We Get Lucky!

I spent most of last night without sleep and then was wide awake today while we got some torrential rains.  I say *rains* because we got a series of them.  It was a very active weather day, to say the least.  Lots of areas had really bad storms with high winds that brought down trees, power lines and caused damage to houses, sheds, cars and trucks.  Other areas had some bad flooding from the rain.  We lucked out and just had some really heavy rain and some high winds but no damage to any structures or vehicles.  At one point, it was raining really hard with such high winds that the rain was actually horizontal.  That really looked weird!

All is quiet now and for that, I am grateful.  I am so damn tired that I was falling asleep as I tried to play one of my games.  I think I should take the hint and get my butt to bed.  I'll do that just as soon as I finish this.

I think our chickens might be brain-damaged.  Really!  Several of them were outside while it was pouring.  It wasn't until the wind got really bad that they headed back into the barn.  I like a nice shower, too, but I think I prefer it to be a bit more gentle than this rain was....LOL!  Even Dennis wanted to be out in the rain until it got really heavy and we were getting a lot of thunder.  He's not afraid of thunder but the heavy rain had that as part of the package.  The dog just LOVES the rain.  He's not the least bit put off by it raining outside when he needs to relieve himself.  That is so different from Baron.  Baron wouldn't even go out in a drizzle.  And get his feet wet??  No, no, not him!  Labs are just so different from Dobermans.

I found out why Diane is in the hospital.  Dennis had to call an ambulance for her because she wasn't able to sit for him to drive her to emergency.  We never saw or heard that but it was around 2am, I gather.  She suspected she might have gall stones because of some pain that she was having.  Why is it that doctors don't seem to want to go to their own doctors?  She knew she should have gone in but I guess she was hoping she would pass whatever was causing the pain.

BUT...as they found out when they got her in emergency, she developed an infection and it's a serious infection.  She was very, very lucky that she didn't develop sepsis but she was close.  So they are treating her with some heavy antibiotics right now to get the infection knocked down.  She needs to have her gall bladder removed but they can't operate on her while she has the infection.  I'm going to go up to see her tomorrow and see how she is doing.  I have a hunch she won't be a good patient.  But then, what doctor is???   What's worse is she is a psychiatrist and you know what they say about them.....LOL!  Don't get me wrong.  I like Diane.  We've been friends for many, many years now.  She IS a bit on the strange side but aren't we all in one way or another?  Well, maybe she's a bit stranger than most but she's likeable and fun.

I'm done for tonight and heading for bed now.  Good night, sleep well my friends and family.  Love you all.  ***Hugs***
