I Go For Surgical Preop Tests......

Today I had to go for my preop testing.  My appointment was at 2:30pm but I got there early and got taken in right away.  They weren't all that busy, thank goodness, so I didn't have to wait for any length of time.

It's always the same...step on the scale.  Take blood pressure.  Lay on the gurney for a 12-lead EKG.  Sit down to have blood drawn.  The initial nurse that took the info on all your meds comes in with all these forms for you to sign for permission for the surgery and the anesthesia then gives you several sheets of information on what you have to do, what to expect AFTER surgery and hands me this lotion to apply to my skin for the three days prior to surgery after I bathe.  I was used to getting a special soap to wash with so this was a surprise.  It means the Beast has to help me by applying it to my back.  Oh well.  It's just for the next three days.

I have no idea why but I got very nauseous when I got there so they gave me some Sprite Zero to see if it helped (it did).  I drove home and took a short nap.  When I woke up, I was hungry and the Beast hadn't eaten anything.  I made us each a hamburger with some grilled onion.  That made the Beast happy because he would have been starving when he got home from his church meeting.  This way he only snacked when he got home.

Me?  I guess the grease didn't agree with me because about an hour after eating, I barfed.  My tummy was really upset and I had to go lay down for a while.  It kind of made me mad because I was talking to Bratfink and had to run to the bathroom to barf.  I told her what happened and she agreed that I should go lay down and settle my tummy but, of course, I fell asleep.  That was what I needed though.  When I woke up, my tummy was fine, I didn't have any gerd in my throat and I felt 100% better.  But Bratfink had signed off and gone to bed.  Well, it WAS late...almost midnight here so it was almost 1am at Bratfink's.

My friend from San Francisco sent the beads and stuff to me today and the post office said I should get it on Saturday.  I guess she sent it in a priority box.  She told me look over the stuff she sent to see if it was something my daughter-in-law, Raven, would be able to use for her jewelry making.  I can make a fairly educated guess but can't actually say yes or no until I see what she sent me.  She says she has more stuff but hasn't located where she stashed it when her eyesight started to fail her and she got too shaky to do her crafts.

Chewlee will get her surprise next week since the baby doll won't get to her (my friend) until Saturday.  She was mad because she paid for priority shipping.  It was supposed to be there on Tuesday.  I told her that it didn't make a difference to Chewlee because she really wasn't expecting anything.  A surprise to her can be just a letter.  I had no idea that my friend was ordering a new baby doll for Chewlee.  I thought it was something she had there at her house from her crafts or something.  She is also going to send, separately, a small dream catcher for Chewlee to hang up on her wall.  Chewlee loves those even though she doesn't really know what they are or mean.  She just thinks they are *neat*....LOL!

Poor Mustachio is still suffering a lot with his wrist.  I finally told him to push for a second opinion on it since he says every time he comes home from the current doctor, he's in more pain than before.  Something is not right.  The nurse also told him that it would probably be a couple more months before he could return to work.  That blew me away.  After my surgery on my wrist, it was just a matter of healing.  That shouldn't be taking someone that is so much younger (and heals better) that long a time.  He says he isn't able to sleep more than two hours at a time, then he is up for two hours before he can go back to sleep again.  That doesn't help the healing process any.  The doctor doesn't believe in pain medication either.  That to me is totally stupid.  It's also why I told him to push for a second opinion...have another doctor take a look to see why he is still in so much pain even this long after his surgery.

It's cold, cold, cold outside but is supposed to get better this weekend.  I sure hope so.  It's been such a tease with the way our weather has been lately.  Warm for two or three days (well, sort of warm) then cold, cold again.  Enough!!!!

Love you all.  Have a fantastic Friday.  ***Hugs***

Nothing To Say....

Well, almost nothing.  Have you heard about the wild dogs out in Arizona that are creating huge problems?  I kid you not...big packs of them.  Guess what kind?  Now don't laugh....chihuahuas!  No joke.  Can you believe it?  I was sure it had to be a joke.  I'm still not sure it isn't but...if you hear about it, you heard it here first!  LOL!

Actually, nothing much has been going on here for the past couple of days.  It's been too cold for the Beast to take any pictures of the pregnant Princess.  He says SHE is a wimp about the cold and I can tell you HE is, too.  The pot calling the kettle black...lol.

I have to go to the hospital tomorrow afternoon for my pre-admission testing and then will find out on Friday what time I have to show up on Monday for my surgery.  The gal that called today said they would give me a phone number to call on Friday for that information.  I swear, all this is becoming more complicated than it used to be.

I've been falling asleep early for the past couple days and waking up in the wee hours of the morning....around 4am or so.  Which means I am back asleep by about 7or 8am and I sleep until noon.  I keep telling the Beast that I am just getting some *hopeful* beauty sleep but, so far, I don't see it helping at all.  He's been going to bed around 9 or 9:30pm and sleeping damn near 12 hours.  Of course, he probably wasn't getting much good sleep a few days ago but is making up for it now that his neck and shoulders are not hurting him.

It's 10:45pm right now and the temp had dropped to 24 degrees so far.  It's supposed to drop down to about 15.  No snow, no precipitation of any kind but lots of wind so the whole area is in a fire watch due to the low humidity.  Fun, fun, fun....

Love you all.  Be good.  Be careful.  ***Hugs***

Scheduled For Surgery....

My doctor's head nurse called finally and told me that, since my doctor will be out of town for what they call *continuing education* starting this Thursday, I won't have my surgery until Monday.  I have to go in to the hospital on Thursday afternoon for my pre-admission tests (blood tests, of course).  Once that is all done, they will give me my instructions (no food or drink after midnight and who knows what else) and the time I need to be at the hospital.  It will probably be early or at least I sure hope so.  I will be put under a general anesthetic because of the delay between the excision of the basal cell carcinoma and the pathologist giving his okay.  He won't okay it unless it has a minimum cell clearance of one layer.  They prefer more but my doctor really doesn't want me to have a large scar.

The skin cancer you can see right now is only about a half inch long.  He already warned me that it is probably going to require much more than that to ensure it's all gone.  He said it might end up being over an inch long, all-in-all.  I told him he had to do what he had to do to get rid of it.  He smiled and I honestly felt like he was going to pat me on the head...or the back.  I will see another doctor on Friday to check out the big toe and see how it's done this Friday because of the continuing education requirement he has to meet.  It's a yearly thing.  He says he likes to get it done early in the year and prefers to do it during the colder weather.  It's in Atlanta so it's only a couple hours away.  He will probably just drive down there this Thursday.  The classes (it's set up in three parts) will be from Friday thru Sunday.  It's over by 1pm and he can drive home and be home well before dark.

I talked with Bratfink for a while this afternoon and we talked off and on until she went to bed.  She's over her feeling of not wanting to *talk* to anyone (and that means ME).  It was nice to have her back.

I promised to make a cherry pie tomorrow.  It becomes very simple when you use the pre-made pie crusts and canned filling.  I DO add some tapioca to it to make sure it holds together well.  Since I use the *instant* tapioca, I don't have to pre-cook it.  If I used the pearl tapioca, I would have to.  The Beast just loves pies and cakes but he's not made anything that actually had to be baked.  He's more the chocolate pudding filling type or sliced bananas with cooked vanilla pudding in a graham cracker crust (also pre-made).  Those two are his favorites so they were his first attempts at a *pie*.

