Wonderful day today. We had a high almost too good to believe....81 degrees. Only a little wind but what we had felt good. The Beast went to his church meeting in the afternoon and got some very sad news about one of his friends there. The man has asthma so bad that he was told his next attack would kill him...no doubt about it. And in the spring, with all it's pollens, that attack could come at any time.
He went to be assessed for a special program for people like him and was rated at the far end of a scale from one to seven, being at the furthest end of seven. The program had not even produced a 10% survival rate so he made the decision not to go into it. He has accepted the fact that he was going to die. He's not even 30 years old and has 3 beautiful children. Worse, his wife was found to have an invasive tumor in her throat that the doctors had not removed due to a heart problem they discovered while making the tests for her surgery. It finally got so bad that the doctors went ahead and removed most of it (some had invaded her vocal chords) and she survived the surgery even tho' the doctors weren't sure she would. However, she is very ill even now after the surgery and hasn't recovered yet.
The man went to the elders in the church and asked them to watch over his family when he died. He had explained his decision and why he made it to them first. They said they would do that for him and prayed with him for peace of heart. It's really so sad. The Beast was really upset because he has been good friends with this person for a couple years now. I think it's incredibly sad, too. If you can, just say a little prayer for him and his family since he really could die at any time.
I said the last nice day for a while because thunderstorms are predicted to start some time tonight and last all day tomorrow. The warm weather is also expected to bring us tornadoes, too. THAT is scary! But our neighbors safe room is ready even tho' the house is not complete. That part was finished almost from day one of the interior work. If things get dicey, we are to meet them there.
I'm really and truly hoping the tornadoes skip our area. It's only been a couple years since it hit our downtown area and wiped it out almost completely. I still miss the lovely oaks that used to reside there. The devastation was incredible and you can still see some of the debris that has not been able to be cleared yet. Not much of it left but the foundations of houses not rebuilt are spotted here and there.
Love you all. I wish you a wonderful week and nice weather. ****Hugs****
