I left my soup unattended. That gave the Beast the opportunity to add seasonings to it...like a bit too much pepper, for example. And, although I don't mind it because I love spicy foods, it might just be too much for others. I could just strangle the Beast, who gets this *who, me?* look on his face when I brought up the fact to him. Thankfully, it is just one package of split peas so there is only 6 servings or so left...that is, if the servings are just a bit over one cup each. Oh well, it is what it is and we shall survive it. I'm just not sure how the Princess will react to it if she makes the trip over here for some. She just LOVES split pea soup. Maybe I will bring her some tomorrow if the weather isn't too bad. We are under alert still although nothing unusual seems to be going on as far as weather so far.
They keep predicting we should be getting sleet and rain any minute now! but the temperature isn't falling fast enough, I don't believe. I'll wait and see.
My wonderful friend, Carol, from California, sent me two packs of Kona coffee beans. My mouth dropped open when I opened the package and saw them. She is such a doll. She knows I can't afford to pay that kind of money on coffee. I just LOVE Kona coffee. My first experience with it was when I lived out in California and a friend of mine came back from her honeymoon to Hawaii with some. When I tasted it, I fell in love! If you don't know about Kona coffee, it's grown in Hawaii and there is something wonderful that happens to it. Perhaps it is the ground it's grown in. Perhaps it's the wonderful weather but it is definitely one of the most wonderful tasting coffees I have ever had. If you get a chance, try it. Get the medium roast, not the dark. The dark is not like OUR dark roast from the grocery stores here. It tastes (to me) a bit bitter and the wonderful taste is gone.
Carol sent the beans because she knew we had the grinder for it (it came up in a conversation we had about how the Beast loved to grind his coffee beans personally). That keeps the taste very fresh when you grind just enough to make one pot at a time.
Carol is an older woman in a wheelchair most of the time. She's overweight due to the fact that she has two bad knees which have only gotten worse over time due to her weight. It's a real round robin type thing. She is also a brittle diabetic (very tough to control). We play bingo online almost every day. She lives just outside of San Francisco (which terrifies me when I think of it and earthquakes). One of her sons lives in Hawaii, has his own business and is in the process of building a new home there. Her other son is the one that owns a flower shop and she helps out there during the week. She answers phones, takes orders, helps walk-in customers and even helps in the design work of some arrangements. She has a wonderful personality and a good heart. We hit it off when we first met. She says I always lift her spirits when she is a bit down (she hates being old and *sickly*). She also thinks I am funny. Wow! Poor woman must be really sheltered...LOL!
Well, I really need to get this posted. Still no rain, no sleet and our temperature is holding at 27 degrees so far. **Sigh** Love you all. Be good, keep warm and dry. Drive carefully, please. ***Hugs***