The Beast is going to be taking pictures of the Princess in her preggers condition tomorrow, he said.  I gather she will be here around 1pm.  It won't be perfect lighting unless it's *lightly* overcast.  He likes to use fill flash lighting but that's his preference.  He does pretty well.  I will wait to see what kind of pictures he ends up with and make him give me some that I can post here.  I just wish it could be with Chewlee in the picture.  That would be perfect.  Oh well!

It turned out to be a bit warmer today than was predicted but, hey, that's par for the course.  It was only 58 for our high but that was about 10 degrees warmer than we expected.  It was bright and sunny out, too.  I didn't sit outside, just stepped out for a bit to watch the construction work going on across the street.  I can hardly wait for the framing to begin.  I'm getting as bad as Dennis and Dianne....LOL!

Mustachio is waiting to hear from Buttmunch.  Her income tax return arrived on Saturday.  Since it's over $600, he knows she can use it.  I think he tried calling her but she didn't have her phone turned on.  I told him I would mention it here since she does read my blog on occasion and catches up on the news by reading what she missed.

Love you all.  ***Hugs***

Sleepy Head Here....

Yesterday we ended up with Chewlee for a few hours.  The Princess was pretty sure she had a bladder infection so she went to the emergency room at the hospital.  You know how that can go.  Long waits and a lot of boredom while you are waiting to be taken care of.  When you are pregnant, you can't let those go for any length of time.

Chewlee was herself, as usual.  The day turned out to be amazing (up to 73 degrees) and was bright and sunny.  Baron, of course, rolled in the dry grass and got up looking terrible with hundreds of pieces of the dried grass on his coat.  Chewlee went and got his brush and we both tried brushing him off.  He doesn't mind it most of the time but yesterday he was antsy.  He really wanted to get out and run.  Later on, when the Beast got on his scooter, run is what he did.  He ran away from the Beast and into the wild growth areas on the perimeter of our neighborhood.  He was very bad and didn't want to listen to the Beast until he got off his scooter and headed for Baron.  Suddenly, Baron would respond to the commands.  That didn't last long.  As soon as the Beast got back on the scooter, off Baron would run again.

He did, finally, head for home when the Beast ran ahead of him without stopping.  Baron headed for the garage where the Beast parks the scooter.  He KNEW he had been bad and hung his head down when he came up to the Beast.  But, poor Baron really needs to run a lot more than just around our circle one time.  I told that to the Beast but he never listens to me.

Chewlee played with her dolls she keeps here.  One of them is a mermaid with the thickest head of hair I've even seen on a Barbie style doll.  She played with her hair until she was finally satisfied.  Chewlee also borrowed my comb so her mother could cut her hair.  CUT HER HAIR????  It's just getting to a nice length again.  I hope she doesn't intend to cut it short.  It wouldn't be our Chewlee.  Chewlee has just gotten to the point where she brushes her hair....a lot!  When she takes her bath here, I blow dry her hair for her.  I use my big round brush and it makes her hair straight, which she loves.  She wants hair like her mother, of course.

The Princess is really looking pregnant these days.  She looks like she's carrying a large, round watermelon under her tops.  I don't understand how these women can wear shirts that are tight on their bellies.  It's like they want to show off just how big (or little) they are.  I would never have worn some of the things I see on them these days.  But then, I am from a totally different era.

The Beast is still suffering from his neck problems that started a few days back.  All because of the way he worked on our generator.  He forgets he's not a young man any more and he just doesn't bounce back like he use to.  He will probably never learn...LOL.

Anyway, I sat outside a couple times but the main thing was that I never DID take a nap.  So, when I finally got a chance to, around 8pm, I fell asleep for the night.  I don't usually sleep that long in one shot but I did last night.  Sorry about that.  I was just too sleepy.  Even when I got up to use the bathroom, I was so sleepy that I had to just go back to bed.  I DID manage to stay awake long enough to put some ointment on the Beast's neck before HE went to bed.  I knew I was probably going to sleep longer than usual but I didn't expect to sleep until 7am, that's for sure.

It's a nice day again today just not as warm.  But I love the sun and clear blue skies.  It's the prettiest blue!  I saw some robins in our back yard so they must think winter is almost over.  They are the first ones I've seen in ages.  All I need to see now is some cardinals and I will KNOW that winter is finally gone!

Love you all.  Be good.  Stay safe.  ***Hugs***

Got Good News And Bad News....

Well, the good news is that the *hole* in my toe has reduced itself by more than half in this past week.  Guess the football bandage helped in that department along with the new topical treatment the doctor used.  He also finally cut back the callus on that same toe.  I don't know why but I have always had heavy calluses on my toes.  Now that I have just the one toe, it seems to be a heavier callus than is even normal for me.

Now the bad news....the sore that wouldn't heal that the doctor biopsied is, indeed, a skin cancer.  It came back as a basal cell carcinoma that he is going to remove next week when his nurse can get an operating room for us.  He is doing it there, when the pathologist will be at the hospital, so that what he excises can be checked to make sure he's gotten all of it cleanly removed.   That means there has to be at least a cell layer free of any of it.  They usually go a bit deeper than that since it's so hard to *see* a cell layer without a microscope and he won't be using one.  He warned me that it will probably be bigger than I expect (or hope) and that there is the possibility that the stitches may pull apart unless I am very careful.  So, I will be very careful.  I hate those large, ugly scars from that kind of wound.  I've seen them on others.

My dear friend, Carol, wrote Chewlee a nice, personal note.  It's so cute and is on a card with hummingbirds on it.  She told Chewlee that she understood her mommy was going to have a baby brother and wasn't it lucky that he would have such a loving older sister that could help her mommy out.  She also told her to watch the mail for a surprise for her.  Chewlee told me she wished she would get it at HER house and, when I told her that was MY fault because I didn't know the numbers for her address, only the street, she told me she would ask her mother and write it down for me because she didn't know it by heart.

When I get it, I will give it to Carol so she can send it directly to her.  That will thrill her all to pieces.  I know what the surprise is but haven't told her that I do.  Carol is going to adopt Chewlee as her own granddaughter because she never had any little girls, not even granddaughters, of her own.  Neither of her sons have any children and, at their age now, they never will.  Carol is 10 years older than I am so I hope it really does make her happy to *adopt* Chewlee like she was hers.  She is an overweight, brittle diabetic with severe knee problems.  She also has a slight heart problem so the doctors won't replace her knees even if she signs a paper resolving them of any responsibility.  She can't walk for more than a few steps so she is in a wheelchair now.  She still is one of the sweetest people I have never met.  She and I met online.  She lives in the San Francisco
area.  We will probably never meet in person but I have shared pictures of Chewlee and I talk about her all the time so she feels like she knows her.

We have swapped addresses and she is the one that sent me flowers when I was in the hospital a couple months back.  I am just glad I met her, regardless of the circumstances.  Really nice people are few and far between.

Our weather is now pretty much back to our regular winter weather.  In the 50's during the day and dropping down to freezing at night.  The Beast was working on our big generator today and is paying the price for his stance while doing it.  It was mostly squatting down and hunched over.  I have been swathing him in Icy Hot on his neck and upper right back tonight to try to make him comfortable.  He's attempting to sleep with the heating pad on low.  Poor guy is just miserable.  I feel bad for him.

