I was alone with Baron all morning while the Beast was out preaching to people. Yeah, he does that from time to time. It surprised me because, when he usually does it, it's on Thursdays. But, out he went so it was just me and Baron again. He didn't do his usual dribbling on the floor when he went out, mostly because I made him go out every hour. He will finish up his meds this Friday. I hope it doesn't have any lasting effects on him and he gets over the huge amount of water he's been drinking (and all the peeing, too!).
Although he has his appetite back, he's actually not eating as much food as he used to. He's not been eating any of his dry food and he looks like he's lost a bit of his weight. He has been around 15 lbs overweight so it's not like he couldn't afford to lose some.
The Beast bathed him today. It's so funny. He carried in Baron's shampoo into the bathroom since he decided to use the tub instead of washing him outside like we usually do during the summer. Baron suddenly jumped up and bolted out of the bedroom and hid on him. He was finally found trying to fit tight up against the dresser in the guest room (not his usual spot to lay down in there). It made me laugh because Baron always resists his baths but loves it once he gets started. Today, due to the heat, he didn't even try rolling on the rugs in my computer room or the guest room. He was damp but it had to feel good to him. He didn't even want to go outside and roll in the grass like he sometimes does.
I really didn't blame him. It was really, really hot outside. The temperature was 94 when I last looked and decided not to keep checking. That's waaaaaay too warm when the humidity is also high. We got some thunder today but no more rain, thankfully. I almost expected it to pour once the sun went down but it didn't. Good thing because Baron just does not like to go out even in a light drizzle. Since he's been peeing like a race horse each time, I knew he would probably lose control in the house so I was grateful.
Baron has to go back to the vets next week so he can check out the problem areas Baron has had and make sure everything is fine. The Beast likes this vet much better than our old one although it seems the practice is more small dogs than ones Baron's size. I told the Beast to have the vet clip his nails next time. He needs to go in weekly to get his nails trimmed down to where they need to be. He just doesn't run and play on concrete surfaces enough to self-trim them so you can hear the nails clicking on our wood floors. That's NOT how long they should be and it's supposed to be painful to them. If the Beast ran him three or four times a day on the street here, it might do the job but that will never happen.
I looked at our 10 day forecast for weather and it's just more hot and not much of a threat of any rain. Oh well. I hope the farmers have gotten enough for their crops. I want to go to the small farmers market this weekend to buy some fresh produce. Their prices are so reasonable there and I am hoping to pick up some strawberries and some peaches, too. We may not be able to grow peaches on our land (we have an invasive form of mildew in our soil) but others don't have the same problem.
Nothing exciting went on here today. I may run over to the Princess' tomorrow or on Friday, depending on how she feels. All I plan on doing tomorrow is run to the store for a couple small items I want in the house. How dull can a life be? LOL!
Love you all. Have a great day and make some plans to get together with family and friends this weekend. Shake up your life a little! ***Hugs***
