I didn't sleep well on Thursday night and had to go to the Wound Center on Friday. I went, feeling sleep deprived, but got good news. I am discharged from the Wound Center!! The toe is healed but I was given a warning. The skin is like a baby's bottom and needs some tender care for a while. I have to inspect it daily and make sure there are no pressure bubbles that form or any ruptures. In a few weeks, it should be strong enough but...I have to take care with my shoes. They need good padding (like the Earth shoes I love) or I need to get some inserts like Dr. Scholl's.
He approves my Earth sandals because of all the straps that are on them. The straps make sure that I don't rub back and forth or front to back. I told him if I saw any of that, I would pad the toe with a bandage like I used for the wound, if necessary. He laughed but said it would work.
I came home and had a bunch of things that needed doing even though all I wanted to do was sleep. The Beast finally told me to go take a nap. I tried. I really did but the Beast was noisy and a couple times he needed my help so I had to get up and give him a hand. Nothing major, just things that he was trying to do and I kept him from hurting himself.
Then a package came. It was a complete mystery to us. Turns out it was 2 packs containing 6 different *flavors* of English muffins. The note included said, *Something to enjoy with your Kauai. Love and hugs, Carol*. The muffins are Cinnamon raisin, Cheddar Cheese, Blueberry, Cherry Supreme, and a few others I can't remember right at this moment. It really WAS a surprise since I had no idea she had done this. We tried a couple of the muffins (we shared) and they were really good! I called Carol to tell her thank you, got no answer so I figured she was either sleeping or had forgotten her cell phone. When I finally got to her online later, I almost forgot to tell her we got her *surprise* package. She just laughed and said to enjoy them. She wouldn't have sent them except she knew we had gotten the freezer so we could freeze them and take out what we wanted. The Beast laughed because he said he almost bought more muffins that day. We had used up what we had just the day before.
After talking to Carol, I was exhausted and ready to drop. It was early, just 10pm (that's early for me). But I shut down my computer, turned off the light in my computer room and headed for bed. I fell asleep in nothing flat. I don't even remember laying there at all. I slept like a baby. I didn't even wake up to go to the bathroom (which is also highly unusual). I expected to sleep for 3 hours or so and wake up. But, when I woke up to daylight, I was a bit confused at first. Did I just take a nap? No, I was in my jammies so I went to bed for the night. Woo hoo! I slept through the night and I realized that I felt refreshed and recovered fully from my food poisoning ordeal! What a great feeling!
I also realized that I hadn't felt this good in ages. Of course, that could be a faulty memory but I didn't care! I love feeling this way. I need to do it more often...LOL!
I need to go wrap a wedding gift that the Beast needs today for the wedding of this young couple that he's seen through their courtship and, now, the wedding. No, I am not going with him to it. I could but I don't know the couple (they are from his church) but I will wrap the gift he went through hell to get (a long story). I really hope they get good use of it. It's really a useful gift and wasn't cheap, either.
Love you all. No storms at the moment, although it was storming when I went to bed and I almost lost my internet before I said goodnight to Carol. More storms for us for the next two days or so but right now it's sunny and clear and a temperature of just 70 degrees. The NE section of the country is having some nice, clear, hot weather. After their awful winter, it should be wonderful for them.
Love you all. Have a great and fun weekend. ***Hugs***