Tomorrow is supposed to be overcast and cooler than today and that is why they are saying we may get some sleet.  We had one heck of a storm last night.  Sounded a lot worse than it actually was...not much rain at all.  But the thunder and lightning was cool.  It didn't last long, however, so there wasn't really any danger to us in it.  No tornadoes, which is a big concern when you have such weird weather with a day as warm as it was yesterday.  Strange days, folks, strange days.

Love you all.  Have a great weekend!  ***Hugs***

Weather Alerts For Our Area....

I have no idea what is going on with people.  They watch the weather channel but they can't use their eyes and head at the same time.  It was predicting some stormy weather going through Alabama and Georgia but it was through other areas of Alabama and mostly Georgia that was getting the bad storms and heavy winds.

All we had in OUR area was a strong wind advisory.  But there are people who worry over things without using their heads and it creates problems for others.  I swear, I could not believe the people who were panicking because someone said on TV that a lot of people would probably lose power in the *affected areas*.    They talked like both Alabama and Georgia were going to lose their power just from high winds for cryin' out loud.  They even cancelled the Beast's church meeting and I know they are going to feel stupid.  So far, not a drop of rain or any wind at all and it's past the time the *weather* was supposed to be hitting us all in *Alabama*.  Sheesh!

Now, I could be proven wrong but not during the time they said it should be hitting our area.  But that's beside the point, isn't it?  It's how people don't really pay attention to the radar and have no idea where WE are on the map of our state without having all the roads and towns showing on it like a real map.

I think what annoys me the most is that, in truth, the weather channel treats Alabama like it's not even part of the US.  Oh, it occasionally mentions Birmingham or Mobile, but otherwise it just skips over our state and goes from Georgia to Arkansas and beyond.  We just don't exist until or unless tornadoes hit us.  Oh THEN they acknowledge our existence.  Poor Tuscaloosa had to be almost wiped off the map before they talked about the tornadoes hitting us.  That was when the Beast and I had no electricity for about 10 days.  It might even have been longer than that but we had both our solar and our generator going for us so we weren't suffering like a lot of others.  The Beast has us set up for the solar right now and our little generator should be here soon.  The Beast worked on getting the big generator working but we are going to go ahead and replace the carb on it while we are able.

It was 72 degrees here, overcast for part of the day and we DID get a couple light sprinkles then got some nice sunshine.  Baron and I sat outside together for a while.  I spoke with my friend, Carol, from California and she wanted permission to send a baby doll blanket (and a baby doll) to Chewlee.  The blanket for the doll was actually her practice blanket where she tried out the pattern that was intended for the crib blanket she is sending for the Princess's baby.  She said it's full of mistakes but I told her that I didn't think Chewlee would notice or care about.

Love you all.  If we get some wild weather, you'll hear about it right here.  Tomorrow.  Or the next day.  Depending.  On our power.  **Hugs**

Wow! What A Fantastic Day!

It was the kind of day today that is going to piss me off in a few days when we get more winter weather.  Today it was 68 degrees out.  I am NOT kidding you!  Warm and sunny out all day long.  The temperature didn't go below 58 during the night.  I had my window open all night long and it just didn't get cold due to very little wind.  Tomorrow our temperature is supposed to go up into the mid 70's...that's going to be short weather around here...at least for one day...LOL!

But the Beast worked on our big generator today to make sure it was ready for this  year's power outages.  The solar is good for a few hours but we need the big generator for anything that is going to last more than say....12 hours.  Like when we were hit with the tornadoes two years ago (or was it 3 now?  Hmm.) Anyway, he found out we need a new carb for it and he ended up running up to Lowe's to talk to the service manager directly.  He was so frustrated between the two websites and then trying to talk to the people at the other end of the 800 numbers for the two companies responsible for producing the generator.  At least the service manager was more knowledgeable at Lowe's and knew what was needed and where to get it.  He ordered it for the Beast and it should be here in 10-14 days.   I won't tell you what it's costing us but a new generator would cost around $1800. so the price is negligible in comparison.  At least it means the generator will be ready and working if and when we need it.

The Beast spent a couple hours on the generator before giving up on fixing the carb.  He was outside in just a t-shirt.  Baron was in 7th heaven just laying around on the driveway.  Me?  I just waited for the HH nurse to show up.  I don't know why it's necessary but I will mention it to the doctor when I see him on Friday.

I'm tired tonight and plan on getting to bed at a decent time.  The Beast has already gone to bed and I'm going to be following shortly.  I want to get back into a regular schedule of sleeping and waking.  I'm tired of feeling a bit like a vampire.

Love you all.  Be good.  Be happy.  Stay warm and dry.  ***Hugs***

PS:  I almost forgot to tell you.  Bratfink is fine.  She is just feeling...well, antisocial.  She says she doesn't feel like talking...LOL!  Although I think she means she doesn't feel like talking to ME.  Oh well!   At least you know not to worry about her.

Baby Brat Fouls Up Her Computer....LOL

Poor Baby Brat has a lot of issues to deal with since she had all her little mini-strokes that left her memory impaired.  Her short-term memory is really impaired a lot and she forgets things she has done in just a few hours sometimes.

Today Sister Cee called to ask the Beast about what she had to do to get Baby Brat online.  Turns out she had actually gotten most of the problem resolved when she had deleted all the incredible programs that Baby Brat had downloaded but didn't remember doing.  Sister Cee knew they weren't things that Baby Brat ever used.  There were still problems but she managed to get the computer online, finally, and the Beast suggested that she call Marcus Aurelius for more advice.  Marcus is kind of the family expert on software problems.  But he didn't have his phone number so he told her to call me for that since I DO talk to him on occasion (and visit him, too).

After I gave her his #, we just talked family stuff for a bit since I don't always include some of the things she wants to know in this blog.  She made me promise to call her more often and I did.  It's simple as hell but I just don't think about it since I know she reads my blog.  I feel like we are keeping in touch even though it's not the same.  Oh well.  Call me an idjit.

Since this is about family, I have to mention that I haven't seen Bratfink online the past couple of days....well, four days.  That always makes me worry about her.  But, since I have spent most of the past three days sleeping, how could I have even if I had had my computer up?  If it hadn't been for a prayer request I received from her yesterday, I would have thought her internet was down.  But, what worries me is that she wasn't feeling all that well the last time we talked.  I guess it's time to make that phone call I hate to because I know Sheldon pays by the minute for his phone.  But, if I find out she's okay, I will let you know.

Although I slept late today, I DID spend most of it in an upright position.  I really have to stop staying up so late at night when I do that.  I end up paying for it with *catch-up* sleep eventually.  I was kind of glad that the Beast let me sleep this time.  I woke up just for the bathroom and to grab a bite to eat then back to *ZZZZZZ's*.  I knew I was tired because I DID fall back asleep so quickly.  Learn from me....do not get so interested in anything online that you look at the clock and suddenly realize it's 3 or 4am!  Set an alarm or something so you get your butt to bed at a decent time!  At my age, I need my sleep....LOL!  Bad enough that I will wake up at 5am at times and turn on my computer, only to end up talking to a friend who has ALSO gotten up early and turned on her computer.  We finally talked about this today and promised no more talking for an hour or more.  Now let's see if we keep that promise.  LOL!

