Today I had to go for my preop testing. My appointment was at 2:30pm but I got there early and got taken in right away. They weren't all that busy, thank goodness, so I didn't have to wait for any length of time.
It's always the same...step on the scale. Take blood pressure. Lay on the gurney for a 12-lead EKG. Sit down to have blood drawn. The initial nurse that took the info on all your meds comes in with all these forms for you to sign for permission for the surgery and the anesthesia then gives you several sheets of information on what you have to do, what to expect AFTER surgery and hands me this lotion to apply to my skin for the three days prior to surgery after I bathe. I was used to getting a special soap to wash with so this was a surprise. It means the Beast has to help me by applying it to my back. Oh well. It's just for the next three days.
I have no idea why but I got very nauseous when I got there so they gave me some Sprite Zero to see if it helped (it did). I drove home and took a short nap. When I woke up, I was hungry and the Beast hadn't eaten anything. I made us each a hamburger with some grilled onion. That made the Beast happy because he would have been starving when he got home from his church meeting. This way he only snacked when he got home.
Me? I guess the grease didn't agree with me because about an hour after eating, I barfed. My tummy was really upset and I had to go lay down for a while. It kind of made me mad because I was talking to Bratfink and had to run to the bathroom to barf. I told her what happened and she agreed that I should go lay down and settle my tummy but, of course, I fell asleep. That was what I needed though. When I woke up, my tummy was fine, I didn't have any gerd in my throat and I felt 100% better. But Bratfink had signed off and gone to bed. Well, it WAS late...almost midnight here so it was almost 1am at Bratfink's.
My friend from San Francisco sent the beads and stuff to me today and the post office said I should get it on Saturday. I guess she sent it in a priority box. She told me look over the stuff she sent to see if it was something my daughter-in-law, Raven, would be able to use for her jewelry making. I can make a fairly educated guess but can't actually say yes or no until I see what she sent me. She says she has more stuff but hasn't located where she stashed it when her eyesight started to fail her and she got too shaky to do her crafts.
Chewlee will get her surprise next week since the baby doll won't get to her (my friend) until Saturday. She was mad because she paid for priority shipping. It was supposed to be there on Tuesday. I told her that it didn't make a difference to Chewlee because she really wasn't expecting anything. A surprise to her can be just a letter. I had no idea that my friend was ordering a new baby doll for Chewlee. I thought it was something she had there at her house from her crafts or something. She is also going to send, separately, a small dream catcher for Chewlee to hang up on her wall. Chewlee loves those even though she doesn't really know what they are or mean. She just thinks they are *neat*....LOL!
Poor Mustachio is still suffering a lot with his wrist. I finally told him to push for a second opinion on it since he says every time he comes home from the current doctor, he's in more pain than before. Something is not right. The nurse also told him that it would probably be a couple more months before he could return to work. That blew me away. After my surgery on my wrist, it was just a matter of healing. That shouldn't be taking someone that is so much younger (and heals better) that long a time. He says he isn't able to sleep more than two hours at a time, then he is up for two hours before he can go back to sleep again. That doesn't help the healing process any. The doctor doesn't believe in pain medication either. That to me is totally stupid. It's also why I told him to push for a second opinion...have another doctor take a look to see why he is still in so much pain even this long after his surgery.
It's cold, cold, cold outside but is supposed to get better this weekend. I sure hope so. It's been such a tease with the way our weather has been lately. Warm for two or three days (well, sort of warm) then cold, cold again. Enough!!!!
Love you all. Have a fantastic Friday. ***Hugs***
