Mustachio arrived on Sunday, as expected. He and I sat outside on the steps for a while and let Baron run around outside until he came and lay down at our feet. Then Mustachio brought in his chili that he had made and brought for everyone to enjoy. Of course, it was hotter than hell outside so just what we craved....LOL!
Dennis came over while we were sitting outside and we talked about the pros and cons of his building his house. He told Mustachio that if he came over during the day when the house was opened up, he would show him around.
When the Beast got home from church, he had some of the chili (as I had already enjoyed a small bowl) and liked it. He DID have to have a big glass of milk handy since the chili was just a touch too hot for his taste. By hot, I mean spicy.
I was pleased to see he could move his fingers, finally, but he has no feeling in his thumb or the first two fingers on his hand. He also has no real strength in them so lifting a gallon of milk with that hand is impossible for him without taking the chance of it falling to the ground. He had difficulty lifting the half gallon plastic container of orange juice he got from Walmart. My poor lefty is having to learn to use his right hand more. Not natural for him at all.
The Princess, Johnnycakes and Chewlee came by to visit after they were done canoeing. Mustachio questioned them about the possibility of renting a power boat but he forgot this was a holiday weekend and all powerboats
We talked, then Sheepie got off work and came by the house to entice Mustachio to come visit and have hot dogs with them. Chili + hot dogs sounded good to him so off they went. I hadn't slept well so I desperately needed a nap and didn't go with them. I promised Sheepie that I would visit another time.
I took my nap while they were gone but was up when Mustachio came home. While they were gone, I helped the Beast put the AC unit in the bedroom window and he said to me, *This will probably be my last year of being able to do this kind of stuff.* I knew he hated to admit it but he just cannot do the things at 70 that he did when he was 40. Somehow, that is where his head is but not his body. Too soon old, too late smart.
Mustachio was tired and went to bed around 11pm, even tho' he said he was used to being up much later than it was. The time at his brother's house was both interesting and tiring. He told me that Marcus has his house totally *geeked* out with all the computers, Ipads, etc. But that is Marcus's *thing* and didn't surprise me at all. He has always loved computers, networking, etc. so his family would always have the best available to them for their use.
So, when we all went to bed Sunday evening, it was still around 72 degrees but was cooling down rapidly and would make it nice for sleeping with the fans on. Monday should be clear and hot once again. Up into the 80's once more. Yikes!
Love you all. Hope you are enjoying the Holiday and you take time to give thanks for all the veterans of the wars that allow us to enjoy our freedom. ***Hugs***