It was really great weather today.  I sat outside for about an hour, just enjoying the warmth (it was 69 at the time) and the fresh air.  Baron ran around outside for a bit but, with the way he haunted the fence between our neighbors yard and ours, I knew he was missing Bozo.  I was sorry the new neighbors didn't have a dog just because of that.  Our weather will improve (temperature included) every day until Tuesday of next week according to our forecast.  Then, guess what?  Sleet.  Yeah, you read that right...sleet.  AND a drastic drop in temperature along with that or we couldn't have sleet.  YUK!  If sleet does show up, it will mean the kids here will have had more snow days off in all the time we have lived here.  We just don't have the kind of weather this year has supplied.

Love you all.  Be good.  Be careful.  ***Hugs***

It Was Almost Perfect...Almost!

Today we had really great weather.  It was 62 for our high, which actually came fairly early in the afternoon.  It started warming up in leaps and bounds this morning.  Even before the sun had risen, our temperature went up rapidly from the low of 36 that I saw when I got up to use the bathroom and decided to stay up.  I keep an active Weatherbug on my desktop so I saw that when I turned on my computer at 6:30am.

It was bright but slightly overcast but, as the mornng progressed, the sun came out in all it's glory.  Our neighbor, Dennis, got to pour the concrete for his patio area in what will be the front of his house.  He was anxious to get that done and our weather has been so weird lately that he kept having to put it off until he was almost tearing his hair out.  I actually saw him smile and make a joke or two today.

I had another quiet day, personally.  I just made us some lunch...BLT's.  Baron was going nuts and kept trying to find out where I was stashing the bacon so his hose was on the counter A LOT.  I guess it's true.  Dogs really DO love bacon.  But he didn't get any.  Darn dog is heavy enough without becoming a FAT big dog.

The Beast noticed that one of the tumors that Baron has is growing larger.  They've both been biopsied and they are just fatty tumors but Baron is protecting that side again from coming in contact with the floor or being touched when he's being bathed.  So the Beast, although he hates the thought since ANY surgery is dangerous for an animal, is finally going to see about having both tumors removed.  That's his buddy....his best friend....so he's afraid of losing him before his time.

After making lunch, it was more folding clothes for me.  Not because I did washing but because my pajama drawer had become a mess.  I got that much done then cleaned off my dresser top which had been kind of neglected.  It all looks nice now but this house gets so dusty for some reason.  Probably from all the construction right across the street but that can't be helped.  Oh well!  Love you all.  Hope you enjoyed your President's Day today.  **Hugs**

Forgive Me.....

Have you ever had a day when you just didn't feel like doing anything at all?  Well, almost anything.  That was me yesterday.  I DID do some laundry but that was pretty much it for me.  It wasn't that I was depressed or anything like that.  It was just that I didn't feel like doing a whole lot except enjoy the day and relax.  This *thing* (football bandage) on my foot is making me crazy but I can live with it for a while.  I lived with that valve in my chest for  8 weeks and I've only had this *thing* since Friday.

Today was an even better day.  Our temperature went up to 59 (heat wave for winter) and the Beast even took Baron for a run on the motor scooter.  The funny thing is that he was all dressed for church.  Had to have given our neighbors a laugh to see him all dressed up and taking the dog for his run.  LOL!

I worked on the guest room.  I made the bed and straightened up the dresser.  Found a few of Chewlee's toys and put them into her basket.  I refrained from yelling at the Beast who always takes a pen with him to church and ends up putting them on the dresser when he comes home and undresses.  I found four pens on the dresser.  And he had the nerve to put another one there when he came home today.  I just walked in, picked it up and put it in the drawer with the others.  He just said, *Oops!* but I think he got my meaning.  He makes a lot of mess that he can't blame on Chewlee.  That includes the different hard candies he empties out of his pockets onto the dresser, too.  We have a box of pens that is in the drawer in the kitchen.  He's the one that put it there so he knows where they should be put.  Sheesh!

I'm still having a problem with my leg because of the way this bandage on my foot makes me walk.  My poor heel is going to have a callus on it when it's taken off on Friday.  That is, unless the part of the dressing on the heel scrapes it off naturally.  Who knows?  I DO know that my heel hurts after just three days.

Talked to Tara today about our taxes since the Beast made some money on consulting fees.  We have to pay social security on it since it's a 1099 (independent contractor) plus another 8%.  It won't end up being much, thankfully, but with our car insurance coming due this month, it hurts since we live on our social security checks.  It only goes so far.....

Tara is giving a baby shower for the Princess.  It's the first time I've heard of her consulting with the mother about the theme.  But she is hoping we will help out with the cost of it.  I assured her that we could manage that as long as it wasn't THIS month.  The shower will take place the last week of April more than likely on the weekend since Tara has customers she has to take care of during the week.  She even told Tara what kind of things she wanted for the baby....mostly onesie's, which I think is great.  We had those for the Princess when she was a baby.  Easy to change a diaper in them.  Since the baby isn't due until early June, the weather should be warm so they are appropriate wear for a baby.  Since they know it's a boy, the color choices are easy.  No pinks.  LOL!

I'm beginning to think I have TMJ syndrome due to the pain in my jaw on the right side.  I have no idea how to take care of it or even if it's possible with both upper and lower plates.  I suppose it means I should replace these teeth.  After 10 years, they are probably really worn down from what they should be.  Trouble is, I want to get them from the same dentist that the Beast's brother got his.  They make really inexpensive plates there and they are nice.  It would mean spending a couple days at his brother's house and I'm not sure they are speaking.  I may have to make the trip alone.  I'll have to wait and see.  I can't do anything until this toe heals.

The Beast started looking at zoos and petting zoos close to us.  What he's thinking about is taking Chewlee to the zoo with us.  Chewlee has wanted me to go to the zoo with her for a long time but I've had to put her off while I was healing from the surgery on my legs and then trying to get some stamina back.  I'm still not sure how well I will do with all the walking required but all I can do is try.  He found a petting zoo close to us that also has pony rides.  I think Chewlee would absolutely love the hell out of that.  When the weather gets warmer, we will make that trip.  He wants to take her to the botanical gardens in Huntsville, too.  There is also a kind of wildlife reserve that you drive thru in Huntsville, too.  I have no idea why all this has suddenly hit the Beast but it's all to the good where it concerns Chewlee.  I love to see her excited.  She gets so cute!

Time to post this before I get complaints.  Love you all.  Have a fantastic week!  ***Hugs***

Ever Heard Of A Football Bandage?

It wasn't for a football injury, that's for sure.  When the doctor told the nurse he wanted a *football bandage* on my foot, I was surprised and asked the doctor what it was.  I imagined that it would be a kind of raised, football shaped pad to keep the pressure off my injured toe.  He had said he could tell I was putting pressure on it because of the callus that was forming.  I knew he was right because I didn't wear the special shoe unless I was going outside.  I told him I always kept socks on my feet or my booties that the Princess gave me for Christmas.  He shook his head and said it wasn't good enough even if I wasn't doing much walking.  And I wasn't really.

