Where Did All This White Stuff Come From???

I woke up this morning and what greeted me?  It was snowing and we already had accumulated 2 inches of the white stuff on the ground.  I know Chewlee had to be happy because there was no school and there was plenty of snow to make a snowman with.  That is, if she really remembered how damn cold your hands get making one....LOL!

Baron surprised us all with his behavior.  Yes, he wanted to play in the snow.  But...he heard the coyotes off in the distance and I swear, he wanted to either hunt them down or join them.  Weird.  We had a hard time getting him back in the house while the coyotes howled.

Strange how you think of coyotes as only being out west but they have slowly but surely been migrating all over the country.  I remember how shocked I was when I first saw shots of them in the alleyways of Chicago but now here they are in Alabama!  We were told, via the news, that they can be found all over the country now.  That coyotes have large families and will even breed with local dogs, which was not a surprise to us since we found a coyote in our yard when our dog was in heat.  If she hadn't been so eager, we wouldn't have thrown on the lights back there and discovered the eager male!  LOL!

The forecast for our area started out as an additional 6-9 inches of snow on the ground but for OUR particular area the forecast became freezing rain.  As much as I hate that, it's better than snow that melts slowly and freezes underneath.  A rain, even a freezing one, will help get rid of the little snow we have on the ground.  We have salt and sand for the roads so that will help with driving conditions.  This kind of winter weather is just not normal for our area.  We've lived here now for over 10 winters (well, we owned this house for that long and would stop here during the winter for a couple days) and we have never seen anything even close to this.  If it's going to be continuing like this, we will definitely have to get some snow shovels.  We sure don't own any and it's not going to be fun to get either of the cars out of the driveway as it is.

Oh well.  I'll let you know what happens here as far as the weather goes.  Love you all.  Please be safe.  **Hugs**
