My friend, Carol, worked all day long in her son's florist shop and I knew she wasn't feeling well so it puzzled me. I asked her why she was there so long since she usually only works a little over half a day. Today she worked overtime!
She said it was normal for her to work 9 hours a day the week prior to Mother's Day. I had no idea that Sunday is Mother's Day. Duh! Call me dense. I've seen the ads on TV for sending flowers, chocolate dipped strawberries, etc. but thought it was just early advertising. Shows you how much attention I pay to those things. But, since my mother has been dead for many years now, I guess it just hasn't been all that important to keep track of either. Oh well!
My granddaughter, Sheepie, asked me about Carol's son, the one that does the glass blowing, could make her something nice for her living room and how much it would cost her. Carol told me that he wouldn't be able to blow glass....just do something that is very different...like make some jewelry that is like what she sent me or things like paperweights that are made of glass and are attractive. I gather you need something called a *hot room* in order to blow glass. Even if they get one of the special ovens, he will only be limited to doing some smaller, attractive things. I asked about him doing a tray, perhaps, but she isn't sure they can get the underlay glass base for one.
She said she had a really nice paperweight if Sheepie is interested in it and she would send it to me for her....free. I told her I would ask her about that if and when she calls me or comes over. I tried to call her on the number I have for her and it says it's not in service. So I am at a loss over that. I hope she reads this and gives me a call or stops by. Love you, Sheepie. ***Hugs***
It was hot here today. It got up to 85 and at least there was a breeze. Not that it made a difference to me. I stayed inside...LOL. There goes my plans but the Beast wasn't up to it either. He did go out and price what it would cost him to put up some shelving in the cottage. He doesn't have near enough in there for everything he has placed all over the darn floor. I have a couple things I need to go out and get from there. Things I put in when we painted this room that I didn't need all the time but have needed a time or two lately.
Love you all. The good news is that the weather will continue to be warm for a few more days. The bad news is that it will get cooler but will also carry the chance of rain here...again. I hope you all have better news. ***Hugs***