So he told me that since he was using a treatment that had to remain for the full week until I saw him again, I was to keep the football bandage on all week too and not get it wet.  So I am still imagining this pad that will lift and keep my toe from any direct pressure.  Kind of like those corn plasters, know what I mean.  Imagine my surprise when the nurse starts pulling out all these supplies and tells me that the bandage will replace the special shoe.  Huh?  Then the layering begins....and covers my whole foot.  There's this one layer that looks like a special sponge padding (and that's actually what it was).  She had to have used about two yards of it starting beneath my toe line.  Then came another couple of layers of a sticky white bandage.  On top of that was a sticky bandage that reminded me of one of those bandages you use for sprains.  THEN...she takes this material that's like a heavy gauze and covers the whole thing up to my ankle twice over.  The toe had been bandaged loosely all by itself to cover the dressing the doctor had put on it.  It actually looked like I had a small football that engulfed my foot.

Since I had to walk on it to my car and then into the house, she covered that all up with a plastic bag and then one of those blue papery slippers over that.  I looked like I had just had some kind of surgery on my foot.  But, when I stepped  down on it, it actually forces my foot on my heel and elevates the toes.  Problem solved from the doctor's point of view...LOL!  I felt like an idiot when I headed out to my car.  The plastic bag was to protect the bandage from any puddles or moisture still on the sidewalks and/or driveways due to the snow we had.  It was melting all over but was not dried up yet.  I have to cover the bandage with plastic any time I go outside for the next week.  I doubt I will be going out much for the next week, trust me.

The bad part of this bandage, as I discovered when I took my nap, is that forcing my lower leg into the unnatural position puts pressures on various muscles that aren't used to the position they normally are in.  So guess what woke me up in terrible pain?  Cramps and spasms of the aforementioned muscles.  I have never had a charlie horse in the front part of my lower leg before.  And it hurt like hell!  It's made me reluctant to try sleeping again even though my eyes want to slam shut.  I kept zoning out trying to play bingo online but I really feel I have to be close to unconscious or I will wake up screaming in pain.  I gave up trying to play bingo because I found  myself locked in place over one number or another and never even heard the caller continuing for several numbers before I snapped awake.

I think I am almost tired enough now to call it a day and it's 3:30am!  Say a little prayer for me.  I have no idea how long this type of pain might continue or if the muscles will get used to the new pressures being put on  them.  I'm not even sure that is a good thing.  But you have to trust your doctor, don't you?

The Beast managed to refrain from laughing at me.....barely.  I had planned on stop at Walmart to pick up my prescription that was ready but decided against that once I had the bandage on.  So I made the Beast go pick it up instead.  Not really a big deal since he had planned on going for some chicken for the dog anyway.  I was grateful because it was for my pain pills and I really needed them when I woke up in pain.

We got up into the 50's today, as predicted, but no sun.  It was overcast all day so it felt cooler than that temperature would have felt with a bit of sun shining.  It's down to 30 degrees now and feels even colder because there's a breeze and the humidity is high because of the melting snow.  It probably would have melted away with some sunlight but, alas!, no sunlight so there's still snow left.  Not much, but still.........

Love you all.  I'm going to post this and brave my bed.  I really, really need the sleep now.  I pray that's enough to keep me from waking up, screaming in pain.  Enjoy your weekend regardless of your weather.  We are all on the *right* side of the grass so we should be grateful for that.  ***Hugs***

Chewlee Has Fun With Our Unusual Snowfall....

It really is true that we seldom get any snow here, let alone almost 8 inches of it.  Once we ate breakfast, Chewlee hurriedly got dressed so she could go out and play.  I stood on the front porch in my robe and pajamas (but in the direct sun and there was no breeze at all) to watch her.  The Beast took the opportunity to take some pictures of her and she was in a good mood so she posed for him.  Here are a few of the pictures he took:

Her scarf, if you check it out, actually shows a progression of what she has been enjoying, including knocking snow off branches of the evergreen tree out front.  I wish he had taken a picture of her making one of her snow angels but he was in too much of a hurry to check out the images he got.  That poor scarf kept growing and growing and growing from the weight of the snow.  It was just perfect for snowballs and we were the target of a few of them.  She forgot I had access to the snow on the lower bannister and the steps to fight back.  It was fun.

Love you all.  Now you can appreciate more of my little doll but in winter gear this time.  Very different from this one that was posted not all that long ago.

Love you all.  Have a great weekend, won't you?  ***Hugs***

Chewlee Spends The Night And We Already Have Four Inches Of Snow On The Ground

I could hardly believe it but it was the Beast that called the Princess and asked if Chewlee could spend the night at our house.  He was betting that we would get snow and Chewlee wouldn't have school on Thursday.  He went over and got her (he also got a big hug from her, she was so happy to see him!), brought her home and it wasn't long after that that the snow started falling.  He was right.  It didn't take long before we had four inches of snow on the ground and it was still falling heavily when I last checked.

To make matters worse, my internet is going in and out so I don't think I will be able to get this posted.  It will have to be put into draft mode...LOL.

IT WAS AT THIS POINT THAT WE LOST OUR POWER.  We did not get it back until almost 5:30pm this evening.  We woke up to 8 inches of snow on the ground and a bright, sunny day.  Chewlee was ecstatic as she dressed to go outside and play in it.  The Beast took pictures of her which I will be able to post tomorrow (sorry, but remember...we only got our electric back a little bit ago.  We are still trying to warm up the house (and ourselves).

Now, I'm sure some of you remember that the Beast added solar power to the house two years ago just a day or two before we got hit by a tornado here and we were without power for about 10 days.  It should have been simple to just switch a few necessities to our solar, right?  Well, when I got my new carpeting in my computer room, the Beast disconnected the solar so the closet could be carpeted at the same time.  He never put it back in working order.  Figures, right?

Also, he never filled up the propane tanks we have (2-70 gallon tanks) after they ran out this summer.  So we had no heat from the fireplace either.  Could any more go wrong?  The temperature in the house dropped down into the 50's.  When Chewlee came in from the snow, finally, I made her take off her wet clothes and put on her pajama bottoms.  That was the first time.  We warmed up under the covers together and then she got into her jeans, put clean dry socks on and went out for another round in the snow with our new neighbors.  No, not kids, but they were having a snowball fight and invited Chewlee to join in.  She did.  She also made snow angels in the snow when they did.  When she got back here, I swear, she was caked with snow.  I shook out her scarf and laid it in the sun out on the front porch.  I would have loved to throw her jeans and socks in the dryer but....no electricity.  She wouldn't take the jeans off because her daddy, Johnnycakes, was going to come and get her when he was done at the chicken farm.

When he finally got here, she ran around stuffing her things into her bag and got her jacket and shoes on then said goodbye and off she ran..  They had electricity (and warmth) at HER house...LOL!  It was a couple more hours before we got ours back (and another phone call to the electric company).  Tara was without electricity for just a half hour I think she told the Beast.  The Princess went an hour.  We were 16 hours without electricity....and we are two old people!  Sheesh.

So, I shut the door to my room, turned on my baseboard heater to high and ditto with the little space heater on my desk.  It's starting to finally feel warm in here after an hour so I can cut it back a bit now.  But it sure didn't help my cold any.  And let me tell you, it's AWFUL to sit on a toilet seat that is cold as ice.  How ever did our ancestors stand *outdoor plumbing*?

