I know we live in kind of a boondocks area but the one thing everyone counts on is the postman/woman arriving every day (but Sunday, of course!). Well, today I was waiting on a Priority package that says it guarantees to arrive on a specific day (of course...that is why you pay such a high price for it!). Ours was supposed to arrive today.
The problem with the area we live in is that our postman/woman (it varies) is a contractor to the Post Office. I guess they aren't bound by the same traditions or something. And ours lied. Not only did we not get any mail (although we kind of figured out why..will explain in a minute...) but, when my friend checked to see what the tracking said, it said *Delivery attempted. Notice left.* Lie. The mail man lied. He didn't deliver any mail to either us or the other people who have the mailbox next to ours across from our house. Why? Because there were some trucks in the road that didn't allow the mail man to easily glide next to the boxes. BUT...the package wouldn't fit in our box so that meant he needed to pull into our driveway, get out and come to our door.
Now Baron can be sound asleep but the moment someone knocks on the door, he starts barking like crazy, jumps up and runs to the door, barking the whole time. I was up and the Beast was out in the garage. No one came to our door. The Beast saw the mailman just whiz by and figured we had no mail. He forgot about the Priority delivery. I was really angry. My friend paid extra money to guarantee delivery so we would be sure to be here (in fact, our front door was open and the screen door made that obvious IF he had looked!). We always leave it open for Baron to look out except during the coldest of weather. That's an indicator that we are home to anyone pulling in. I was expecting the nurse to show up as it was.
Plus, I happened to be online with my friend, who wanted to know if we had gotten the package yet. I told her that the mailman was obviously running late since it was about a half hour after he usually showed up. When the Beast came in the house and I mentioned the package, he said the mailman had already gone by and we didn't get any mail. That alone is extraordinary since we usually get something every single day even if it's just a catalog.
What upsets me the most is that the mailman LIED! There was no attempt to deliver. No notice left. Now I wonder when we will get it at all. Doesn't leaving a notice require you to call the post office and let them know when you will be home to receive the package? If so, I am going to raise hell. We shall see what happens. I will let you know. But do you blame me for being angry? I told my friend she should go to her local p.o. and make a complaint. Let it filter down the line and cause a problem for our carrier. I don't care. He should have said trucks blocked access (not quite true but more truthful at least) or some such thing. Not that an attempt was made to deliver or a notice left. Lie. Lie. Lie.
Our weather turned out cold in the morning but mid-day turned out to be nice with the sun shining and no breeze although the temperature barely got over the mid-50's. The prediction is for us to have a warming trend ahead. I sure hope so. Hope everyone has the same. Poor Chicago had their annual surprise mid-April snowstorm. Has to happen before Spring hits for some reason. We all waited with bated breath for that occasion since it could be wonderful weather the day before....shorts and t-shirts type....and then be snowed in the next day! Weird, but that's Chicago.
I apologize for missing a blog. I fell asleep early and slept thru the night. Shock, surprise! Love you all. I wish you a great day and hope you had a good night's sleep. ***Hugs***
