn to house the RV, they SOLD it!  I kid you not!  I almost fell over when I heard that.  The Beast says Dennis didn't want to pay the price for the license plate here ($1200.) since it's based on value and it was/is a very expensive RV.  The man that bought it traveled all the way from Texas to buy it and really tried to talk Dennis down in price even though he sold it for $10,000. under wholesale pricing.  But it's now sold and will probably be in Texas tomorrow.  Now what in the hell is Dennis going to do with that white elephant barn?  ROFLMAO!!!

Another freeze warning for tonight and it's already down to 35 degrees.  I had to turn the heat up in my computer room here because the arthritis in my left hand started to really hurt from some small breeze in here.  I'll track it down and stuff a towel in it, I swear.

Love you all.  Keep warm and sweet dreams.  Enjoy what is left of your weekend.  ***Hugs***

The Beast Takes His Breathing Test.....

The Beast took his breathing test on Thursday afternoon and really didn't want to talk about it at first.  It seems he did awful at it.  The scar tissue on his lungs is from all his years of smoking almost three packs of cigarettes a day.  His having quit over two years ago hasn't made any difference.  It seems he now will most likely be diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).  That is where getting rid of the air in your lungs becomes problematic.  Since that is the carbon dioxide that we breath OUT, you can see where that might lead to major problems.

I have no idea what the future problems will be but will have to wait and see when we have to go back to the pulmonary doctor's office in two weeks.  Why it takes two weeks for him to come up with a game plan, I have no idea.

It's cold outside.  We have freeze warnings going on for the next two days at least.  Since it's 34 outside, I will take that as a given.  Especially since the humidity is so darn high (87%).  We got the car packed up today for him so he can just get dressed in the morning, eat something for breakfast, fill up his travel cup and leave.  If it's foggy, I want him to be able to take it easy on the road and not go tearing off trying to make up time so he can get to Birmingham on time.  Especially since he will have a friend from his church with him in the car.

Love you all.  Am heading back to bed.  I am really tired still and have to get up in a couple hours to send off the Beast.  Have a great weekend but be careful while out doing your chores.  ***Hugs***