The streets and driveways all melted down because the temperature was in the 40's and it was bright and sunny out.  I had to run down to Walmart to pick up my meds and it was great driving conditions.  Not a whole lot of traffic but at least I can drive to the Wound Center by myself tomorrow without worry.  Tomorrow...no snow in the forecast and temperatures up into the 50's so we will more than likely lose the snow still on the ground.  All the snow on the power lines and trees are gone but you will be able to see it in the pictures tomorrow.  I promise!

Love you all.  Trust me, I feel for everyone that still is without power and has awful driving conditions.  If it hadn't melted away, I would never have even tried to drive in it the way it was this morning.  **Hugs**

Where Did All This White Stuff Come From???

I woke up this morning and what greeted me?  It was snowing and we already had accumulated 2 inches of the white stuff on the ground.  I know Chewlee had to be happy because there was no school and there was plenty of snow to make a snowman with.  That is, if she really remembered how damn cold your hands get making one....LOL!

Baron surprised us all with his behavior.  Yes, he wanted to play in the snow.  But...he heard the coyotes off in the distance and I swear, he wanted to either hunt them down or join them.  Weird.  We had a hard time getting him back in the house while the coyotes howled.

Strange how you think of coyotes as only being out west but they have slowly but surely been migrating all over the country.  I remember how shocked I was when I first saw shots of them in the alleyways of Chicago but now here they are in Alabama!  We were told, via the news, that they can be found all over the country now.  That coyotes have large families and will even breed with local dogs, which was not a surprise to us since we found a coyote in our yard when our dog was in heat.  If she hadn't been so eager, we wouldn't have thrown on the lights back there and discovered the eager male!  LOL!

The forecast for our area started out as an additional 6-9 inches of snow on the ground but for OUR particular area the forecast became freezing rain.  As much as I hate that, it's better than snow that melts slowly and freezes underneath.  A rain, even a freezing one, will help get rid of the little snow we have on the ground.  We have salt and sand for the roads so that will help with driving conditions.  This kind of winter weather is just not normal for our area.  We've lived here now for over 10 winters (well, we owned this house for that long and would stop here during the winter for a couple days) and we have never seen anything even close to this.  If it's going to be continuing like this, we will definitely have to get some snow shovels.  We sure don't own any and it's not going to be fun to get either of the cars out of the driveway as it is.

Oh well.  I'll let you know what happens here as far as the weather goes.  Love you all.  Please be safe.  **Hugs**

It's My Fault......

I left my soup unattended.  That gave the Beast the opportunity to add seasonings to it...like a bit too much pepper, for example.  And, although I don't mind it because I love spicy foods, it might just be too much for others.  I could just strangle the Beast, who gets this *who, me?* look on his face when I brought up the fact to him.  Thankfully, it is just one package of split peas so there is only 6 servings or so left...that is, if the servings are just a bit over one cup each.  Oh well, it is what it is and we shall survive it.  I'm just not sure how the Princess will react to it if she makes the trip over here for some.  She just LOVES split pea soup.  Maybe I will bring her some tomorrow if the weather isn't too bad.  We are under alert still although nothing unusual seems to be going on as far as weather so far.

They keep predicting we should be getting sleet and rain any minute now! but the temperature isn't falling fast enough, I don't believe.  I'll wait and see.

My wonderful friend, Carol, from California, sent me two packs of Kona coffee beans.  My mouth dropped open when I opened the package and saw them.  She is such a doll.  She knows I can't afford to pay that kind of money on coffee.  I just LOVE Kona coffee.  My first experience with it was when I lived out in California and a friend of mine came back from her honeymoon to Hawaii with some.  When I tasted it, I fell in love!  If you don't know about Kona coffee, it's grown in Hawaii and there is something wonderful that happens to it.  Perhaps it is the ground it's grown in.  Perhaps it's the wonderful weather but it is definitely one of the most wonderful tasting coffees I have ever had.  If you get a chance, try it.  Get the medium roast, not the dark.  The dark is not like OUR dark roast from the grocery stores here.  It tastes (to me) a bit bitter and the wonderful taste is gone.

Carol sent the beans because she knew we had the grinder for it (it came up in a conversation we had about how the Beast loved to grind his coffee beans personally).  That keeps the taste very fresh when you grind just enough to make one pot at a time.

Carol is an older woman in a wheelchair most of the time.  She's overweight due to the fact that she has two bad knees which have only gotten worse over time due to her weight.  It's a real round robin type thing.  She is also a brittle diabetic (very tough to control).  We play bingo online almost every day.  She lives just outside of San Francisco (which terrifies me when I think of it and earthquakes).  One of her sons lives in Hawaii, has his own business and is in the process of building a new home there.  Her other son is the one that owns a flower shop and she helps out there during the week.  She answers phones, takes orders, helps walk-in customers and even helps in the design work of some arrangements.  She has a wonderful personality and a good heart.  We hit it off when we first met.  She says I always lift her spirits when she is a bit down (she hates being old and *sickly*).  She also thinks I am funny.  Wow!  Poor woman must be really sheltered...LOL!

Well, I really need to get this posted.  Still no rain, no sleet and our temperature is holding at 27 degrees so far.  **Sigh**  Love you all.  Be good, keep warm and dry.  Drive carefully, please.  ***Hugs***

Today Brat Farm Was More Like Sleepy Hallow....

I actually spent most of the day sleeping.  Honest!  I have no idea why except for this miserable cold that has been trying to come down with me.  I know its not the removal of my valve.  That has been pure pleasure since I can now take a shower.  Yay!

I DID get up long enough to eat and I even managed to play a couple games on Yahoo plus I got to talk to Bratfink.  I think we were both suffering from sleepy-itis.....LOL!  So there really isn't a lot to tell you today except that I DID speak with my friend, Caro, from California.  She is sending a blanket she made for the Princess' baby.  She said she made it with no one in mind and it's in blue, green and a touch of yellow.  Perfect!  It's crib size so I think the Princess will be able to use it easily.  You can't have enough, let me tell you.  I remember that from when I had my own kids.

We are under a Winter Storm alert here that will start around 6pm they claim.  A mix of rain and sleet.  No fun.  Chewlee will be disappointed.  She really wants to build a snowman.  She drew me pictures of how she would make it, including using rocks for the eyes.  She wasn't sure what she would use for the nose but she was going to use branches for the arms and her scarf around it's *neck* that isn't really a neck (her words).  But it means bad driving weather.  The Beast went to the store and got more milk, coffee, creamer, some meat for dinners and more of the stuff for the dog's meals.  Just in case.  He doesn't want to drive in it any more than anyone else with a lick of sense.

Love you all.  Have a great week, hopefully.  Drive carefully, stay warm and dry.  **Hugs**

A Fantastic Day For Me!!!

Today was a fantastic day.  I went in to see my doctor at the Wound Center and, after he looked at my blood test results, he removed the valve for my IV's!!!!!  He thought it would hurt because it would take a lot of tugging but it came out smoothly so he said....*Or not!*  It made us all laugh!

The big deal is that I can now shower.  I'm not supposed to get my toe wet but I figured I can redo it because I have all the stuff here to do that with.

MUCH Later::

Sorry about how late this is.  I fell asleep after my shower.  It was so wonderful, it was almost orgasmic!  I hated to get out but also didn't like wasting the hot water.  I just never realized how wonderful it is to be able to just take a shower whenever you want to.  I may take another one later before I go to bed....just for the hell of it!  LOL!

