So Neat To Have Happen.....

I think everyone has heard the horror stories about online romances that turn out tragic or at least don't end up well.  It's nice to see one that actually turns out to be a happy event.  I have an online friend in England that I made around two years ago.  He's a Desert Storm veteran that lost both legs when his plane was shot down.  He's a really nice young man (to ME he's young anyway) since he's around the age of my oldest son.

He met a nice young woman online on the same game site that we play at.  They got to know each other using Skype so they could actually see and talk to each other in real time and no typing.  She was well aware of his handicap and, later on when he had a heart problem, she was then his fiance and she spoke directly with the doctors so knew the depth of the problem.

The romance was not only serious but it seemed almost tragic at the same time.  The prognosis on his heart problem is not good.  But they both were anxious to get married and that time is now just a few days away.

She flew to England to get married.  He picked her up at the airport and brought her home with him.  The next day he presented her with the most beautiful engagement ring I have seen in ages.  They bought their wedding bands ... well, she bought HIS wedding band.  Her engagement ring included the matching band that they saved for the ceremony.

England made them wait for 8 days of her being in England before they could go to the registrar to get their marriage license.  Then they had to wait another 16 days for the banns to be published.  Somehow immigration got involved since she is not from either Canada or England or any of the other English ruled lands and that delayed the date another few days.  However, now they will be getting married this Wednesday.

Both Carol, my gf from California, and I have known the happy couple for around the same amount of time.  I have to admit that I don't know which of us met them first or if we met them at the same time.  But we are now considered to be Auntie Carol and Auntie Brat.  That's what I was told the last time he called me.  He always has included his fiance in on our conversations even when they were on Skype together.

They will be getting married around 9-10am (I forget exactly what I was told....he has a thick accent) and then will meet together with their other online friends to celebrate the marriage once they return home.  They will have a few friends there and then go out to lunch with them afterward before returning home to celebrate with their online friends.

Everyone agrees that it is wonderful to see something like this happen and be successful.  I think what shocked me was his telling me that she would be flying back to California a couple days after the wedding.  I had forgotten that she had a home there that needs to be sold and she needs to take early retirement from her government job, too.  Then, in order to return to England even though she is married to a British citizen, she will have to get a special visa to return.  Governments all have their red tape....LOL  But that's probably because she is not becoming a British citizen and will retain her American citizenship.  Which is probably smart with his bad heart.  I'm sure she will want to return to the US if something happens to him.  Her family all lives here.

The Beast's eye was better this morning when he got up.  I've asked him several times about it and his prescription that hasn't gotten delivered to our pharmacy yet.  I gather it's not something they regularly carry so it had to come from the warehouse.  I called today and they said they didn't get their normal Saturday delivery so it wouldn't be here until Monday.  I have to call first to make sure it's there.

Another cold night expected but a day in the 50's...shock, surprise!  After that, it's all downhill...LOL  I had hoped to get a bit more done than I did (like clean the rug in my computer room) but I did manage to get folded clothes put away and hung up a few things that needed it.  I neatened up my desk a bit but I give up on it being REALLY neat.  I keep putting things that need attention in a pile that I don't feel like addressing at the moment.  They sit for a few days before I finally give in and do what must be done.  I have a few bills that need paying that I am just being lazy about making out the checks.  I will take care of them tomorrow while the Beast is at church and I won't be interrupted.

Time to post this baby.  Love you all.  Be good and remember....romance is NOT dead!  LOL  ***Hugs***
