Chewlee Spends The Night And We Already Have Four Inches Of Snow On The Ground

I could hardly believe it but it was the Beast that called the Princess and asked if Chewlee could spend the night at our house.  He was betting that we would get snow and Chewlee wouldn't have school on Thursday.  He went over and got her (he also got a big hug from her, she was so happy to see him!), brought her home and it wasn't long after that that the snow started falling.  He was right.  It didn't take long before we had four inches of snow on the ground and it was still falling heavily when I last checked.

To make matters worse, my internet is going in and out so I don't think I will be able to get this posted.  It will have to be put into draft mode...LOL.

IT WAS AT THIS POINT THAT WE LOST OUR POWER.  We did not get it back until almost 5:30pm this evening.  We woke up to 8 inches of snow on the ground and a bright, sunny day.  Chewlee was ecstatic as she dressed to go outside and play in it.  The Beast took pictures of her which I will be able to post tomorrow (sorry, but remember...we only got our electric back a little bit ago.  We are still trying to warm up the house (and ourselves).

Now, I'm sure some of you remember that the Beast added solar power to the house two years ago just a day or two before we got hit by a tornado here and we were without power for about 10 days.  It should have been simple to just switch a few necessities to our solar, right?  Well, when I got my new carpeting in my computer room, the Beast disconnected the solar so the closet could be carpeted at the same time.  He never put it back in working order.  Figures, right?

Also, he never filled up the propane tanks we have (2-70 gallon tanks) after they ran out this summer.  So we had no heat from the fireplace either.  Could any more go wrong?  The temperature in the house dropped down into the 50's.  When Chewlee came in from the snow, finally, I made her take off her wet clothes and put on her pajama bottoms.  That was the first time.  We warmed up under the covers together and then she got into her jeans, put clean dry socks on and went out for another round in the snow with our new neighbors.  No, not kids, but they were having a snowball fight and invited Chewlee to join in.  She did.  She also made snow angels in the snow when they did.  When she got back here, I swear, she was caked with snow.  I shook out her scarf and laid it in the sun out on the front porch.  I would have loved to throw her jeans and socks in the dryer but....no electricity.  She wouldn't take the jeans off because her daddy, Johnnycakes, was going to come and get her when he was done at the chicken farm.

When he finally got here, she ran around stuffing her things into her bag and got her jacket and shoes on then said goodbye and off she ran..  They had electricity (and warmth) at HER house...LOL!  It was a couple more hours before we got ours back (and another phone call to the electric company).  Tara was without electricity for just a half hour I think she told the Beast.  The Princess went an hour.  We were 16 hours without electricity....and we are two old people!  Sheesh.

So, I shut the door to my room, turned on my baseboard heater to high and ditto with the little space heater on my desk.  It's starting to finally feel warm in here after an hour so I can cut it back a bit now.  But it sure didn't help my cold any.  And let me tell you, it's AWFUL to sit on a toilet seat that is cold as ice.  How ever did our ancestors stand *outdoor plumbing*?

The streets and driveways all melted down because the temperature was in the 40's and it was bright and sunny out.  I had to run down to Walmart to pick up my meds and it was great driving conditions.  Not a whole lot of traffic but at least I can drive to the Wound Center by myself tomorrow without worry.  Tomorrow...no snow in the forecast and temperatures up into the 50's so we will more than likely lose the snow still on the ground.  All the snow on the power lines and trees are gone but you will be able to see it in the pictures tomorrow.  I promise!

Love you all.  Trust me, I feel for everyone that still is without power and has awful driving conditions.  If it hadn't melted away, I would never have even tried to drive in it the way it was this morning.  **Hugs**