I tried to take a nap earlier but first the Beast told  me he had to run over to this guy's house to help him out.  I didn't ask HOW he was going to help out but it meant no nap and no shower then either.  He needed me to be up and aware because he was expecting a package to be delivered by FedEx that needed to be signed for.  Just wonderful.  Then my friend, Dianne (the doctor), shows up just wanting to talk (to a female, I think).

We talked about the progress on the house.  The framing should be starting either next Thursday or the following Monday.  The estimate on just the framing being completed (if the weather doesn't interfere) is two weeks.  Then the REAL work starts to get it all enclosed and roofed over so the interior work can start.  Dianne will be happy once they reach that point.  Her hubby, Dennis, keeps changing his mind about things and the house gets more and more expensive!  Once they order the materials, the changing of his mind is OVER.  LOL!

When the Beast got home, I found out he was just taking pictures of his friends house for him.  He's selling it and the family will be moving to the Dominican Republic.  They go there for a month every year and finally decided they would just go ahead and move there permanently.  They've made a lot of friends over the years and are very excited.  Due to the depressed real estate market, they are attempting to sell their house on their own.  They wanted the pictures for posting on the Internet.  I wish them well.

It wasn't until about a half hour after the Beast got back home that his package arrived.  Know what else?  It didn't need to be signed for and the guy said he would have left it in the garage for us since it was open and he knew either someone was here or we would return quickly.

As soon as Dianne left, I jumped into the shower and had my orgasmic experience.  I then FINALLY got a little bit of a nap.  The Beast ended up waking me up earlier than he should have just with his coming and going...in and out, in and out...dammit!  So I dragged my butt out of bed and then was struck in horror because I remembered I hadn't finished this blog nor posted it.

Love you all.  Today was wonderful here.  Temperature got up into the high 40's and was bright and sunny.  No wind.  **Grin**  The Beast even got on the scooter and gave Baron his run around the circle.  Be good.  Stay warm.  Enjoy your weekend.  **Hugs**

A Shocking Film...

I was watching some things on the history channel today pertaining to Hitler and some of the awful things they did, including the massacres of whole villages in some of the areas they conquered.  But I was stunned when I saw the films taken by them of the artwork that they destroyed just because it was cubist or other types that Hitler did not approve of.  Many wonderful works of art were just burned out of existence, taken out of museums of areas that had some wonderful works of art by Cezanne and others of that era and style of painting.

He stole thousands of pieces of art that were hidden in salt mines, an easily overlooked small apartment in Munich, his own fortress in the mountains and some other incredible places.  It was difficult for the special team that was appointed to find and return all these stolen pieces of art work to even return some of it because many of the towns had been obliterated.  They were, however, returned to the countries that had owned them as much as possible.

I've heard that civilization is determined as much by their culture as they are by the art work that the culture treasures.  I would say that applies also to the books they treasure and keep available for everyone to read.  These books may not be *politically correct* as you may already know by some of the books that have been banned but even those books show how a culture has grown and matured over time.  To deny that many things happened is rewriting our history and denying our growth and maturing as people.

I hate how many things that were correct and natural are now considered verboten such as a hug by a teacher when a student is hurt.  We have become a nation that is eliminating things like hugs and kisses because there is a group of people who are so inhibited by nature that they interpret everything as nasty or sinister in nature.  Worst of all, we are allowing these very people to direct our actions without any kind of objection.  What has happened to us?  Why are we just allowing other people to call the shots on our actions?  On our reading material?  Isn't this the kind of thing that Hitler did in Germany before the war?  What kind of government are we allowing to develop?  Next we will be making people with physical or mental disabilities get sterilized and who knows what will happen after that?  You think it can't happen?  All it takes for evil to exist is one man who keeps quiet when he should speak up.  Are we ALL becoming that ONE man???

Enough for now.  It's cold here again and snow flurries are predicted for us for tomorrow.  Chewlee will be thrilled if it leaves snow on the ground.  Unfortunately, she wants to build a snowman she told me last week.  I don't think we will get enough snow to build anything but a small one.  When we get snow flurries here, it makes for a lot of black ice on our roads.  We have a lot of bridges for various creeks and rivers.  We are also up around 3300 ft into the mountains so we have roads that are slanted in many places.  Lots of hills and valleys around us.  I try to avoid driving during those times because so many cars end up in ditches or slamming into other cars.

Love you all.  Drive carefully.  Stay warm and dry.  ***Hugs***

Greenpeace? She Has To Be Kidding !!!

I asked my son about my daughter, Buttmunch, and wanted to know if she had found any work yet.  He told me that she had actually applied to Greenpeace!  I was stunned that she had that kind of nerve because she has nothing.....NOTHING....to bring to THAT table!  No college education, no military training, not even a hobby that would appeal to them.  She asked Marcus Aurelius to answer the psychological questions for her.  I was a bit shocked at that bit of news but I do know that one of her roommates is really disgusted with her right now.  She's raised the utility bills and the food bills and has shown no sign of actually going out and applying for work.  Greenpeace?  OMG.....just because she used to go out with her dad on the ocean when she lived with us in South Florida does NOT make her a sailor!  She can't even apply make the proper knot for tying up a boat.  She MIGHT qualify as a cook's helper or a maid but, other than that, she brings nothing to the table that would appeal to Greenpeace.  I hope she can take rejection.

It was not a bad day yesterday (Monday).  The nurse came around 1pm and drew my blood for testing.  She also changed the toe bandage although I was underwhelmed at how she did it.  But I suppose it isn't fair to compare her to the nurses at the Wound Center and a Home Health nurse.  The nurses at the WC do so many wounds each day that they are just experts at it in comparison.

It was a bit on the cool side here but we expected that.  At least we had mostly sun and just a little wind.  Today we are going to have thunderstorms and lots of rain!  The Paint River area and all the homes around it have been warned about the possibility of flooding.  We have a lot of active creeks close to us, including one just down the road from us and a pond across the street that COULD cause a problem.  It would affect our friends, Dennis and Di, most critically since it is just slightly behind the base of their new house which was only poured a week ago.  They have three weeks before the framing can be done.  The base needs to *cure* for 30 days first.

It looks awful outside right now.  You can tell we are going to get some kind of storm.  If we were further north, I would say we have a snow sky but our temperature here isn't low enough for that.  Not quite!  If we have severe enough thunderstorms going through here, it will affect our television and satellite internet.  If we are snug in the house and not really inconvenienced, do we care?  LOL!  We do not!

Love you all.  Be good.  Stay warm and dry.  Drive carefully wherever you are.  ***Hugs***

Computer Problems Are A Pain !

Today I suffered from a bunch of computer problems.  I ended up having to do complete scans TWICE!  It was a real pain in the butt trying to track down what the problem or problems were.  I emptied my caches on both Firefox and IE, even though I seldom use IE.  I ran my virus program.  I still had problems.  I couldn't get some programs to load.  Others would freeze on me.  Trust me, I was both flummoxed and pissed off.  My Yahoo Messenger was not finding an internet connection even though when I checked it, the computer kept saying I was connected.

Getting onto this site was impossible.  It kept saying it was loading but it didn't, no matter how long I allowed it to load.  Can you imagine how frustrating that was?  I finally said the hell with it and shut down my computer completely.  I fell asleep for a couple hours then got up to start the whole process again....I thought.  Lo and behold!  It seems to be corrected now.  It couldn't be that simple as shutting down my computer completely.....could it?  Somehow I doubt it but I will count my blessings for as long as it lasts.

