The Beast Goes To The Botanical Garden

Today the Beast and a friend of his went to the Botanical Gardens in Huntsville.  His buddy is also a photography buff and they hoped to capture some *significant images*.  They spent 5 hours in 90+ degree heat, walking all over the place.  It's huge!  Plus, they also have a butterfly enclosure so they spent time in there, too.

He came home disappointed because he had hoped to see some exotic plants.  What he forgot is that exotic plants need a different climate than we have here.  However, when I started looking at some of the images he got, they were really amazing.  He has pictures of butterflies feeding on flowers I have never seen before.  He also got a shot of a bee, leaving a flower and you can see the pollen on it's legs!  He just has no clue what people find as beautiful or amazing.  When he printed up a few of them, he finally started to *get it* and he saw what I saw in Muthem.  Now I just need to buy some frames to hang them on my wall here in my computer room.

With the Beast gone for the day, I was here to babysit Baron.  Baron is under treatment for his skin problems and a skin infection that the medication makes him incredibly thirsty.  We actually had to put down two water bowls for him so that we didn't have to constantly refill his main water dish.

The problem with his water drinking is that he has started to dribble pee on the floor when he decides he needs to go out.  I started putting him outside every hour and that seemed to help.  I watched him outside and I was amazed at how long he stood there, peeing on the neighbors fence (it's part of our yard).  I thought he would never finish.

I mentioned his appetite was back.  Not today but I think it was the heat that got to him.  Lots of people seem to lose their appetites in high heat and why shouldn't it be the same for dogs?  Once it started to cool down a bit, then he was hungry.  I fed him and he ate it all up within a few minutes.

I didn't do much except to fold some clothes and make up the guest room.  Mustachio wants to come down on the 3rd of July (the day the Beast leaves for Atlanta) and leave on the 5th.  His idea is to have a family reunion of sorts with all my kids,my niece and her family, my grandkids and the great-grands all being together for the first time in years,  Mustachio and Marcus plan on renting one of the cabins on the river and renting a large pontoon boat so we can cruise the lake.  I just hope they aren't all rented out already for that weekend since this is a popular spot for people to come to fish and swim.  We shall see what happens.

I will make a big container of potato salad and, perhaps, some cole slaw for us.  We can make up sandwiches or grill some hotdogs and hamburgers.  It could be a nice day for us all if the weather is good.  Let us pray!

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend and have great weather.  Love you all.  Be good and don't forget to use a sunscreen.  ***Hugs***
