Our new fridge was delivered bright and early on Wednesday morning. We had emptied a few things into our cooler when we got up but we waited until the men got here to finish emptying it. I had put all the various condiments and things like marinades, steak sauces, etc. on the kitchen counter and we emptied all the meats and things into the sink (emptied and cleaned) plus the stuff in the freezer section. I put out all the fruits and vegetables on the kitchen table. Yes, it was a bit of a mess but handy.
The Beast connected the water line before it was pushed into place and the Beast then set the temperature controls. The Princess and Chewlee had stopped by so that we could watch her for a bit while she went to see her doctor for her weekly appointment. She was back when we were ready to put the food in the new fridge and she was most helpful. What's a daughter for? LOL! I think what surprised us the most was how fast it came down to temperature. It couldn't have been more than an hour and a half. We ate lunch together (steamed hot dogs) and the Princess and Chewlee had left and it was shortly afterward that it was down to temp. What is even stranger, from our point of view, is that it dumped it's first load of ice just a few hours later! By this morning, the ice bin was full. We have never had a freezer section do that before. In fact, they usually take almost 24 hours before they even dump their first load of ice!
When the freezer showed it was down to temp, shortly after we ate lunch, he checked the ice cream, which had started to soften up on us when it had been placed in the freezer section. Imagine the Beast's shock when he discovered it was frozen solid once again. All-in-all, a very happy experience. There had been three complaints about noisiness in the 35 reviews on it and those were about noise. That truly puzzled us because you can't hear any noise at all except when it dumps the ice. Could it be that simple? Has to be because you can't hear the compressor running at all.
Here's the part we found amazing. When we refilled the fridge with everything we HAD had in the old fridge, it honestly looked almost empty! Yes, I am loving this fridge.
Today, the Beast and I were both up early. I had things I wanted to get done early (before we had to leave to meet Tara at the restaurant in Guntersville) and so did the Beast. We were meeting with Tara and what we thought were just Keith's paternal grandparents for an early dinner. Imagine our shock when a huge crowd came in to join us at our large table the restaurant had reserved for Tara. It was set for 15! AND...it ended up being two more than that when Keith's best friend and his girlfriend joined us. It was fun since we didn't know these people so the conversation was lively. One of the uncles actually has a deer farm where the deer are carefully bred for good genetic qualities for private reserves all around the country. How interesting is that? I had seen a Discovery channel program on a farm like his but never in my life thought I would meet someone actively involved in that kind of enterprise. The people were wonderful and I even saw a little girl cousin of his (she was born on the same day that Chance was born) tuck into her salad like a little rabbit! It was just adorable.
Chewlee had ants in her pants, as she sometimes does, and I think it had to do with being around so many strangers to her. We left the restaurant and headed to the school for the graduation exercises. I was surprised to discover that Keith was a National Merit Society member. I remember the days that Tara complained about his grades...back in his Freshman days, of course. It was nice to see him with his gold scarf and tassel amongst the others in his class. I didn't know until I saw it noted on the program that they actually have a Spanish one, too, for those students of Spanish heritage.
We were joined at the graduation ceremony by Teach and Sheepie. Sheepie had phoned the Princess so that she would wait down below the bleachers so they would be able to find us all. Sheepie sat by my side while Teach sat on the bleacher just below us alongside the Princess so we could all talk.
The ceremony was fairly brief and the valedictorian gave a kind of cute speech before the diplomas were handed out. Then it was back out to the slough of cars to try to make it out of the parking areas and on to the after-parties being held for friends and family. The Beast and I came home. I was damn near crippled up from all the walking and Sheepie bulled her way through the crowd with me on her arm so I could find a place to sit down. The Beast brought the car over closer to where I ended up sitting on a chair that Teach and the Princess had found for me to sit down on. I have no idea why but my hips really hurt! I think it's partly due to the way I have had to walk while this toe has been healing. I wonder if I will ever walk right again! LOL...
Sheepie was concerned about my visiting her apartment since they live on the second floor. I plan on visiting when Mustachio goes over there to visit. I told her that I would be fine as long as I don't have to walk the distance of a football field like I had to do today. I kid you not about that part.
Anyway, the other relatives as well as the Princess and Chewlee went over to Tara's for cake and ice cream while the Beast and I headed home. Sheepie did, too, since she had come straight from work and hadn't eaten with the rest of us. Also, she had to get to bed early since she had to be up early for work in the morning.
We were proud of Keith and he graduated with a partial scholarship for an engineering project he had done in school plus the school game him an additional $1000 scholarship, which will help out against his college fees. His trust fund will help pick up the balance, I believe but we all laughed to find out that he hadn't jumped the gun and started college classes this summer. LOL! He wants this summer for a last hurrah, I guess.
Today was very, very warm. It ended up in the upper 80's and was still 86 degrees at 7:30pm when we got to the school. But I was comfortable while everyone else was fanning themselves with special fans provided by the school, courtesy of the local hospitals.
Love you all. Hope you had a great day. We sure did. ***Hugs***
