Although the day was mostly overcast, it didn't have (and we never got any!) the feel of rain or even high humidity. The wind was mostly non-existent and the temperature did get up into the 60's, Tomorrow it's supposed to be up around the mid-70's and get warmer and warmer as the week goes on. I really hope all this cool weather is over. It's great for sleeping but sucks during the day. I was sun! warmth! light breezes! In other words, I want some Spring before Summer hits us. With everyone screaming *global warming* and *climate changes* you just don't know what to believe, let alone what to expect.
I finally did get my potato salad made and it turned out really great. I love it and have a hard time staying away from it for long. It's my mother's recipe, of course. Don't most of us learn from them? The Princess made some cole slaw that was good (a little too much onion for my tastes) but Johnnycakes was ecstatic because it was *just like his mother made it!* My cole slaw is very different but that's just what I grew up with. At least I am willing to try other types and judge them on their own merits. They may be different but it doesn't mean they aren't good, too.
That's another thing our mother taught us. We ate all kinds of different foods from different countries because Mom made friends with all kinds of people. We tried Greek dishes, Italian dishes, Mexican dishes....it a nationality lived in the Chicago area, Mom usually found a way to make a friend or two and we kids got to try a lot of different things. Mom even tried her hand at making them at home. It was fun at times and, as a result, our tastes are kind of eclectic when it comes to food. We have our favorites, of course, but we can tuck in on almost any kind of food laid out in front of us and enjoy ourselves.
Well, I am tired and need to get to bed now so I will close this for now. Love you all and I wish you a great week, good weather, good food and good friends. ***Hugs***
