I ended up calling Lowe's Service today about the fact that our ice maker on our less than a year old fridge had stopped making ice. We did the usual...changed the filter, waited 48 hours before calling, gave the information about purchase date, model and serial number. Sheesh! And we DID register it when we bought it. You would think our name alone would spill out the information on their computers.
I gather it was a main office, not local. So they had to contact the local repair company, pass the information about the fridge problem along and THEY gave Lowe's a service date for us. I almost choked. It was for February 18th! I had a hissy fit over that, let me tell you. I said that was a long time to go without any ice (especially for ME). So he requested the company to put us on their cancellation list so if someone cancelled an appointment, we might get service earlier. Get this! The company calls it their *Secret Service* list. LOL!
It only took me about a half hour to be disappointed that we won't be getting service for 19 days. If we had run our company like that, we would never have been as successful as we were. They obviously don't have enough servicemen for the business they do.
It turned out to be a really great day. The weather was wonderful. If even felt warmer than usual. The Beast took Baron out for a run past the sheep ranch we have just down the street. They have a dog that the Beast didn't recognize the breed but said it's beautiful. Baron and he have kind of made friends and will run excitedly along the fence (on their respective sides) with cheerful barking. Nothing menacing. Today, because the school bus was stopped down the street leading to the ranch, the Beast turned around and didn't bring Baron near the ranch. But the other dog had heard the scooter and started that sad howling they do when they are disappointed. It made the Beast feel bad but Baron, on hearing that, ran to the ranch to see his buddy. By then the school bus had left so there was no danger.
The Beast thinks the fence around the field is electrified and that is why neither dog tries getting in or out even tho' there seems to be enough room. I told him that they can probably feel the electrical field transmitted by the wiring. He said whatever it is, at least the dogs are safe. I said it might actually be up, not to keep the dog and sheep IN but to keep the coyotes OUT. He hadn't thought about that.
We had a cat in our back yard today that wouldn't move, even when Baron came out and barked at it. When it didn't react, Baron lost interest and the cat remained where it was. I thought it might have been hurt and was going to have the Beast go outside with a towel (because of all the pointy parts on it) to check and see. But, looking outside the window over the sink, I saw it get up and start eating something. I think it was a mouse. When it was done, it just walked away and disappeared out of the yard. Strange that it was covering up a mouse from a dog. Or perhaps it has some experience with coyotes and can't tell the difference between a coyote and a dog. But at least it wasn't hurt.
It will be a much cooler day tomorrow. *Sigh* But at least there's no way we will have snow and that matters to me. Love you all. Stay warm and dry. Be good. It's Friday so there's the weekend ahead. ***Hugs***
