The mattress finally got here and, of course, the Beast was gone. I asked the delivery man to bring the box into the living room. The poor man wasn't sure he would be able to lift it alone but he managed to kind of push and flip the box. I told him there wasn't anything breakable in the box so he didn't have to worry about THAT. He just laughed and said he knew that from the words printed on the box. He got it inside for me and I thanked him profusely. I thought, at first, that I would be able to push it into the guest room and even open it up....but I was wrong. The box was heavy!
When the Beast got home around 6pm, he called Dennis and asked him if he could bring over this platform on wheels that he had and help him get the mattress into the guest room. Dennis came right over and, between the two of them, got the box into the guest room and unpacked it. I was in my computer room (to stay out of their way) and, when the Beast came in and asked if I wanted to see it, I said, *Of course!* Imagine my surprise to see the mattress looking like it hadn't been jammed into the small box (well, you would have to see it to understand) that it came in. It fully expanded from being compressed as soon as the guys got it out of the box. And it felt WONDERFUL when I lay down on it.
We gave it a couple hours to finish expanding, if it was going to, and then put the sheets, blanket and spread on it. It looks great! I'm going to wait to sleep on it, however. I really DO intend to spend a night on it because the most comfortable night's sleep I ever had was on one just like it.
News about Tara. She urinated some blood this morning or last night and everyone panicked. The doctor ordered more blood be given to her (she's already had 8 pints). Marcus mentioned this fact to one of the doctors when he was servicing their computers and the doctors almost had heart attacks! They said our bodies only hold 10 pints. They were amazed that she lived after losing so much blood. But her doctors ordered a scan on the lower section of her body and they took a biopsy too. They determined that the blood was menstrual. How's that for a kick in the head? Even Tara wasn't thinking she might actually be having her period. The rest of us thought she was over that already but I guess she isn't. Thinking about it, we realized that it probably wouldn't be over for her for another couple years. She's a bit young to have gone through menopause yet.
Anyway, we are just glad it hasn't turned out to be more serious than that so far. We'll just take a *wait and see* attitude until the results of the biopsy are in and if the stomach ulcer is, indeed, shown to be healing finally.
Sister Cee brought her son to see her in the hospital so she could say goodbye to him. Her brother and father brought her daughter and youngest son, Chance, to see her a bit later. She needed to say goodbye to her daughter since Tara's dad and brother are driving the kids up to meet up with their father halfway between the two homes. Cee spent the day checking for any dirty clothes that belonged to them, getting them washed, dried and packed up, too. Tara's brother came by the house (Cee has been staying there for the last couple of days) to pick up the suitcases so they can get them stashed in Tara's dad's car for the trip. It will be easier to just get the kids in the car then. It's about a 7 hour drive for them....one way. BUT...knowing men and driving, they will probably cut about an hour off that....LOL.
Baby Brat panicked when everyone was gone. She has no short term memory that lasts longer than maybe 5 minutes. It's the result of the brain damage she suffered from her drinking and the mini-strokes she had. But I guess she called her daughter in South Carolina and told her she had no idea what happened to everyone. She didn't even remember that Tara was in the hospital. It makes her difficult to deal with because of that. At least her daughter called Michael and asked him what was going on. She knows about her mother's problem. I really have to admire Cee for being able to deal with Baby Brat for all the years she had her living with her. She's now living with Tara. Cee is enjoying being alone with no one but herself to care for. She had many years of caring for her boyfriend and then took on Baby Brat. Bless her heart. She is so very patient.
Did I mention that the eggs the bird laid in Cee's artificial plant finally hatched? She believes there are three of them. They don't make any noise until the parents come back with food for them. Then they cheep like crazy! LOL. Cee tries not to disturb them but it seems the mother is no longer frightened by Cee when she comes out on the little terrace area. She just goes about her business of feeding her babies.
My son, Mustachio, is coming down tomorrow to go and see Tara. When they were kids, they spent a lot of time together because of mutual friends and hanging out at our house. He feels like she was a little sister (his sisters were older...LOL). He was really worried about her but I did calm him down tonight. He'll come here first since he has no clue where the hospital is. I don't think Tara will get out until Sunday at the earliest. Cee says she was still getting blood and they had all kinds of monitors on her plus she was also getting saline solution. Hell, it will probably take half a day just to unhook her!
Her arms are going to be so sore from the IV's. I wish you could have seen my arms when I came home. Of course, the nurses were kind of upset because I have very fine veins and they kept rolling on them when they tried to stick me for the IV's. I had a couple places where they blew my veins. It was a bit of a nightmare. It took me weeks before I healed. I hope it doesn't take Tara that long.
The heat was intense today so I stayed in the house which is well-insulated and didn't feel bad. Tomorrow will be another busy day for me. I'm going to be making salsa. First I will check to see how many more tomatoes have ripened and get those picked. I also have clothes to wash. I made this chicken dish that I found on the internet, an easy type of comfort food involving chicken breasts, chicken broth, mushroom and cream of mushroom soup and topped off with boxed stuffing mix. I did add some celery and onion to it since I usually do that to the stuffing mix anyway. It's just how our family likes stuffing. It's in the slow cooker on low right now and I will keep it warm when it's done so we can eat it for dinner. I have it on low and checked it a bit ago. It will be so yummy when it's done. *Grin*
I've gotten hooked on checking my Facebook page plus the pages of some family and friends. It takes me HOURS. *Sigh* I can understand why Bratfink got off it for quite some time. It can be so time-consuming that you have no time for anything else. But I DO stop and do chores that need doing. I just can't crochet unless I am done and totally off it. But it's interesting at times, too. So I am stuck between a rock and a hard place...LOL. But I love knowing what's going on with the family especially.
My nephew just graduated from Boot Camp for the Marines. He looks so handsome in his uniform. His mom, step-dad, sister and brothers all flew out to San Diego to be there for it. I loved when MY son, Mustachio, graduated from Boot Camp for the Navy years ago. He was on the drill team, which was incredible. The show they put on was amazing. It was tough for my son, being a leftie, because he had to learn to do all the things they did with their rifles with his RIGHT hand. But he did it and it was so much fun to watch. I was so proud of him. I know how my nephew's family had to feel. I have no idea yet where he will be stationed but I imagine I will find out. His mother posts everything on her Facebook page and I know she will mention it.
I have a grandson in the Marines and he is stationed in one of the Carolinas. I think it's South Carolina. But he will probably be getting out soon. I know my great-nephew (also a Marine) is about due to get out too. Unless either of them goes career. But I think my grandson has theological leanings. Last I heard, he was thinking of joining the Jesuits. But kids change their minds so we will have to wait and see what happens.
Time to get this posted. Love you all. Thank you so much for reading my blog. I wish you great weather for the next few days (at least). Be good. Be careful. ***Hugs***
HINT: To bring already-picked tomatoes from green to red (or ones that have been knocked off the vine!), place them in a paper bag with an apple.