That was pretty much my day.  The weather was fantastic....again and then it changed and got ugly.  It rained...hard part of the time then just a steady rain.  It was enough that Baron wasn't interested in going out in it before his bedtime.  And then it was just a drizzle.  It caused our satellite TV connection to go out a couple times but not during the game, thankfully.  The Beast was disappointed that the Broncos had such a poor showing as well as losing the game.  He said he was shocked at how fast the Seattle team was.  They just ran circles around the Broncos.  Oh well.  It's really just a game, folks.  Someone wins, someone loses.  It's not life or death like it was in Rome centuries ago.

Tomorrow it's going to be a bit cooler and overcast.  It's going to seem very nasty.  I know from previous days like it.  Especially since the humidity will be high.  Yukky!  Oh well.  Even we get some bad weather here, just not in the way other areas of the country are suffering with snow instead of rain.

Love you all.  Stay warm and dry and drive carefully.  ***Hugs***

Annoying Things...

One thing about today that was NOT annoying was the weather.  It was just beautiful out.  We were up over 60 degrees, sunny and almost no wind.  Gorgeous.  I opened my window to let some fresh air in and it's still open because it's 49 degrees and no wind to speak of.

I was playing bingo on Yahoo's Vegas World site and started having a problem.  There always seem to be problems after they do an *upgrade* but this one drove me nuts.  First I started getting a popup during my game that said *You can only afford 0 of 3 cards for this game*.  It was ridiculous because I was betting 125,000 coins per three cards out of a *bank* of 56 million coins.  I just clicked out of it (because it stopped my game until I did so) and kept playing.  Then it started doing it a couple times during the game.  I wrote a complaint to Vegas World about it and just left it at that.

THEN...it came up with a new thing.  It would show up when I selected my bet and cards but before the game started.  It would show up again (after it collected my coins for the cards) and throw me out of the room as the game started.  I went through that four times and finally got mad and made another complaint to Vegas World.  They call it *requests*.

I have to get in touch with my daughter-in-law, Raven, to find out if she would like a bunch of beads and findings also the elastic thread that a friend of mine has.  She lives in San Francisco but she is a brittle diabetic, overweight and has bad knees so she is in a wheelchair now.  She used to do a lot of crafts but has lost both interest in doing them and the time since she is working at her son's flower shop now.  She has a small house and wants to clear out what she will never use again.  I understand that need since we have the same problem here.  We are running out of storage area but not for craft things.  I should call her tomorrow.  My friend says she will send it postage free to her if she wants it all.  I think she will probably take it since she makes some really pretty jewelry that she is selling.  But I will call first to make sure she is still doing it.

The Beast accused me of throwing out something today that goes to one of the many appliances he's purchased recently.  I told him I had no idea what the hell he was talking about and I would NEVER throw out anything like a grid.  On a hunch, I went through the cabinets and found what I thought he was looking for.  Sure enough, it was.  Then he looks at me and says, *How did it get there?* when I told him where I found it.  I just gave him an evil look and said, *I guess it got tired of just laying around.*  I sure never touched it.  Figures he would put it somewhere and forget he had done so.  I've always told him any parts that go with his gadgets should be put inside before he puts them up on top of the cabinet where he's been keeping them all.  That crap annoys the hell out of me.  It's always *me* that he accuses.  What the hell would be wrong with saying something like, *I can't find this or that?  Any idea where it might be?*  But no...not him.  He's just like his nasty father was.  Sheesh.

Guess I will close this missive now.  The worst of my bitches have been aired.  I'm ticked off that I can't play bingo on Vegas World until that popup gets corrected.   That is a real thorn in my side.  I'll be going to bed where I should be anyway.  I took a late nap and that's the only reason I am up this late...LOL.

Love you all.  I wish everyone good weather and safe driving.  Keep warm and dry.  **Hugs**

Bad News For Me....

Well, when I saw the doctor on Friday at noon, he told me he wanted to wait and see how my blood test this Monday turns out.  One of the things he was looking for to tell him the antibiotic is working was too high.  If it comes down, he will remove the valve.  If it doesn't, it means another round of IV's.  Sigh.  One day at a time......

When the pharmacy called me about the appointment, they checked with me about my supplies so that I wouldn't run out of anything I needed.  It reminded me that I hadn't taken my heparin shot for the day....thank goodness.  The last thing I want is a blood clot!

Chewlee didn't show up today so I guess the Princess got her message across to the substitute driver.  The normal driver knows better than to listen to Chewlee without a note no matter how beguiling she is.  I still miss her a lot.

I bought some gummy bears when I stopped at the gas station without thinking that I have no idea when I will see her next.  But they don't spoil so I will just put them on one of the shelves in the bookcase for when I DO see her next.  I just stepped in to see if they had any gum balls or something else that she likes as a *spoiling treat* from Grandma.  LOL!  She likes gummy bears.  The last time she had some, she went into a long speech about needing to brush her teeth after eating sugary things and then she went into the bathroom and did just that.  I have a toothbrush I keep here for her.  I have, however, run out of her toothpaste now so I have to replace that.  Heaven forbid if she wants to brush her teeth and can't.  I wouldn't hear the end of it.

The doctor also changed my toe medication .... again!  But he did do something my toe needed.  He finally trimmed down the callus that I always seem to have on my big toe.  It used to be on both toes but....well, I only have the one big toe now.  But, since it was bandaged all the time, I couldn't trim it myself and it bugged me.  When I was in the exam room, waiting for the doctor, I would peel parts of it off myself and that horrified the nurses.  At least this time, HE did the trimming and it felt good.  He yelled at me a bit...he doesn't really yell, actually...but he sure did make it plain that I had to keep that awful shoe on in the house and not just wear it when I went outside.  He doesn't want any pressure on that toe.  So I haven't been wearing it when I am in my pajamas but I walk on my heel on that foot.  That poor heel is going to end up with a callus, just wait and see....LOL!

If you haven't seen the Budweiser commercial with the little golden lab that is in an adoption center, watch for it.  It's one of the ones made for the Super Bowl and it's the cutest commercial I've seen in ages.  One of the programs the Beast watches all the time showed it and the Beast said there was no advertising for Budweiser that he saw.....you just knew it because of the Clysdales in it.  I saw it online, thanks to the link that Bratfink sent me.  Adorable commercial.  It made me cry but just because it was so cute.  Watch for it.

Our weather is going to warm up a bit during the day but will still be cold at night.  I can take that, thank goodness.  I don't go out much at night so it can be as cold as it wants.  However, the cold front behind Winter Storm Maximus is going to affect us by mid-week.  We are just too close to the Carolinas in a manner of speaking.  The weather channel showed how it will hit them and it dips down into our little corner of the world.

Some areas are really getting hit hard...like Chicago and Indianapolis.  I feel really bad for those areas since it makes life so difficult.  Say a little prayer for all those people affected.  I hope they are able to stay warm and safe.  I wish the same for all of you.

Love you all.  Drive carefully.  I'm sure you saw the pictures of Atlanta when they got hit.  It happens in most cities, including all the accidents.  Remember, the life you save may be your own.  Make sure you have an emergency kit (supplies) in your car, too.  Just in case.  ***Hugs***
